Its better to argue with someone who knows his stuff than to argue to someone who doesnt know what programming is etc. I work as a level designer at a game company. I only do level designing and at most i do 3D modeling. However i have a programming background. I rarely program anything and if i program something its usually a scripted event for a level for testing so that the senior programmer takes over once he gets to it. It makes it allot easier to communicate and senior programmers like it when their level designers or 3D modelers know what they are saying and want. Thats about it. Then again the Creation Engine is not to difficult to program for compared to unity or unreal

I'd love to hear Todd's take on Mass Effect. The trilogy is my favorite game of all time and yes, it's not "open world" but it provides well-curated choices that let you shape the narrative to a huge degree while providing a tight-nit, universe-shaping narrative that feels massive and important, with universal themes of cooperation vs competition and individual effort vs leadership. Luckily we live in a world where ME can live alongside Starfield with both offering fantastic, yet wildly different, experiences in space.
Mass Effect is truly unique though, in that the central focus of the narrative is entirely built upon one man and his deuteragonists: Commander John Shepard. A fully open world Mass Effect game would never work because of the systems and the anonymity of the protagonist (you!) that cannot shape and mold a tight narrative. I am with you on this one though: I would adore Todd's take on BioWare's magnum opus 😍
Bethesda is known for their unique style of world building rather than their story writing, mind you. I honestly don't think they'd be able to pull off something like mass effect.
I mean... from morrowind to fallout 4 enjoyed them like the best games ever; although 76 made me a bit worried, I think they managed to turn it around pretty well... ( it even has mods for christ sake! ) sadly Starfield wasn't optimized to my pc so I can't even play it...

BGS is awesome! They aren't without their flaws, but man when they put out a game it's just an amazing open world sandbox experience that I can get lost in for 100s of hours. Woke up early so I could jump into Starfield before work, what a beautiful day!
His personal favorite game is Ultima 7 and he spent years leading a dev team that made the watered down mess that is Starfield. Something went wrong there.

For a game that was created years before this feature was invented it is amazing how good the haptic control is with the archery game play for Skyrim on the PS5. They were made for each other even though they were made a decade apart without consideration of each other. It’s amazing.

The budgets for Video Games greatly exceeds that of traditional film and television and strives to offer a cinematic experience, that you control.
I really appreciate Todd Howard for Bethesda’s continuous development of games where you get to create the character. I think he’s right on the money there. I care way more about a character I get to create than some character I’m given.
I liked Morrowind, you start out the game at such a low level and everything can easily kill you and when you do reach higher levels it's really satisfying to go back and get revenge on everyone. 🤘
I really want to complete morrowind but my last two playthroughs have had quest breaking bugs that I didn't notice until after hundreds of hours. I think to finish it I'll need to give it a go on the pc or wait for skywind.
@@Dorgpoop idk about bugs, but you have to be really cautious with all the factions if you're trying to complete the main quest; I've almost started murdering all the Telvanni before I realised that it could mess with my story progression. I'd recommend not going too hard on the other NPCs (cave bandits don't count) and maybe doing a magic-based build if you want to experience the main quest smoothly.

Before i watches his talk with Lex, i had no idea that he could actually program and make games. I went from not really knowing much about him to actually liking him quite much.
i see an issue looking for a SKYRIM SEQUEL, as we had the experience of SKYRIM, it's impossible for all old gamer to repeat the same "experience" and how it felt to travel trought this HUGE GAME (Skyrim). In my opinion Starfield = Skyrim and thats the issue, i can't experience Starfield the same way as SKYRIM, to me it feel like, i'm playing the same game.
Skyrim is great and all but my love is for oblivion since it was the game that got me into the franchise. I havent played morrowind yet, but plan to before the next elder scrolls drops.

Todd Howard wants a Skyrim sequel because of all of the money bethesda made, and is still making off of Skyrim. (And MANY other gamers) DON’T want a Skyrim Sequel, because we don’t think they would do anything but stain the legendary, iconic status that Skyrim has become.
