    I just purchased a gently used DeWalt 788 and I'm excited to learn how to use it! I have watched quite a few videos, but I'm so glad I found yours! Your tips and tricks are very similar to the "old school scrollers," but the way you explain everything, and the position of your camera (which is PERFECT) keeps the viewers engaged! I found it so much easier to pay attention to your entire video (compared to others!) Thanks so much for sharing your talent and technique! You're an excellent teacher!

    Ok I'm glad I found your video. I have the book. And for the butterfly patten. It suggests a loop cut; in order to make sharp edges. Also via cutting out the waste portion. And I know either is fine. Lmk your thoughts please! ❤

      Hi there, Scrolling really is similar to using a sewing machine. When I started scrolling 20 years ago I used a few of my mom's quilting patterns to cut out shapes. When you purchase your scroll saw make sure to get a saw that uses pinless blades and buy a foot pedal as well. You will really feel like you're using a sewing machine. 🤗

    Enjoyed the video. I've watched many vids on scrolling but you are the first to explain about pulling the board towards you to prevent cutting whilst rotating . . . . excellent advice, obvious once you know it, but I didn't, so thank you. I imagine many others are thinking the same.

      @@Mytoya2 I have just bought a Dremel MS20 Moto Saw. It is compact and worktop mountable for in my shed which is mainly full of railway track and stuff. I've always loved working with wood and have become disabled at the age of 62 and realise that it is building/making things that keeps me going. As much as I loved building the huge railway layout I'm not so bothered about running it . . . that's more for the grandkids. So I thought scrolling would be a new hobby to start. If I really get into it I'll build another shed because of the dust and upgrade to a DeWalt 788 which seems to be the best.

I know I'll be good at it within a short while . . . modelling is what I am good at so this is just another version I suppose. I sure that when I've cruised the internet on scrolling I find a niche that might inspire me. Thanks

    Great video, thank you so much. You make it look so easy and I know it is from your extensive experience, but you make me feel like if I put in the effort, I can do it too. I was set to begin yesterday, but power outages had other ideas. I get such anxiety at those corners, but your explanation and example of "spinny-dos" makes me think that with practice, I'll get the hang of it.

      You can do this. Make sure to stop pushing when you want to turn. So stop pushing, hold your wood down with 1 hand and turn with the other. Find me on instagram if you want to video chat so I can see what you are doing with your hands when you are turning. You will find me under mytoyaNcalifornia. Hope that helps.

    Great video... where is that workbook you said you would tell about? Also, the saw blades. Another question: You mentioned the DeWalt machine, yet at the end of the video, I saw 'Delta' ... I am about to buy one or the other...

    • @Mytoya2
      @Mytoya2  3 роки тому

      Hi there, the saw I am using to cut is a dewalt 788. And I'm so sorry I did not post the book but here is a link to the book on my Instagram page. instagram.com/p/CLKg4ehjOi-/?igshid=1doy8tasw8n8l . I have both saws the DeWalt and the delta. The Delta has been put away for at least a year now and I'm only using my DeWalt. From what I understand they are both now the same saw. That's why I bought the Delta to check it out. they seem the same to be except for their different colors and the Delta is less expensive unless you find it online somewhere from a person.
