Absolutely love the use of multiple cameras for different angles. More people should take after you on that one. Also, really like how informative you are and the process you took in the video. Right on man! Keep it up!
My grandad willed me my JK. I plan to keep it forever like my 68C10. I can see I have 2 options. Stock up on new in the box plastic dash board panels, or rip out all the old cracking plastic and fabricate a metal front dash with aftermarket steering column one day. I sure miss the old steel dashes.
Straightforward instructions best video I've ever seen explaining removal of Dash and instrument cluster.. Thanks for all your efforts the extra lighting the cameras.. Professional description.. Thank You..
You could be a studio producer cameraman at least... Additional cameras shrimitive difference every aspect of your video is meticulously professionally done I'm a good mechanic but sometimes when you've not performed a project it can go very slow.. Thanks for showing me all of the necessaries to remove dash. You're a pro Thanks for your help Peters
Thank you so much for this video. I need to check on two bare wires that I just found leading to some kind of a box behind that panel below the steering wheel. Was afraid to pull with as much force as you did. so your video is helpful for me in 2020.
Dang, you have to remove a lot more than I anticipated. My dad wants to attempt to fix my vents (the knob keeps wanting to turn 'up', and all 3 vents are blowing. I'm not hearing the "clunk" that happens when I change which vent blows). We'll see if he still want to try after I show this.
Appreciate it! I was able to follow your instructions and hook up some interior LED lights to the cigarette lighter power outlet in my wife's 2016 Jeep Wrangler
Great video ! My radio goes without sound randomly fir weeks.. i think its the wires to the ampplifier.. have you ever replaced, your amplifier, thank you!
Great video. Of course I dropped the first 7mm bolt and can't find it for the life of me. Happen to know the size or part no, or where I can source it easily?
I'm hearing a noise when I hit a rough bump. It's driving me nuts. A chaffing noise . It's ok on the hwy. But as soon as I hit a bumpy road, it starts to chafe. Like a loose screw. I was hoping to get under the dash to see what it was . Now I know how to expose the internal workings
Excellent video! Question, I am going to be pulling my dash panels to look for a noise back there. Any ideas of what could be rattling or what to look for? Thanks!
Sure! I've got a whole series of videos on a Liberty, did you have something specific in mind? Thanks for watching and if you haven't already, don't forget to subscribe to keep up on all the new videos! Thanks again!
This is exactly what I was looking to do. Thanks for multiple angles. Quick question. Why wouldn't you recommend the Tuffy glove box? I was looking at one and would love to hear your reasons. Thanks!
There are quite a few reasons I would not recommend the TUFFY glove box, have you watched my video on it? It's an install video, but I think I give some info on it at the end. Thanks for watching!
Hi thanks for the video ,, I have a question ,, suppose I need to get to the Evaporator , then I would need to do what you did in this video and go further by removing more parts ,, correct ? do I need to remove the steering wheel completely or can It just be dropped down to the floor and out of the way ,, which there was a video on getting to the HVAC and replacing the Evaporator ..forgot to mention I have a 2013 Wrangler
Thanks for the great video and instructions!! I had to replace my remote control mirror switch this weekend. Did not take as long as I had expected it to, you instructions were great. Thanks!!
Thanks for the video. Looks perfect. Question: Are you able to see any of the steering components once the dash is removed? I have a clunking sound that's coming from behind the instrument cluster that I want to check out.
I'm honestly not sure, I didn't look, but if the sound is coming from back there you should be able to locate it with all these panels removed. Thanks for watching!
I know I am way late to the party, but .... I have a 2013 JKUS that has the tombstone speakers that I can't stand. I see you have the flat versions. Can you tell me if that from piece of the dash is interchangeable with other years that have the flat already. Also, is the front part of the dash fairly easy to remove?
Here are a few different kits - (5pc Kit) - amzn.to/2F7vrnx (12pc Kit) - amzn.to/2KrTnGD (23pc Kit) - amzn.to/2KS7u7n You can find all of these and more tools I use in my Amazon storefront in the tools section - www.amazon.com/shop/rockyxtv Thanks for watching!
Do you know the parts number to the bash clips? I’m guessing the ones you said that pop off. I’m looking to buy some new ones for around the radio area.
Dude thank you so much! Question: I'm pretty much a newb to this kind of jeep work.. I'm going to be adding some window/hood lights and the only thing I need to access would be the stock OEM switch panel (2015 JK), do I have to take all this stuff off to access it? Or can I use a few tools and just pop it out? Thanks!
I believe the lights are integrated LED's. I don't think they can be changed, at least not easily. I'm not 100% sure of this, you may try asking around in some of the Jeep forums. Sorry I couldn't give you a complete answer, but thanks for watching!
The holster is from a company called Zero Tolerance. I made a video on it, but had to take it down because of some new "rules" at the time. The shift knobs are from Drake Off-Road. I think the shifters are in my Amazon storefront in the Jeep Wrangler Parts section - www.amazon.com/shop/rockyxtv Thanks for watching!
Great video, I dont think there is really any difference for the 2010 JK, right? Also another question, there is a metal plate where you put your amplifier (original plate), is that necessary to have something bolted between those two vertical metal posts? I am planning on mounting light switches in the plastic cover below the steer wheel and a couple relays so the wiring will not allow the metal plate to remain in place. Do you think this is alright? Thanks.
It's from DayStar, I got it on Amazon. I'm not sure if they still sell it though. If you find one, I would definitely recommend it! Thanks for watching!
My 73 year old mother dropped her keys between windshield & dashboard. If i remove dashboard as oer your video, do you think i will be able to retrieve them?Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks for the great video!
If you remove the panels shown in the video it should give you access to just about anywhere you need. Some spots may be tight, but I think you would be able to retrieve those keys by doing this. Thanks for watching!
Question: I'm looking at adding a light pod/bar switch to the empty switch spots where the Electronic Sway Bar Disconnect and Locker buttons would be on a Rubicon. They are located above the left speaker. Any tips or tricks to get those out? Would you still need to take apart the dash to get to that area?
I can't say for sure as I do not have a Rubicon so I think my panels are just a little different on that side. I can say that if you pop the lower knee plate trim panel off (under steering wheel) there should be a few 7mm bolts behind there, those may help you get your switch/button panel out.
@@RockyXTV Your video helped a lot. I was able to get in to the exact area I wanted to: the switch bay under the AC controls. However, I found that those are not independent switch locations.. there's a housing that holds all those switches together and is harnessed in. So I wasn't able to get the switch installed there. So I cut a whole where the mesh speaker cover is on the left side. Easy cuts (since there's already tiny holes) and the switch looks good there.
I need to get into the side panel of my dashboard. Does that crescent shaped side panel pop out or do I have to remove the entire dashboard like you did? The reason I ask is that I have a switch installed to the left side of my steering wheel in the dash.that switch has gone bad and the only way I can get to it is by taking off either that small panel or the whole dash. The switch won't pop out
That is the DayStar lower dash switch panel. There are 2 different ones, one for 2007-2010 - goo.gl/hxaAkr and one for 2011-2018 - goo.gl/BXaUc3 They can both be found in my Amazon Storefront - www.amazon.com/shop/rockyxtv They are listed under Switches and Electrical. Thanks for watching!
My vent selector knob backlight flickers on and off. Does that sound like one of the connectors is not fully seated or a bad vent knob assembly unit entirely? Thanks!
With it being just the vent knob and not the others, I'm guessing the light for that knob is going out. I have no clue if they can be repaired or if the whole unit has to be replaced. I would check the connections like you said though, hope you get away with a simple bad connection. Thanks for watching!
a bic lighter was lost on my dash.fell into the duct "defrost vent " i think. can i acess it like that ? its messing with my defrost on the driver side lower corner of the windshield
Im looking for a place under my dash to put the remote box for my CB radio. How do I remove the passenger side dash to see if theres room under there ?
I don't think I've removed that section, at least not that I remember. As far as room over there, it would be limited as you have the air bag, glove box, heater box and a few other odds and ends. Sorry I couldn't be of an help, thanks for watching though!
I don't recall if I ever removed that side. Unfortunately I no longer have a Wrangler, so I can't experiment for you. I'm really sorry I couldn't be of any help.
Removing the speaker requires a few more steps. They can be a little tricky to get out. Unfortunately I don't have a video on that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but thanks for watching!

Awesome video. Your narrative, use of multiple camera angles and the sound quality is top notch. Great job and thank you for simplifying it!

Do you know how many videos I've had to go thru just to see someone doing what I needed?! Lol
Thank you!!
Don’t forget to mention how to undo the clip on the window controls… broke mine when I thought I had undone it…… Thanks for the video.
I often wondered how to remove this to get to the dead switches, Rocky thanx for this straight to the point video!
Thank you for watching, glad this could help!
Appreciate it! I was able to follow your instructions and hook up some interior LED lights to the cigarette lighter power outlet in my wife's 2016 Jeep Wrangler
Perfect! Just what I was looking for. Thanks for a direct and to-the-point tutorial!
Agree with GPLOCK. Good to the point video. Good sound, lighting and camera angles. Thank you!
Thank you for watching!
Straight to the point with no BS. Good video it helped me. Got a video from the passenger side dash removal ? Thanks
This was a top notch video. Clear and concise. Thanks much for the time and effort!
Thank you very much for taking the time to comment!
Thanks for watching!
Great video! Super helpful and not a lot of fluff. Thanks!
thanks much, very detailed video and just what I needed to remove without damage or stess.......job well done
Glad the video was helpful. Thank you for watching!
Great little video I really like that you describe things well and kept it short
Thanks! I'm glad you like the video. Thanks for watching!
Great informational video Rocky. My wife actually talked about trading in her Charger for a jeep.
Thanks Chad! Tell her my wife and I think she should go for the Jeep!
Will do!
Thanks, fixing to find out why my radio isn’t working and needed to know how to get to it.
Awesome we’ll put together video!!! Now I can make a mess of my Jeep.😂 Thanks again great job.
Thank you for watching! I hope you don't mess it up too bad 😆
Thanks! Your instructions made it a breeze!
Great video ! My radio goes without sound randomly fir weeks.. i think its the wires to the ampplifier.. have you ever replaced, your amplifier, thank you!
I’ve been trying to figure this out forever now so I can paint it. Thanks so much! Made it super easy and informative!
Very VERY nice video.. perfect man
today you were my hero!
This is a great demonstration, thanks!!
Great Video as always.
Thanks for watching!
Good job, It will be really easer to do this for me...
Glad the video could help. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Of course I dropped the first 7mm bolt and can't find it for the life of me. Happen to know the size or part no, or where I can source it easily?
You may have to check ebay or Amazon. I've lost a few of these myself. I've also never gotten around to finding replacements 😆

What kind of phone mount is that? By the way this helped me immensely !!!
Excellent video! Question, I am going to be pulling my dash panels to look for a noise back there. Any ideas of what could be rattling or what to look for? Thanks!
Honestly there could be who knows what rattling around back there... It is a Jeep after all LOL! Thanks for watching!
Great video dude
Thanks for checking it out!
Worked like a champ for me today replacing the dash portion itself. Thanks!
Clear and no bs
Great video; could you make other video for Jeep Liberty?

Sweet! I am looking for. Grommet through the firewall on the driver side. Did you do an A piller removal?
Awesome video thank you. Can you manually select heat when you take it apart ? Just wondering because it might take awhile before I can get the part .
I don't believe so. I think once you unplug the heater control panel it basically shuts your heat and A/C off completely.
Where did the switch panel that replaced the one with the net under the A/C controls come from?
It's from a company called Daystar. You can find them on Amazon by searching for Daystar Jeep Switch Panel.
Very well explained, thank you.
I subscribed, thanks for help
Thank you!

That is not the center dash for a 2007-2011 Jeep JK. You need to modify your title.
Thanks for the video.
Just came across your video - straight and to the point! Question: what is the blue tool you used to pry out the window switches?

ok first of all, thank you for this video... second, can you tell me about your gun holster and the gear shifts please???

any concerns with 2014 SRS / air bag switches or sensors when removing center console components?

It would have been nice if you would have shown us a view of the actual piece to we can see where all the bold points were in a single view
What brand is that switch panel that replaced the netting at the bottom of the dash? Thank you.
Thanks for watching!

its messing with my defrost on the driver side lower corner of the windshield

I put mine behind the glove box.
And more success 🙌 🙏 👌 to you bro
thank you brother!
Thank you for watching!
How exactly does one watch in reverse is this possible?
How would I remove the other side of the panel?
As in the passenger side where the air bag is? I've never removed that side.
How to remove the other part with airbag passenger I stock in that part I'm a fried I could blow the airbag plz advise
I don't recall if I ever removed that side. Unfortunately I no longer have a Wrangler, so I can't experiment for you. I'm really sorry I couldn't be of any help.
@@RockyXTV thanks man
What if you want to take out the passenger side dash panel how do you do that?
That is a little more of a process as you have the airbag to deal with over there. Unfortunately I don't have a video on that side.
After removing that dash panel does the left speaker panel come off as well?
Removing the speaker requires a few more steps. They can be a little tricky to get out. Unfortunately I don't have a video on that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but thanks for watching!
Nice work
Thank you 👍
Thank you for watching!
Im looking for your amblyfire what kind brand ? Thanx.
The amp is a Soundstream amp. I show a little more of it in this video - ua-cam.com/video/LSEnjf_Fbvg/v-deo.html Thanks for watching!
How do you take off the piece on top of the glove box?
Above the glove box is the air bag I believe, I haven't taken that apart. Sorry I couldn't be of much help with that.
Rocky X TV No problem, thank you!
This is great! I sure wish someone would do this for the JL too!
Maybe soon, the plan was to have a JL this year, but I decided to wait until the truck comes out. I also have a rule about buying the first model year of a vehicle, I don't buy them. I always wait and let others find out what the bugs are and see if they get fixed. If that makes any sense, thanks for watching!
Thanks sir!!!🙏
Thank you

I have not seen a single video of how to remove that inner structure.
This is the same for a right hand drive
Perfect
Thank you for watching!
Woot woot 🙌
Yes sir 👏
Wow... Ty...
Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment!
Would like to note a 2009 JK does not have this style, there is no center switch to pull out and the drivers side and the radio console are separate, the title to his should be corrected to show the correct years.
Thanks
good
its not they same on a 09 jeep wangler
This shit scares me to death.
Why is that?
