Absolutely they do work I live in NJ there are tons of deer out here I take a ride to my friend's house almost on a daily basis and not ever once on my ride do I not see at least 20 deer just on the side of the road. I've had a lot of Close Encounters I have never hit a deer( knock on wood) and this is just going to help ensure that I absolutely never do in the near future either I've seen raccoons and possums run out of the way of the road when they hear the whistle of my vehicle coming. So yes I believe they absolutely do work!
@@SterlingW8 I was asking more about which is the open or close because both of mines looks the same inside as in both are letting light in the center instead of one not letting light in and the other is filled in
They have to be mounted 3 feet apart for best results. It also doesn't matter what side open or closed whistle goes they work together. I worked with the importer who introduced them in the United States in th 80's. Was called deer alert.
I live in Maine and while nothing is truly 100% effective - these do help tremendously. We just might have more deer than humans especially now that we have more woods than we did 100 years ago.
Here's a question and I've been all over the internet looking for an answer. One of my deer whistles got knocked off. How can I reattach it? What adhesive would work?
Sterling,do you recommend any particular brand of deere whistle ? I recently had a near fatal collision with a deere in Newburg Wi as I crossed the bridge over the Milwaukee river @ approx.25 mph or less and slowing down as I was nearing the downtown area..I slammed on the brakes as I saw the deere on my left running in front of me just as I made it over the bridge. .It made it past the drivers side and then it sort of slipped and fell on the passenger side.I must have hit it slightly, but I did not hear or feel anything.I am not exactly sure what happened, but NO DAMAGE..The deere got back up quickly and ran away. A miracle just happened. There was actually fir from the deere stuck in one front panel.I don't have deere whistles on my jeep..Maybe I should.I went right to the bar as alcohol was the only thing that would calm me down.
Wow... i only had a couple of near misses, then i just ordered one online. But not really, it usually comes in pairs that make different sounds and are removable. Now all my cars have it as a precaution when i drive on my weekend trips.
Does anyone know which way to install them. Does it go wide side out (where the air will be coming though?) And also 3 feet apart for best results? Also, I'm not sure which whistle is which.
mine say to remove before going thru a carwash. you can see the ones in the video can be removed from the base to go thru the carwash and then you can put them back on
Like underneath? The Instructions say to put it in the front of the vehicle for airflow and sound travel. The further from the front of the vehicle the later the deer will hear it. Delaying the warning sound.
@@SterlingW8 I wrecked the first set by messing up the adhesive. so I bought a new set and installed them on the bottom grill of my 2015 2lt impala. blew in them and heard nothing. plenty of airflow. at which miles per hour do these activate?
Measure twice , cut once. You will need to buy new 3m foam tape. Taking it off slowly if you just applied it. You may need to peel off any remaining tape.
This was good but I had to listen over and over to catch his words, as he didn't speak distinctly, unless I'm just not accustomed to a California accent. But still, thanks for the info.
I recently had a car destroyed when a deer jumped in front of it. Same could happen with your truck. I have used deer whistles for years, but they had come off before the collision.
You pass or get passed by a vehicle hauling livestock and you can cause injury to them. They try to get away just like a deer but they are in a trailer.
Not true I have been around plenty of trailers with horses with 4 whistles installed on my truck and never had a problem deer and elk have always stopped and I got alot of horses deer and elk where I live

Thank you for explaining that, the product I got had no directions whatsoever!!!
Peel and stick to the most front part of the car.
@@SterlingW8 how do u know which is open vs close ?? Do you have to take the screws out and adjust one to the open or closed?
@@bledsooee you are supposed to install both whistles. Kinda like a hi low. If you want a permanent mount, then use screws.

They do work.
How do you know which one is the open and closed ones?
You can see through completely on one and not on the other. One is supersonic.
@@juliec6191 thanks!
how do you tell the front from the rear of the whistle does it matter
DIRECTION OF THEM IS VITAL!!
Bigger opening faces front.
Thank you!!

DEER ALERTS also known as DEER WHISTLES SAVED US 8 SEPARATE TIMES!!!!
My daughter’s pick up has them so saved her too!!!!!
Has any one saw deer 🦌 stop or run away because of them???? Interested to hear! I just put them between my front forks on my motorcycle.
We've had them on our vehicles 20 plus years. Yes have seen deer stop and run away. Wife has them on her Harley also.
I just installed them tonight and 4 deer stopped looked and ran away.

How do you know which one is open or closed
You look at it. They physically look different
@@SterlingW8 mine look the same!
@@staceymcdonnell3194 exactly
Look through it! One is suppose to be open that’s the one goes on the driver side & the other that closed goes on passenger side. I hope that helps
which is the front
So you basically clean the area with rubbing alcohol and stick them on the license plate area? Seems simple enough
Pretty much... you need to have both whistles in front of the car or vehicle.
Apparently works on kangaroos.
So this device is useless against car thieves, will not give you alert, right ?
Its a deer whistle. As you drive, wind makes it whistle
Unable to put on front as all covered where should I put them?
As close in front of the car or motorcycle as possible.
What's the one open one closed? Mine are the same.
Different frequencies? I noticed that too.
hold it up to the light and look directly through the small part of the center of each one that's where you can see if one is closed versus open.
Do it matter what side you put the whistle on??!
Yes! The one is opened but it one the driver side & the other one on the other side
How do you remove them if they are placed incorrectly?
Measure twice , cut once. You will need to buy new 3m foam tape. Taking it off slowly if you just applied it. You may need to peel off any remaining tape.
Do they both face the same way?
Yes you need wind to make the whistle work
Great
Just broke

it wasnt his accent!!
We don't know if the sound is working..
You don’t hear the sound.
High pitched, only dogs and wildlife hear in that range.
Thank I really didn't understand them
Why the fuck would i want these on my truck i'm hunting deer.
Lol!!!
To give them a head start. 🤣🤣🤣

Don't go through a car wash.
They slide off so I imagine just do that before going through.
