@Sappho123 oh yeah, I have a few v3s but that's an awful comparison IMHO. The v3s came out years ago and the v3 pro and OG have both been released since.

I love my old Arlo 2 system, has worked for me 7 years solid across 5 cameras full features without any subscriptions at all, YES FREE. The best reviews are the ones that explain how something lasted and worked for many years. I'm looking into Wyze as it does seem like a more advanced Arlo system and has the microSD, but it seems to have strings attached if you want full features. When testing movement it might be an idea to move fast, we noticed all the thieves around our place moved fast to avoid being seen clearly. Thats a true test.

You can’t beat the price of the Wyze Cam v4 at around $30, and it’s surprisingly good for the cost. With 2.5k video, color night vision, motion detection, and two-way audio, it offers great performance at an unbeatable value. Perfect for anyone looking for an affordable, reliable security camera.
@mainel7568 yes. It saves video to the SD card even if you don't have a subscription. It can record video 24/7 and then rewrite when it's full. It's a continuous loop. Bigger the card, the more hours you get.
I noticed with a couple cameras[wyze, Yi] that were outside getting direct sunlight the plastic was getting kind of a dullness to it like car headlights I'm thinking about coating them with those UV wipes that they use for plastic headlight covers it's just a wipe on wipe off
I watch you on the news every morning. Discovered this video. I have 6 Wyze cameras and a lot of their other products for years. I'm moving to another manufacturer (Eufy). Wyze's V3 cam couldn't hold a Wifi connection that V2 had no trouble with. I hate subscriptions even with a grandfathered deal from Wyze. I've already ordered 2 other cameras and I've had to return them! This has been no joke. OK, I have a few questions and I've checked out the Wyze website and only one of my questions were answered. So, please can you let me know if: The alarm and siren can be switched off permanently? Do the lights become visible at night time especially, to a passer by? Thank you again and I await your response 😊
Hi!! Glad you enjoyed the review. Yes, the alarm can be turned off entirely. Both the spotlight and any other indication lights can be turned off completely. Hope that helps!!
Okay, got the V4 installed and working, my first dip into the abyss of security cameras. The camera works fine, considering its modest cost. The software confuses, compounded by complete lack of comprehensive "how to use after installation" guidance. The forum offers nothing more than hundreds of rabbit holes, with an incredibly weak search function.
I just bought the Wyze Cam V-4 and I had it all set up that being said when it comes to installing an indoor camera to face the outside. I want my camera to be indoors facing the outside so I can see people coming in and out and my cars and etc., but when I put it on the window, how many inches does it have to be away from the window looking out I had it on my window, but I don’t have it set right so I can get the whole angle and I don’t know how many feet away from the window. That’s where I wanna put it at the window, but I don’t want it to kiss the window. How can I install it on a window facing outside. And do I have to buy the package because I bought SD card thinking it would be fine. I really like your video compare some of the other videos I seen, but I want to use it for outside indoors if you get what I mean, please help mewith the video how you install this camera on a window to face outside I don’t want it facing inside my house? I wanna face outside inside my window. Thank you.
Well, I haven't tried to stitch directly from card. I mostly pull them from the app. Basically you cue it up to what you want to save and hit record as it plays. Not ideal but had worked for me.
So I had nest before. Now I just purchased my first wyze camera the V4, I just installed a 128gig card in it, formatted it, clicked on continuous recording and went through the settings a couple times. But In my ‘recents’ all I see are still frames, no videos. It says I need ‘cam plus’ to record videos. Does this new model not record videos without the cam plus subscription? First WYZE cam I’ve purchased.
It still shows the still then you need to hit the Sd Card button (underneath the pic on the left) and it should jump right to that spot on your SD card.

Yes, you can use a microSD card to record video directly from the camera. It can record only when it detects motion or record continually and save video until it's full. At that point it starts erasing the oldest clips. Larger memory card the better.
Nice camera, but for 6 dollars more you can get: WYZE Cam Pan v3 Indoor/Outdoor IP65-Rated 1080p Pan/Tilt/Zoom Wi-Fi with Motion Tracking for Baby & Pet, Color Night Vision, 2-Way Audio, Works with Alexa & Google Assistant. Do you think the V3 I mentioned is the better deal? I have one and I love it, but I just bought the one to check it out.

Absolutely. You can choose 24/7 recorded to the card or only record on motion detection. Of course the size of the card will decide how long it records before it loops back and starts erasing older recordings

But once again Wyze is releasing new product without fixing the previous ones or the software. I've seem this camera compared to the V3 and I felt the V3 picture quality was much better, at least for outside views.
Yes, I agree, central server storage would be more secure. But we're talking about a $30 camera here. If you want local separate storage you should probably be shopping for a more expensive system. Also, cloud storage is always an option if you're ok paying the fee.
Such broad general statements. You think the picture quality is better on the v3 ? Is dial up internet better then cable ? You seem to know so much about all of this stuff, you should start your own company.
@@johnevery9617 Only know what my eyes see. I've known a lot of products that had better specs but it didn't show. If you think the V4 has a better pictures quality, great to buy it. I don't, so I won't buy it. Plus, Wyze does these small improvements so their customers are fooled into buying all new cameras. When they sell a 4K camera with zoom and they get their software actually working as advertised, then I'll replace my V3 cameras.
My V4 camera has fuzzed out after about 9 months. Research shows that rheye are not really outdoor cameras as agree leak in behind the lens and then rhe pictures quality goes to crap. Ditto on the OG cameras. Has a Sense hub, a d the USB jack broke loose. Also have 2 outdoor dual plug switches, one on them is dead. Wze has cool products and good prices.... But the quality control is a sad Joke. Why should.i waste.more money?
Bummer, sorry to hear that. I've had mine for a while and had a great experience so far. I use many of them outside for years with no major issues. I also don't expect them to last forever at this price, TBH. High-end commercial grade outdoor security cameras cost $100+ easily.
Wyze was great when it first came out, but now it forces you to pay for monitoring, without which you get essentially no useful functionality. It's the very definition of crippleware. Better stuff out, for the same price. And DO NOT upgrade your firmware or your app if you have a working system. They "wrecked it".
I don't disagree. I loved when the cloud stuff was included. Although they didn't offer a free way to obtain it for legacy users, which j appreciated. The unfortunate changes even companies are trying to make $. 😢
@katbeed the concept is that once it's working, a future firmware update can't mess things up. I don't agree with this. Firmware often fixes security holes, etc. some think Wyze has taken away features and stuff, which is partially true, but all software based products are evolving creatures for better or worse.
This camera is total rubbish. Wyze need to review the software for this v4 .The SD card playback crashes after 10gb storage. No person detection. Go with the cam v3 pro or lorex or blink with free cloud storage.

@@TechItBeforeYouWreckItthe Original poster is just a Karen looking for something to complain about.
@@johnevery9617 Okay princess, clearly you haven't been in the Wyze eco system long enough to know their issues.
first time i heard of this cam
#1 BAM 💥
Your security cameras
Wyze was great when it first came out, but now it forces you to pay for monitoring, without which you get essentially no useful functionality. It's the very definition of crippleware. Better stuff out, for the same price. And DO NOT upgrade your firmware or your app if you have a working system.
They "wrecked it".
I don't disagree. I loved when the cloud stuff was included. Although they didn't offer a free way to obtain it for legacy users, which j appreciated. The unfortunate changes even companies are trying to make $. 😢
Why DO NOT upgrade firmware?
@katbeed the concept is that once it's working, a future firmware update can't mess things up. I don't agree with this. Firmware often fixes security holes, etc. some think Wyze has taken away features and stuff, which is partially true, but all software based products are evolving creatures for better or worse.
This camera is total rubbish. Wyze need to review the software for this v4 .The SD card playback crashes after 10gb storage. No person detection. Go with the cam v3 pro or lorex or blink with free cloud storage.

Too much yakety yak before going into the actual showing of video.

With all due respect ... if you're going to give us cuticle closeups, get a manicure before show time.
4k is not kind to cuticles 😳 💅🏻
