Thanks for the walkthrough. I have a very similar setup with aftermarket radio and RH cage, and I've been avoiding for the same reason. Maybe I'll go ahead and do the same now.
They stripped the airbag bolt on mine, had to keep the Jeep for two weeks - they did give me a loaner, and I was traveling... so, it worked out. Apparently the bolts are easy to strip/round over as I was told they’re aluminum.
Thanks for this! I too have been putting this off for similar reasons. Now that I see what is involved, I can prep my Jeep too for the job. I don’t have a dash bar though.
Yeah they told me the same thing that I had to takeoff everything off my dash so they could do the work then they found out I was friends with the general manager and they did everything.lol
I had to go through the same process of removing the same interior mods before taking the Jeep in for this recall. Had a similar experience when the dealer had to replace the front airbag sensor that is located behind the grill. This required removal of the winch, front grill and passenger side headlight.
Same here. I just don’t trust dealer mechanics especially for something like this where there is no money to be made. You know they will rush it and not put all the bolts back, etc. I have avoided taking mine in because I don’t want them pulling the dash and then I get squeaks and rattles because they didn’t care enough to put it back together correctly.
Hi, does mounting the cell phone mount to the passenger grab handle bolt (similar to the way you have mounted it in the video) pose a risk during air bag deployment? From where exactly does the passenger Airbag in a JK actually come out? Thank you for the help.
Holy hell sir I'm experiencing this tomorrow morning I've avoided it since 2015 in my 14 same color everything I went 3 times over the years and was told so many excuses and mine is untouched on inside except a phone holder on grab bar they never have parts tech is not here this month and then the best one was they said we can't do it because your lift and suspension are too high I'm fed up but idiot calif now will not let you register for tags without it
how/where does it shoot out? I'm thinking of mounting a cup holder to the bar in front of the passenger above the glove box, will that get in the way? Thanks!
Do they need to hook up a programmer to my Jeep to do the airbag? My Jeep is a 2016 Rubicon with an unlocked ECM and I don't want them to touch the ECM at all.

Nah, the cage bolts to the top of the windshield too. It’s not just unbolting those either. Once the bolts are out, the cage gets out of wack and you have to loosen everything to reinstall.
Nice vid, CPO. I have a 2015 Rubicon that has the PCM swap from Superchips for the Trail Dash 2. I worry that the dealer might flash my unlocked PCM and render my TD2 useless. Did you have any problems with that?

Thank you so much! You saved me a ton of time. I have the same Rock Hard cage.

you would be surprised how many people bring there cars in to our shop for recalls that are full of crap, good job

I have the same cage minus the secaine radio. I didnt have an issue taking mine in. The dealership didnt even have to remove my cage.
Welcome back bud
I had mine done last summer, lucky for me I just had to remove my vector dash bar
Jeep keeps buggin me about mine as well but i havent take it in because i worry about them fucking it up.

I have yet to take mine in for the recall, lol.
It's only been a year. :-)
As a recall tech at Chrysler dealship, you sir did way too much work, that can come out in 2 minutes 😂
What did he not have to remove. Is there another video out there?

Thanks!
Where did you get the glove box? I need one of those
Jeeps don’t need no stinkin’ airbags!
Took mine in and they didn't put the dash back together right. Haven't had a chance to go back in to get them to fix it yet.
That sucks. That's why I like to do everything myself.
This is the very reason I have not had mine done.
What kind of mounting bar is that?

Hi Where are the module control airbags?
When was the recall announced?
January 2019. static.nhtsa.gov/odi/rcl/2019/RCLRPT-19V018-6898.PDF
What years are the recalls? I haven’t received any info on it. I have a 2017JKU.

Since you were in Major Disassemble Mode... You could have Folded the Windshield down just for Fun! 😝
Hahaha. Yeah, cuz I want the window to whistle from then on hahaha

Be careful and be safe from a passenger airbag

Not yet. Here's hoping.
@@o3djeeps Good luck! Please update. :0)
@@o3djeeps Can we get an update? Thanks, CPO.
@@MajorPayne550E hmmm... looks like the dealership may have whacked CPO. i'm holding off on dismantling until nefarious activity has been ruled out.
I sent you an email. Great channel!
