      Hi there, welcome to the scroll saw community! It looks easy now because I've been doing this for 20 years but it was not easy in the beginning. When I started I used books to learn how to scroll. I read every book I could find on scroll sawing. I did not know how to use a computer back then. Once you learn how to scroll it's a lot like walking. At first you stumble but with practice you enjoy creating any and everything you want. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. I started scrolling in February of 2020, and it was perfect timing considering how the rest of the year went! Love it. Went from a Ryobi to a Delta within 2 months. So much fun. I love how you show how you get into the very tight corners by backing out a bit and turning it around. LOVe that tip. And the putting a hole for the outline part of the word makes SO much sense instead of cutting from an edge. LEARNED TWO KEY THINGS! Thank you for sharing this! MORE!!!

    Been scrolling since 2019. Started on my dad's WEN which for the money was OK. Then I bought my Dewalt. OMG I can not believe how much I love working on it;. Now when I am looking for images I just search for silhouettes and then let my mind wander as to whether or not I can cut it or make it work. Recently just did an Iron Man Avengers wall art piece. two separate pieces of wood a front and a back, red and gold. Put a couple holes in and added some lights.

    • @Mytoya2
      @Mytoya2  3 роки тому

      Hi there!
      In one of my videos I try the magnetic sheet because one of my subscribers told me about it. I did not like it. Because for the price that sheet it doesn't last long. Little by little the hole starts to open up so then I would have to move it around to other parts of the sheet and would no longer have a completely smooth surface. I think the card trick works better for me. Thanks for the suggestion though!

It is far cheaper than using blue tape and comes right off with a heat gun. I, myself,use it and I also use 8.5 x 11 self stick shipping labels that are printable in my laser printer. About $10/100.

    Great video. Hack just as helpful. My problem is being unable to keep lower blade mount from falling off. Any suggestions please?!?😀

      What saw do you have? And does the whole assembly fall off or does the blade keep slipping out? I would love to see pics. If you have an instagram my name there is mytoyaNcalifornia

      @@Mytoya2 Is is a Shop Fox 19" and it the whole assembly that drops off. It is a typical blade holder made to hold pinless blades. And when using pinned blades these holders aren't used at all. I'm not on Instagram but I will see if I can find you there and add a picture.

      Hi there, I am. It familiar with that particular saw but this is one of the reasons I recommend getting a saw that does not need an attachment. It sounds like the part that holds the attachment may be the problem. Again I am not familiar with that saw. Do you mind if I video message you tomorrow?

      In my videos I am using a Dewalt 788. I own a delta 20 inch as well. They are both great saws.

      Hi there, I am using a flying dutchman #5 scroll reverse. This is the size blade I use most. I order my blades from the wooden teddy bear. They have been around for years. They also has beautiful patterns, clock parts, acrylic an all kinds of other scroll saw goodies. Very good company!

      @@Mytoya2 what type of wood do you find best for scroll sawing, so far I've tried 1/4 thick Birchwood with Olson spiral blades but am unsatisfied with the end result plus the Birchwood kind of warps after a bit of sitting

      Hi there, I like to use 1/4inch or 1/2 inch MDF. I also use 1/2 inch sandi plywood. It's already really smooth. When I use plywood I make sure there is cardboard under it and I use the same #5 flying dutchman scroll reverse blade. This helps with splintering.

      Spiral blades have there uses but I like the clean cut of regular blades.

      I also use walnut , paduk, lacewood and other species of wood but these days people are into the painted signs. I plan on going back to fretwork and using better wood.
