This channel has drastically improved my game over the last year, so I'm stoked to finally meet "my mentor Todd Stones (or as I'll say now, MY Mentor's Mentor)." This channel is the best and can't wait to see more content with Todd.
I can see the respect you have for each other and how you build off of each other. Adam, you are the only instructor I follow now. I have watched all your videos multiple times. They just make sense!! Thank you for what you do. Chris
I cannot tell y’all how much this video saved my game. I’ve been watching tons of videos on the golf grip because I’ve been feeling mine isn’t working anymore as I’ve gone from low 120s to low 90s since I started 6 months ago. All the other videos from big UA-camrs just talk about strong/weak but NO ONE has mentioned not fighting your own anatomy. I literally stood up and saw that my hands do hand super strong naturally with my palms almost completely facing behind me. Never even realized it. I watch Grant horvats video and have been trying to implement a natural grip for weeks and it’s just annihilated my game because it’s not natural for me! Thank you guys so so much!
Had the same thing, I am have the David duval hanging arms. Instructors have always tried to weaken my left hand, knew it felt like I was twisting my arm, now I feel fully justified keeping it a bit stronger.
Went from single plane golf back to conventional and this channel has been a huge help! Ball striking has been sooo much better lately and the scores will follow, almost broke 80 for the first time in 20 years, pulled the string and spun one off the green at my home track and came 6” away from an ace on another hole. Thank you so so much.
I have now watched this video 3 times. Every time I view it, I learn something new, and reconfirms my understanding of what I have already learned. Thank you for always producing a quality product.
The simplest and greatest way to set the grip , I have been struggling for nearly two years with my grip , despite watching countless tutorials, now I do this and my worries / paranoia about my grip have gone
Just watched the video. Still have to try it but holy shiiii this all makes perfect sense. Watched the video while holding a club and it makes even more sense. This is a video myself included but I think all amatures need to watch multiple times
I have 3 shoulder surgeries and this is the first real grip information I have ever received. I have always struggled with a little bit of a one and a half knuckle. I always have a tendency to hold it in my fingers , the starting at your side like a hammer is awesome. Thanks for this video you guys , it shows how much you two care about the game and the people whom attempt to master it.
Good information here, I think the grip is something that is natural to each person and I have bought into this for about two years now. I am one of the outliers where my palms face behind me when standing at address. I tried to have a 2 knuckle grip for years because I thought this was what must do to be a good golfer and did nothing but hit wicked slices. I have switched to a 2.5-3 knuckle grip and I am playing my best golf ever. Grip is so personal and there’s so many ways to get it done.
I tried this tip and draw my iron for the 1st time been playing for 2 years playing I have so much better contact with the ball simply amazing golden video !
I'm so glad I watched this video because I have a strong grip, and most of my shots are left, and to compensate, I try and come more inside, which cause more hooks. Now, I just need to get to the range and practice this. Question: Does a strong grip slow down your swing?
This is golden grip info. I’ve been having some lead hand grip issues lately and that move to grip the club with the hand behind the grip joint is gonna be the big key for me. Definitely rewatching this again later.
Going through a grip change, actually a re-learning of what I'd been taught before. At 67, it became obvious, grip changes with time if we don't pay attention to it. I have been gripping repeatedly with a club at home to get over the discomfort of change. Makes it easier now to go hit balls when it feels more natural. Fighting over correction of the trail hand, but hey-ho...good tips
Now i know why i feel comfortable with a strong grip, and the explanation of the right hand, the heel pad position and pressure, now that feels different. Can't wait to try it and have a practice session tomorrow morning.
Hey guys. A big thanks for the free lessons. I watched your videos on the takeaway and chipping. Improved my game incredibly. I can’t explain how good it felt when I saw the divot flying through the air. The divot mark was actually after the strike and not 4” before.
David Edel of Edel putters, does exactly this with fitting people into their hand grip on putters and the stroke and rubber grip size. It makes sense now you talk about going with your natural bio mechanics. Awesome video.
One question at the 7:13 mark of the video you talk about a T-Line(perpendicular line) in front of the body and having the leading edge perpendicular in front of your body and having the leading edge aligned with the shaft. Is the spot in front of your body the spot behind the ball at address? You have great content, but I love getting into the details. Thank you
My arms naturally hang slightly in not quite Duvall but I'm definitely 3 knuckles showing. Makes sense why a stronger grip feels comfortable. Great video
The more grip explanation the better for me as a beginner! Im struggling to use the finger lock grip because it’s painful and that distracts me. Any chance that you would do an in depth description of the various grip styles? I put this video on loop and at 75% speed which is easier to absorb, so much to learn as a new golfer! 😁
There's nothing wrong with a 10 finger grip, (no interlock or overlap), as long as your hand alignments are good with the grip placed in your fingers properly
What a I love … we have the why, the how… and not 75% on what I am not concerned about! Great work… only sad that it is so far away from where I live 😜
Where does the grip lie in relation to the pad of the left pinky finger? I hear you reference "in the fingers", but if the grip is really in the fingers, the left hand gets really strong when it wraps around the club. If the grip presses on the underside or palm side of that pinky pad, do you still consider that in the palm?
@PorzakGolf I’ve gone right back to basics and am looking closely at the grip. You have said you guys are short thumb guys but it really looks like Adam’s left thumb is long…what’s best? thanks Rob also do you get all the thumb on the club or just the thumb pad?
Where’s the alignment video? That’s where I struggle. Did I miss this somewhere? Thanks, love your videos so easy to follow without the technical jargon
I think this might be a really important question, when you grip the lead hand, should there be a gap between the thumb(pad) and the grip or should thumb(pad) pressure towards the topside of the grip and towards your fingernails, i think this is a really valid point because if i hold my club parallel to the ground with my leadhand and just relax my wrist, it will bend my wrist a lot more downwards if there is a gap. Please answer❤😊
I also think that if you have a larger hand like I do then your thumb ends up more to the left of the shaft. The 2 knuckle check point is probably the most important
How would this gripping steps translate into a Driver? As the ball is much more near the lead foot, the clubface would be shut when aligned. What is the best course of actions to correct this?
Question. I strike the ball far better with lower hands. My hands look lower then better players. I try to raise my hands and the strike is terrible. Not sure why. I follow all your advice and I’m playing the best golf I ever played so I don’t really want to change my hand position unless I can strike the ball better.
I like the way you explained everything but disagree with the idea that a strong grip with 3 and a half nuckle like mine is wrong . I tried them all and find that the only grip for me is super strong . all i have to do is make sure i rotate through the shot to keep the clubface square. can hit fade and draws with a shut face at address. . Seen a few video where they agree with the the strong grip but your saying its not good. very confusing for someone who is learning to play . I think what i am trying to say is that its so individual that you have to experiment in practise to find what suits you the best. .
Only one proper grip. Ben Hogan. Watch the Seve Ballesteros video where he so clearly articulates and demonstrates the correct grip. The only video you will ever need to learn the proper grip.
This is a very good video and informative but the fellow in blue keeps using the term amateur as a bad player, i am an amateur with a low handicap (single digit) it probably shouldn't but it offends me and I've read posts of others that feel they are being categorized as being a poor player. Anyway this video should help high- handicap players and beginners.
You guys are on the right track. But you all are giving too much information in the fist 5 minutes of the video! Now I am more confused than I was before I starting watching this!!!
I don’t understand why all these golf instructors use the term “amateur” so much. There’s what, like 500 professional golfers in the world? We’re aware that you’re generally referring to the amateurs and not the pros.
😆 Great tutorial however couldn't help but laugh at the 'trigger guard' reference. Guess it makes a whole heap of sense to gun-totting viewers but to those of us on the other side of the pond where gun culture and the right to bear arms is an alien concept its a visual comparison we are for the most part completely unable to relate to.
You can't follow a video and put the steps together yourself? Seems like you are the only one who can't follow instructions compared to others in the comment section my friend. Left hand takes club in natural hand position on left side of body, grip in fingers with palm overlapping top, thumb on lead hand 1oclock, Place in front of you with hinge, grip with trigger finger and thumb for trail hand, put club to ground. Pretty simple if you ask me.
This is the only channel I take advice from and I’ve seen my swing change with better iron strikes. Now trying to get my driver and short game sorted. Could I use this procedure for my driver? Great video content every time best UA-cam channel ever. 🏌️
Why does it take 13.5 minutes to explain the “perfect grip”. When a browser sees that it takes 13.5 minutes to watch, they move to the next video that also has the perfect grip but it only takes 4 minutes. Just sayin.
Having the right grip for Ppl who don't have Supermans Super tight grip, is tough to always do perfectly well, this is why so many Ppl go for custom shafts, clubs that flex ruin what ur grip is supposed to do for ur ball placement. @GolfDigest @USOpentour. @NUCLRGOLF

Can you make a playlist for the Tom Sones series? I love to reference those videos and would make a great playlist entry.

@enzofer2125 let it be! Comfort and being natural in the setup is key!
@PorzakGolf Will do, binging your channel by the way. So much content that's easy to follow. And you clearly know your shit

Second video I’ve seen saying I need to get rid of my strong grip, pulls and slices with early extension at impact for years
Great video!
Thanks for the visit!!
Bob Tway used to put his grip on the club that way with the angle.
I also think that if you have a larger hand like I do then your thumb ends up more to the left of the shaft. The 2 knuckle check point is probably the most important
Do you promote interlocking fingers?

Ben, Jack and Bryson grip the club mostly in the palm,
shutting down gettin too wristy and goin left!
They all hit it long...
I’ve been playing for a year and a bit and not one teacher has helped me with my setup, they all seem to focus on the swing plane and divots.

Do you typically advocate a long or short thumb for your lead hand grip? This part confuses me the most - or does it even matter? Lol
We favor a longer thumb on the lead hand due to more control and the ability to create hinge(leverage) easier between the lead arm and the club
@@PorzakGolf thank you!!!

Can you comment on the right thumb?
Compelling watching.
Gripping needs to be in the position of club’s loft. Otherwise club face is usually led to be closed.
100% yes

And yet you guys still never methodically showed us how to take a proper grip. You eluded to it but never went step by step.
You can't follow a video and put the steps together yourself? Seems like you are the only one who can't follow instructions compared to others in the comment section my friend. Nice one! The devil is in the detail…
Always!
Why refer to amateurs whenever you're making a negative point? We're players too. We're also the majority
Cope my friend
Because pros already know what to do? This video is to correct errors in amateurs. No need to be so sensitive.
Kids, cocaine is not a cure for all of these problems in the golf swing. Drugs are bad!
