- I like Spigen cases. Their Reventon is one of my favourite cases. BUT how about their screen protectors. Specifically the Nano Liquid? This product in general is a great addition to a smartphone setup that includes a case and an existing screen protector. I personally don’t think liquid screen protectors have enough features to warrant being used on their own.

Specifically for the Spigen Glastr Nano Liquid, my focus with this product was the re-adding of the Oleophobic coating and scratch resistance the product offered my iPhone. After I show you the results of the tests, I’ll tell you how I would personally use a liquid screen protector.
From my understanding, every liquid screen protector is generally the same. It’s made from Silicone Dioxide or SiO2. It’s liquid glass. You’re basically adding a thin layer of glass to your existing glass. The Spigen product is made in America which might be important for some. TARIFFS!
Every liquid screen protector I used was installed in the same manner. Clean your screen and then use a wet wipe to slather the liquid screen protector all over the screen of the device that you want to use. For my oleophobic test, I used an iPhone X which had 1/2 of the device stripped down to the glass with a magic eraser and an 5 year old iPad.
I did water droplet tests on both devices prior to adding the liquid screen protector to see how poorly the oleophobic coatings worked. I then installed the screen protector, waited 48 hours for the product to fully cure and tried the water droplet tests again. Thee wasn’t much of a difference between the two which was disappointing.
My fingerprint tests didn’t fare any better which was disappointing as well. Now one might think that nothing was actually applied to the screen but the screen on my old iPad felt like new. These liquid screen protectors technically smooth over older screens, filling in the gaps where the previous coating has been worn down so having my iPad screen feel new again was a pleasant surprise.
When it comes to scratch resistance, technically the Nano Liquid screen protector does improve the scratch protection it offers your device. The Nano glass is of 9H hardness which is cool. As I mentioned above, you’re basically adding a thin layer of glass to your device which will improve the scratch resistance BUT unlike traditional screen protectors, you can’t remove it after it gets damaged. So it looks like your screen is permanently damaged or technically is permanently damaged depending on how you look at it. The normal round of rocks, keys and knives didn’t leave a mark. The only thing that would scratch the product was sandpaper which was expected.
Now you might be wondering how tough this extra layer of glass which is a test I did on a different brand of liquid screen protector. Check out the detailed video for all the details.
So where does a liquid screen protector fit with my smartphone setup? Sure it doesn’t seem to add much in terms of scratch and oleophobic protection but it does add a bit of impact protection. So I would put it on my screen as well as my screen protector. The sensitivity of the device isn’t going to be impacted by the product. With that setup, you’re going to have above average protection for your smartphone.
One of the benefits of the liquid screen protectors is that after you use on one device, you can use it on another. I was able to get four uses out of a liquid screen protector with the last application being used in the impact protection I was talking about earlier.

nice video.... just wondering, will it repair the crack on screen ? I assume not but will it fill in and smoothen the crack on screen ? I've crack on my screen and planning to apply tempered glass protector, however, thinking should i apply liquid glass first to smooth the surface and avoid appearance of crack... also to avoid bubbles

What I really wish to see, is a thorough test on different main brand screen cleaners, to see how they will effect the oleophobic coating. Especially Whoosh, iKlear, etc. Thanks for all your previous work anyway. GJ!

Can I ask you for an advice please, what would you suggest me for the best screen protector , I am using the OnePlus 7t. With tough armour case heavy duty Spigen. But the case broke my screen protector. I really did not like that. Which screen best screen protector would fit best do you think? Thank you and hopefully you could help. WAIT..WAIT... you didn't elaborate on whether the fingerprints are oily!?!!? I'm thinking about buying spigen screen protector because the default one on p20 pro is so dang.. fingerprint oil smear magnet /sigh. is panzerglass better?
Great video! Monty’s awesome 😄. A bit confused though: You said, “...doesn’t seem to add much in terms of scratch and oleophobic protection....”. You rubbed it with a ROCK, KEYS, and a KNIFE and nothing happened - isn’t that kind of AWESOME protection?! (I just purchased a Spigen ‘Rugged Armor’ case for my Moto g6 and noticed this product on the way out...)

Would you use it on the camera glass?
Would the protection increase if repeated application. For example, could I put a layer on then let it cure and repeat. Possibly fill in more gaps and better water repellent? I have two of the same smart watch and only film screen protectors are available for it and fall off in a month.
Possibly. But there is such a thing as diminishing returns. Then it's possible to over due it and it may make your phone "cloudy".
Get Dglass. Three layers is enough.
Can you use this on a glass table?

Hey Aaron I always wonders about applying car wax on the phone screen. I figure it would offer some type of protection wouldn’t it? Maybe better then the “liquid screen protectors”?
I may be wrong but doesnt wax actually strip away a layers of whatever your waxing? if so then it would be harmful to displays.
Ted Okoroji as far as i know it add a protective layer to your cars paint. I don’t think it would remove anything. My cars finish is always smooth after and water repels off
abraham garcia your right, I got confused between wax and wash. Washes can strip away Paint and wax adds layer. So wax could protect a display lol.

no. once there is a scratch or chip you can only replace the screen. I got this and in 2 weeks had scratches and a chip. my brand new iPhone 11 was ruined. I was not told when I bought this that it became part of the glass and can't be removed. I am livid. and I have scratches all over my phone. Just regular use. keep it in my pocket or purse.
What ever happened to hybrid screen protectors? They didn't have the smoothness longevity of glass protectors but goddamn they were extremely tough and a hammer to the screen really didn't crack them

I wanna get one and just put it over the plastic or metal body of a phone. or just my palstic matte Display or my nintedo's plastic screen and see what happens. if it's actually doing anything my plastic switch screen would feel and look like glass after! but I'm sure these are a scam!

You seem to endorse the liquid screen protector and then end up calling it snake oil. So uh, not sure if you know what that means or if you actually think it's not a good product.
