I wish my grandpa had lived longer because he did what you do. He died when I was 5. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I love wordworking but I'm relying on people like you to help me. You're my surrogate grandpa. Thanks man. People like me really appreciate you sharing your knowledge.
I have been a wood shop teacher for about 20 years now and I still learn new woodworking tricks all of the time! Thanks for this tip! It will greatly improve my students scroll saw projects as well as my own!
It would be great if you made a video describing the different types of blades. I want to order blades to do more precise work, but it’s my first scroll saw and I don’t know what will fit my machine or what brand or style would be best.
Great tips, thanks. I did the wrong thing by starting out scrolling with spiral blades. I’m learning now with the straight plain blades on my Dewalt 788. These tips help me a lot.
Tom, I did as well because I didn't know better (and listened to a guy that swore by them). I still use them from time to time but only when I can't get a 27" project to clear my 21" throat. :)
Wow, I haven't ventured in scroll sawing yet but it is next on my list. In the meantime, watching lots of videos and trying to become familiar. You make this look incredibly easy, obviously comes with time and experience. My question is - do you have to spend a lot of money on a saw to obtain this level of precision? Any suggestions for a beginner saw?
Stepannie - yes, many hours of practice. NO, you don't have to spend a lot of money to get started. Harbor freight, Craftsman and a few others are less than $150 starter machines. We all probably started out with these machines and then moved up when we "got the scrolling bug". Good luck and keep us informed. Fred
Yeah, I see,,, this eagle I cut had little details , little curves at the claws for exampel,, couldn't turn the piece that sharp, what about spiral blades in such cases? I've found some on the net.
Yasmin, as long as the saw is running and I turn rather slowly, the blades will not twist or break. Over time the blade may break at the top or bottom due to deflection and old age. Mostly I use Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse #5. Thanks for asking.
what type of blade is that? i am new to scrolling but my blades dont allow me to turn so sharp; they tend to bend with the wood preventing me from those nice sharp points.
Frito - I personally use Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse blades. Regarding ur saw - If you are happy with your saw then it's the best one for you. Can you explain "blade turns way too much"?
Fred Wilson He probably is referring to the blade not staying straight as you go around a tight curve. My blades do the same thing. I can literally see the blade “bending” as I turn the wood to make a tight curve. However, I’m a newbie to the scroll saw so I could definitely be doing something wrong🤷🏼♀️
For me, I use hot glue along the edges - the bottom layer is slightly larger than the top layer do I can get a good bead around the project. Thanks for asking.

Why would anyone give this video a thumbs down very odd to me. This video has good tips. Great job!
That is perfect! I just couldn't figure out the hard angle into a radius. I owe you one brother! THANK UOU SO MUCH!
The type of blades I use (and I don't work for the companies involved) are Flying Dutchman #3 Ultra Reverse. thanks for your question.

Impressive. It's amazing how the super thin and log blade can cut through wood like butter.

Wow 😲😲😲😍🤩
THank u.
Do you recommend spiral saw or flat saw? -- would you recommend Amazon purchase link for the blade you use?
What type of blade are u using?
Which blade you are using?
amazing pisan
Which is the best blade for making tight, sharp corner turns?
Try Pegas brand "Modified Geometry #5"...
Rob and Mike - I would rather use a #3 or #1 for sharper corners (depending on the species and thickness of wood of course)

@@fredwilson4345 Thank you so much! I was actually just looking at the Harbor Freight saw. Appreciate the response. 😁
@@stephanniehennessey4684 Just remember that you get what you pay for - but ya gotta start somewhere, right?
عمل رائع وجميل جدا
What kind of wood do you work with in this vid? Just cut some 20 mm oak, to hard for the equipment, I think, which sorts do you recommend?
This vid was with two pieces of 6.35 mm. Even with 20mm oak, the same techniques are valid. I just increase the size of the blade (usually #5 or #7)

The blades dont twist n break when u turn the wood piece while cutting?

Joseph Padilla - I have the same issue. I only have a pin-end blade, and they are much thicker than the one in video.

What kind of blades do u use. I have a craftsmen scroll saw. Do u think I need a better one ? It just seems that the blade turns way too much. Thanks

I hav the same blade bending problem.....
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure some blade twist is normal.
Good luck
what kind of wood ???
For sketch, what glue type u're use?
Thanks for asking. I mainy use Titebond II
what kind of scroll saw are you using
Robert Alexander I
Just speak a bit louder when the machine is on 😉 btw love your work
Thank you for the suggestion and thank you for the reply
what size blade did you use? is it a spiral blade?
I am using a Flying Dutchman #3 Ultra Reverse - and, NO, it is not a spiral blade. Spirals will not be able to make this sharp of an inside corner.
The blade is a "straight" blade #3 Ultra Reverse - not a spiral
what are you using to keep your stacks together? Thank you
For me, I use hot glue along the edges - the bottom layer is slightly larger than the top layer do I can get a good bead around the project. Thanks for asking.
Personally, I use hot glue to keep them together. Many folks use masking tape but I find it to move and loose the accuracy of the cuts.

What scroll saw do you use?
My personal scroll saw is an Excaliber EX21
Excaliber EX-21
What is the name of the machine you are using
I suck at the scroll saw....teach me your ways 😂
Simple really, keep practising 😆
What is the name this machine
Can you repeat whatever you said while the blade was running again plz
What type of machine did you used?
Personally I prefer the EX21 Excalibur
Where can I get a paper motive of the thing you are making, looks cool.
I believe I got it from woodenteddybear.com
Name of this scroll saw please ?
The one I am presently using is an Excaliber. That being said, I have one of the new Pegases saws on order.
I want machine, price and address, pl.
