    In this video, Adam shows you when to wrist hinge during your takeaway. Adam displays a great and easy way to see how the wrist act in the takeaway. By simply placing 3 alignment sticks on the ground, you will see that the wrist begin to set at the same time the shoulders rotate. Try these drills and see how your wrists will naturally set at the top without being too handsie!

      Im the full turn guy! i have even demonstrated that wrist hinge to others,to avoid an inside takeaway, in a set and turn drill and then ruin it for myself by over turning and setting it with my trail hand!
      Been watching your YT for a cple of weeks, have hit my 3 best ever 3 woods! and shot 5 over on capts day playing average, not bad at my age! now if i can only get this takeaway!

      Really depends on the shot I'm trying to play. I hit a natural fade so if it's fade it's just trust the swing. If I want to hit a draw I have to turn it down knuckles down slow the body down. I started golf at a late age 31 went from a 25+ handicap to a 3.2 in really 3 summers. Now 34 and wish it was my sport of choice at an early age. I've almost developed an automatic swing I only get to play once a week last 3 months and handicap has dropped from 6.8 to 3.2 not getting to play just develope these feels watching you in my car on my lunch break at work

    Great video Adam on hinging! I use a 45* hinge set because I find that it is more compatible with my backswing. The only shortcoming I have is a premature arm lift rather than extending the arms out more. I gained a lot from this video and I am going to archive it.

    I have trouble reconciling the hands moving straight back along the yellow line vs the hands and arms staying connected during the turn. Don’t the hands have to also move on an arc like the arms and chest, albeit smaller? Thanks for all the info.

    This information along with the videos with Todd Sones are going to take me from a 6 index down to scratch. Awesome information. This will help me get to a point that I can let the swing go on the downswing. GAPS (Grip, Ailment, Posture, and Stance) along with this takeaway checkpoint will free up the swing. It sounds like a lot of info, but you can train the GAPS which take no athletic ability and you are 95% ready to take the swing. Love it.

      Really is excellent instruction, my aim is to hit scratch by end of October, currently a 3.2 the little hip bump has made the biggest difference to my ball striking, struggled with driver for a bit when i first tried it, but a range session moving ball an inch further forward sorted that out.

    • @tlavery59
      @tlavery59 8 місяців тому

      @@richyclubsport5155 … yes I have incorporated some of these ideas and the hip bump is so important. Their discussion of the hip bump really made me make some adjustments to how I was feeling the weight distribution at setup and during the swing. Todd Sones made a reference to the Stack and Tilt method and in retrospect that is what I was doing and had some success, but not like when I do the hip bump correctly. Thankfully I am taking video to insure that I am setup properly and my local instructor has force plates so I will see if I am distributing my forces appropriately. Good luck on your journey to scratch…I hope to join you soon.

    This was HUGE for me. Apparently I was getting wristy, and probably bringing the club inside (although I felt like I was taking it straight away). I took this to the course, and its been a world of difference. Thank you again, Adam! My next issue is staying balanced and centered when hitting driver. What do you have to say about keeping your center of gravity and your balance centered after the hip bump/shoulder tilt? Sometimes I feel like I get my weight too far back, causing me to slide and/or not turn through the ball, after the bump/tilt setup for driver.

    Dear Adam,
    I am a bit confused about wrist-hinging and wrist-cocking in the backswing. In the first sequence it seems to me that you hinge the wrist. In the later sequences it seems to me that you make a wrist cock.
    For me as a non native english speaker I finde the explanation auf (1.) wrist-hinging and (2.) wrist-cocking in the video of Pete Cowan (Basic shortgame by Pete Cowen) very helpful. Now I am asking you what are you doing in the back swing:
    (A) Half body-turn and half wrist-hinge?
    (B) Half body-turn and halt wrist-cock?

    tbh i barely have any clue what he said. at times he seems to be saying push with your left hand, at other times it's basically "Hinge Hinge Hinge", and at other times it's push with your left shoulder. the teaching golf professionals NEED to understand that words/thoughts are not clear enough by simply saying them even if it's done in a straightforward way (which to his credit he mostly does) - teaching professionals need to really focus on how to communicate instruction so that it 101% cannot be misconstrued. i've never really come across a teaching pro who does this. they've been getting away for decades with being lazy communicators. the most important thing they can do is put all of their effort into figuring out how to communicate their ideas in the clearest way possible. putting their instruction into written form forces them to do this but alas making videos has obliterated that preeminent form of teaching IMHO obviously.

      Hey there! In this video specifically we push down on the heel pad of our lead hand in order to naturally hinge the club. Furthermore, when we add the shoulder turn which initiates the takeaway, you get a connected backswing to the top.
