This was an AWESOME suggestion for you guys to watch! I haven't seen Dave in years. My mother had the hugest crush on Frank Langella for his Dracula - 1979 portrayal. Hot as hell! 😀👍
Alan was basically the Press Secretary, but his presence at the inauguration implies that he's now NANCE's Chief Of Staff, if not his VP. To me, the funniest moment was Dave trying to shove a reluctant Murray into the President's chair.
Great reaction as always. I'd forgotten how funny this one is. Thanks for reminding me. Since you both seem to enjoy action movies as well as comedies, may I suggest: Silverado, which is both. Another Kevin Klein film also starring Scott Glenn, Danny Glover, Brian Dennehy and a young Kevin Costner. Great movie!
Delightful film-witty, clever, warm-hearted, amusing...it's All the Things. And both leads (Kline & Weaver) are so versatile, can encompass the range from humor to drama, adore them. So glad you watched & enjoyed this one :)
I do think there has been a youtuber(s) where I've agreed with pretty much everything they've said. Like Matthew I didn't give Dave much time when it first came out, it wasn't somehing that appealled to me, but now It's a pure gem of a film. I also have to agree with Emily that Treasure Planet is a fantastic film with soundtrack and likewise Titan A.E.
While I actually do like several romcoms, Dave is a way different class and I would never put in into that drawer (or any of the "standardized drawers"). Seems that all of my top-10 (probably top-20, as Dave is not in my top-10) movies can be called masterpieces (with rules of their own) which do not really fit any of the regular classifications.
Frank Langella is a very good bad guy and not suprised that Emily was confused with Christopher Lee because they both played Count Dracula Lee 7 times between 1958 - 1973 and Langella in Dracula (1979)
I think of romantic comedies as movies where the primary plot arc is about the relationship. A comedy that has a romantic plot line is not necessarily a RomCom. Also, Matthew is your Cinema Señor.
I loved this reaction video and would love to see you take on The American President some time. I have a feeling you'd love that one too. It's a little more grounded but definitely as good as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the great times watching movies together.
A Kevin Kline movie I love is "In & Out" 1997. Kevin Kline, Joan Cusack, Tom Selleck, Matt Dillon, Debbie Reynolds, Bob Newhart. Side Note: Just keep in mind that this takes place in 1997. Things were a little different then.
I love Dave! That was the best of 90's Comedy. lol Frank Langella was the actor "Mr. Grumpy Eyebrows", who also played Skeletor in Masters of the Universe. And my recommendation for you guys to watch would be "Cut-Throat Island". He plays Black Dog the Pirate and he is gloriously cheesy as is the movie. Enjoy! Lol
If you want to see more Kevin Kline I recommend something from his younger days in the theatre- The Pirates of Penzance. Watch a bit of him singing I Am A Pirate King. The Gilbert and Sullivan operetta character was a precursor to Jack Sparrow.

I noticed someone else asked for another Kevin Kline movie SOAPDISH ! Very funny comedy of the 90's with a great cast all in top form.
This and King Ralph are 2 of my favorite fish out of water stories.
This is one of my favorite movies
Niot gonna lie... This movie for me is a perfect 10. I love it and always have.
Kevin Kline is a great actor, see more of him in 'Soap Dish' 1991, and 'I love You to Death' 1990. Both comedies.
Frank Langella played Bob. Unsurprisingly, he played Skeletor in Masters of the Universe.
Why is that not surprising?
@@eatsmylifeYT because he excells at playing villains.
Delightful film-witty, clever, warm-hearted, amusing...it's All the Things. And both leads (Kline & Weaver) are so versatile, can encompass the range from humor to drama, adore them. So glad you watched & enjoyed this one :)
When I first saw this film Ben Kingsley was a very big surprise, seeing him play an American politican is very unexpected, yet he still made it work.
You guys need to watch "Soap Dish" next.
Early Kevin Kline movie is The Big Chill from 83. So many big names in that cast getting their first or second big role.
You should watch Soapdish with Kevin Kline and Sally Fields he puts on a great performance there as well
I do think there has been a youtuber(s) where I've agreed with pretty much everything they've said.
Chief-of-Staff Frank Langella was another former Dracula, like Christopher Lee.
The "president" riding the pig is the most realistic scene in the whole movie.
I love this movie
Frank Langella is a very good bad guy and not suprised that Emily was confused with Christopher Lee because they both played Count Dracula Lee 7 times between 1958 - 1973 and Langella in Dracula (1979)
"I Love You to Death" is one of my favorite Kevin Kline movies, I think you guys would love it
"Picture Papa" is okay. But I think "Popcorn Papa" has a better sound.
29:24 - Some people's scale is linear, other's use a bell curve. Can't compare different scales, Emily.
16:05 The absolute best moment in the movie. Just perfect. Dave is an awesome comedy/romcom. One of Reitman's bests.
I think of romantic comedies as movies where the primary plot arc is about the relationship. A comedy that has a romantic plot line is not necessarily a RomCom.
Also, Matthew is your Cinema Señor.
Such a great movie! Thank you for reacting to this! 💜
No snark, but they really don't make em like they used to. Thanks for this reaction vid; big ole smile on our faces the whole time :)
I loved this reaction video and would love to see you take on The American President some time. I have a feeling you'd love that one too. It's a little more grounded but definitely as good as far as I'm concerned. Thanks for the great times watching movies together.
What a pleasant surprise!
You're feeling better about him getting that oscar, aren't you.
One of the best and uplifting films ever made ❤
A Kevin Kline movie I love is "In & Out" 1997. Kevin Kline, Joan Cusack, Tom Selleck, Matt Dillon, Debbie Reynolds, Bob Newhart.
Side Note: Just keep in mind that this takes place in 1997. Things were a little different then.
Good movie. hasn't aged well.. LOL
Kevin Kline also played the president and someone who impersonates him in Wild Wild West.
I love Dave! That was the best of 90's Comedy. lol
Frank Langella was the actor "Mr. Grumpy Eyebrows", who also played Skeletor in Masters of the Universe. And my recommendation for you guys to watch would be "Cut-Throat Island". He plays Black Dog the Pirate and he is gloriously cheesy as is the movie. Enjoy! Lol
This movie really doesn't get enough love. it's a missed classic
If you want to see more Kevin Kline I recommend something from his younger days in the theatre- The Pirates of Penzance. Watch a bit of him singing I Am A Pirate King. The Gilbert and Sullivan operetta character was a precursor to Jack Sparrow.
I enjoy your videos. Made me want to start doing my own reactions. Congrats on crossing 20k!
