Blade Slipping?
Переглядів 5562 роки тому
This video shows one of the reasons your blade might be slipping. Also make sure your table is zeroed out. If that doesn't help you use sand paper and sand the ends of your blade. you can also turn your set screw if it's worn or replace your set screw and make sure your blade is in the center of the set screw and the thumb screw. Happy Scrolling!

Nice work. I a new to the scroll saw and it seems that when I turn the wood, the blade also turns. How can I fix this. You make it look so easy. Lol
@@CALLSIGNSAWDUST Hi there, welcome to this scroll saw world! What kind of School saw are you using? What size blade? And how fast is your speed going? I need a little more info to answer your question.
How do you turn corners so smoothly. When i get to a corner my blade will try to turn with it or it doesn't catch at the right place. You make it look effortless
Watched a lot of videos on scroll saw stuff, i really enjoy watching you work. Thanks show sharing w us!
@@wolfitgood Thank you for watching! How long have you been scrolling? And what saw do you have?
I'm not sure if you're still monitoring this channel but wanted to tell you I miss your video's and hope you're doing well. Best wishes from Lori in Scottsdale, AZ!!!
Thank you for reaching out Lori! I really appreciate you!🩷 Life just got a little busy. I plan on making more videos real soon. I'm working on a horse trailer. I want it to be my mobile woodshop. I've also been decorating lots of cupcakes and mini cake. As soon a the weather permits I will get outside to work on things. It's been 119 degrees almost everyday.
@@Mytoya2 So great to hear you're doing well! Sounds like you've been busy with a lot of creative projects. That's very exciting news about converting the horse trailer to a mobile woodshop. What a fantastic idea! It's been brutally hot here too. I can't wait for cooler temps to start working in the shop again. I'm using this time to create patterns and order supplies so I'll be ready to go. Stay well and try to keep cool. Best wishes!!!
@@SawdustmakerLori Thank you!🩷
Nice and crisp cutting beautiful work I really love your work ❤❤
Thank you so much!
I have a Silhouette, Business edition software is the version I use. Did you just print those on a printer? Love your work, and instruction! And what brand of scroll saw do you use? I am wanting to buy one.
Hi there, I am using a DeWalt 788 scrollsaw. Yes, I printed my pattern with a regular printer. If I have a Large design, I print one part of the pattern then move it over and print the other part of the pattern. You'll see in one of my other videos I take the patterns and hold them up to the sliding glass patio door and use it as a light box while I tape the pages together. I am not very techy. I love love love the silhouette program. I started out using coreldraw but when I found out how easy silhouette was, I stopped using coreldraw. I never upgraded. I am still using just the basic silhouette program.
@@Mytoya2 Awesome, thank you! What font is that in this video? I love it! I appreciate you getting back to me. New sub here! I can learn a lot from your videos.
So sorry! I'm not sure. I made that video so long ago. I will make sure to include the name of the fonts when I create patterns.
And, Wow! Nice work on the patterns near the end!
Ok I'm glad I found your video. I have the book. And for the butterfly patten. It suggests a loop cut; in order to make sharp edges. Also via cutting out the waste portion. And I know either is fine. Lmk your thoughts please! ❤
Im so glad that you take the time and show the hands on process of scrolling. Im a newbie and your videos have been very helpful..i appreciate the length of your videos

Hello cutting saw number ?
Hi there this is a #5 flying Dutchman scroll reverse.
@@Mytoya2 It is very nice for women to engage in art in this way. Thank you. Greetings from Turkey, love.
Love your names, is there some place to order the patterns? I have 2 new grandsons!
No. I made them with the free Silhouette program I speak about on 2 of my other videos. If you find me on Instagram or Facebook I can make patterns for the 2 names and send them to you via messenger or in the Instagram direct messages. 🤗
I have been a wood worker of 7 years , however, scrolling is brand new for me. Where can I get NAME patterns ?
excellent work love those desk top names. i started scrolling about 3 months ago. you make it look easy. i hope i get better. i have a delta 40-640. very old machine. got it for $40. fixed the blade holder and Im now addicted to scrolling will follow you for tips and inspiration. hopefuly ill be able to get a dewalt. theyre expensive. keep up you beautiful work
Hi friend, Thank you for your kind comments! what kind of things are you making? I love doing fretwork. I've been scrolling since the year 2000. I've always made things that people ask for. As of this year I will no longer do custom orders. I'm going to go back to doing intricate scrolling which makes me happy. I'd love to see some of your work. I'm also on Instagram tiktok and Facebook. I will be posting again soon. Right now I'm working on a horse trailer. I'm trying to convert it into my mobile wood shop.
I love the idea of the larger scrolled projects. My tendency is things like Christmas ornaments with way too many insertions and blades like .5 pencil lead. Just curious where those patterns came from. I'd like to do something similar for my step daughter but don't know where to start. Thanks for the relaxing video!
Very nice, how did you do your letters.
Hi there, I used a free program named Silhouette to make the pattern. I have a few videos on this UA-cam page explaining more about it and how to use it. I then print the pattern off , attach it to my wood and cut.
I haven't scrolled for a few years but I completed great deal of projects on my Hawk. You are a very good scroller.
Thank you so much! 🙏🏾 What are your favorite things to scroll? I love doing fretwork.
I made a lot of jigsaw puzzles for the grandkids and friends. I don't have much interest in working with wood now tho.
@@stephendickinson9929 I understand. 🙏🏾
Great work, you make this look so easy. I'm just starting out and I love what can be done with a scroll saw.
Thank you for your kind comment! What's your favorite out of all the things you've scrolled? I love doing fretwork.🥰
@@Mytoya2 I use my scroll saw to create names for my jewelry boxes. I'm learning that there are other uses for this tool as well.

Hi there,🤗Which saw are you getting?
Hi, I am picking up my Ryobi in the morning (Sunday in Australia) a 16"@@Mytoya2
@@davidsandford8343 How's the scrolling going with your new saw?
@@Mytoya2, I have it here, but still building my woodworking shed! Been heatwave conditions in Australia, so work is slow
What bran of saw do you use?
Hi there🤗, I have a DeWalt 788
@@Mytoya2 what program or stencil font do you use for words. Thanks G
I have a few videos on this channel that shows you a little about the program I use called Silhouette. It's a free program you can download.
I have a Ryobi scroll saw that only takes pin blades. Do you think pin blades are good and can do like pinnless.
is that pin or pinless blade? Also, do you work with pinned blades? I was wondering if we can do the same with pin blades
The first butterfly was smoother. With the second name your hands were really close to the blade as you said they would be. Next time you could leave the board longer at the end so you can have something to hold onto. But your work is outstanding thanks for sharing.
Great video. What blades do you use?
62 years old just retire watching you working on your saw wanting to get into it in know a little old to start thanks
Hi There….Just finished watching a couple of your introductory scroll saw videos. I can see how skilled you are and hope I can achieve your level of finesse. My scroll saw has not arrived yet but soon I can begin learning to hone my skills with intarsia projects. You mentioned in your butterfly video about a book of patterns that you recommended but I’m afraid I didn’t catch the name of the book or the author….could you please respond with that info….Regards, Charlie

Hi getting into the hobby. You have some really cool stuff. Are you still doing it?
Very nicely done Mytoya. Love your soft voice.
Thank you! ❤️
what kind of blade are you using
I am using a #5 flying Dutchman scroll reverse. I will be posting a video on blades soon. I buy them from the wooden teddy bear.
Very nice. How thick should be to start
Hi there, if you're just starting out scrolling you need to start with quarter inch. I usually suggest quarter inch MDF because it's soft. If you have an Instagram or Facebook find me there. I would love to chat with you and help in any way. I can't. On Facebook I am Mytoya Pritchett. On Instagram I am MytoyaNcalifornia
Impressive 😊, im new to wood working, could you please tell me the kind of wood you are using for the name plate projects
Thank you and welcome to the scroll saw community! I am using pine from Home Depot. Pine is a soft wood and easy to cut.
Do you have a video that talks about which blades are used for the best results. I’m just starting out and the blade assortment is overwhelming! Thank you.
Hi there! I will do a video next week on this topic. Do you have Instagram or Facebook? If so send me a text from either of those so I can send you a voice message or we can chat using messenger or Instagram. I would love to help you with this! 🤗

Can you share this pattern? Thanks.
Great job. I have been hanging my letter projects to paint. Do you paint one side, let dry, and paint the other side?
Hi there, I only paint one side since it will have a backer of some sort.
Fantastic!!!! But wow, that's a lot of inside-pierced cuts. Great job!!!!
Hi there, the inside -pierced cuts are my favorite. 🤗
Where do you find patterns/ website for names? Want to do some for Christmas
Hi there, So sorry I'm just seeing your post. I make my own patterns using the silhouette program. The program is free. Look up silhouette Cameo program.
Love this, but can you tell me why whenever I do a sharp corner, my blade snaps ?
