Alas, an original list of horror movies that were based on real events. Most lists regarding this topic used the same movies like Child's Play, The Exorcist, Nightmare in Elm Street, etc. I'm glad that you made your own orginal list. Its enjoyable to watch something that's not repititive
@@BlackAbbath0 The word "alas" means "unfortunately". It's an older term expressing dismay or disappointment. So in this context, since the original comment seemed happy about the list, that word doesn't fit. I figured they probably meant "at last" as in "finally", since that made more sense in context.
I am so numb to horror movies that none of these remotely frightened me. The Girl Next Door was definitely not made to frighten, but if it didn’t make you sick to your stomach than I think maybe you are truly the monster
That movie dragges tears to my eyes literally throughout the movie. It was sick and i will agree it wasn't meant to scare. But that movie was very gut turning.
Re: The Girl Next Door: a young Ellen Page was in a movie also based on Sylvia Likens' abuse and murder, An American Crime, with Page as the main character. Not a horror film but a heartwrenching drama instead. It's really good, although the torture borders on gratuitous (though in comparison to the actual events, it is hardly anything). Worth a watch if you can stomach it. I was in tears by the end, and I don't think I could watch it again...such a horrible, tragic case :(
In "The Town That Dreaded Sundown", is anyone else old enough to recognise the actress playing "Mrs. Reed" was Dawn Wells who played "MaryAnn on Gilligan's Island? Also, did you know that the atmosphere and setting of "Silent Hill" was inspired by the town Centrailia Pennsylvania?
It's a great film and even the remake-with-a-twist is good. ( I'm referring to "....Sundown.") I like "Silent Hill" and there's a good docu on UA-cam about Centralia.
When I see ,, based on a true story , it means exactly that, but that doesn’t mean that things went down exactly like that , after all Hollywood likes to exaggerate things.
I can't condone the graphic nature of 'The Girl Next Door' as entertainment in any way. Honestly...the movie is horrible enough as a work of fiction. It's sickening to think that 1) it was based on a true story, and 2) that the events in the movie were intensified for 'dramatic effect.' I think it borders on sadistic perversion.
@@Comfortdoll I couldn't watch the movie An American crime ,the story was too creepy , especially when it was about young people and true, and the circumstances surrounding it.. Maybe someday I'll finish watching it.
I think that it did its job depicting the horror of what Sylvia went through, even if some details were changed. I'm also sure that many people first heard about the case because of that movie, and bringing awareness to cases like that is something I feel is important. Considering that, I believe 'The Girl Next Door' is doing more good than harm, and deserves to exist.
I lived in that town and in fouke arkansas. U can still visit those sights. Texarkana is cool but some of the people suck. Low lifes from Katrina moved there and never left
The couple that disapeard in the sea most likely drowned and their bodies were then eaten by fish and sharks. Sharks dont hunt humans. The sharks most common to do this is bull sharks. But its very rare that reports of humans actually getting eaten by sharks happen
I like your channel and your content but you could really benefit from a better microphone. Just some positive criticism in your direction bro. Much respect.

I feel like these are mostly in poor taste with regards to the suffering of the people these films are based on. The murder of Sylvia Likens is also one of very few things that I've read about and just regret ever knowing about it. It's so awful.
but ehrm.....just fyi although Adolfo Constanzo and his "cult" were called the narcosatanists, he wasn't a satanist at all - he was a practitioner of palo mayombe and ineed a violent cartel's drug trafficker
Number 3 was not an African Vodou ritual. It was a dark ritual of cartel affiliated Santa Muerte devotees who bastardized the practice. Please correct this.
Basically irl it was a syncretic twist of Palo Mayombe, which is African in origin, Congolese in particular. So it is "African", though not vodou, which originally comes from West Africa. In any case, Costanzo was mixing and matching with santeria, Santa Muerte worship and copious amounts of drugs, so it cannot be classed as any recognizable practice.
Omg. I MUST own that "girl next door" movie!!! I went straight to Amazon to add it to my Wish List!! I already own "borderland or borderlands" one. GREAT MOVIE!!
The ill-fated, tragic VICTIM Mark Kilroy & his college mates did NOT go to Mexico for spring break, "because of Mexico's lax law enforcement," they probably went for the same reason MILLIONS of other American college kids go there, as well: it's a lot LESS expensive to drink AND, mainly, the drinking age is LOWER, that's WHY!
FYI, #1 still exists today in Texas; they are called 'sundown towns'. All the blacks were forced to move, all employees and law enforcement are Caucasian. Upon entering the town there's a warning sign that states, 'no blacks after dark'. Violence has been known to enforce this white man's law. #4 the two sisters did exist. Only one was abused. Both parents and a sister were still alive. The woman was not an aunt - but a stranger. The older sister lived close by, and was aware of the situation; but refused to help. They were not orphans, as indicated in the film. I guess it just sounds better.
anderi bailey you better think again! That movie is based on a real story that did take place down in that area back in 1946. Theres at least two documentaries that talk about the actual case. The movie is based on certain incidents that took place within this case. It was an actual case that did happen, that is 100% for sure!
Yeah it is a true story i live in shreveport and texarkana is apart of the arklatex (louisiana texas and arkansas). It probably less than an hour away difinetly a true story

Unbelievable: to be left in the sea like that (#2)!! I can't imagine what that couple went though. God bring them rest.

I didn’t feel anything but shocked to what happened to her god that was horrible
Me too. I don't even jump anymore.
you mean the 2004 romantic comedy featuring Elisha Cuthbert? I mean that movie sucked but it didn't make me sick to my stomach....
Thanks for the valentines upload deburke 👍 I have recently gotten more into movies and I'm glad some of the ones I saw are on here.

There's another movie about the case called "An American Crime" (2007) I think.

Mary Anne didn't die in Texas, she set sail one day for a 3 hour tour. A 3 hour tour.
I wondered if anyone else caught that, lol.

I really want to see Veronica...I have heard good reviews about it. Great video....once again! 👍
It's on Netflix
Wouldn’t get too excited over it 🙄🙄🙄...

Kerry Ann it is a very good movie very suspenseful
It really isn’t that good of a film
Texarkana....Town on the border of Texas and Arkansas. On both sides of the border...Hence the name
Great video mate, because of this I subscribed to your channel.

Dayum the real horror story here is that you didn't link your IG
Dawn Wells starred as Helen Reed in The Town That Dreaded Sundown!
I lived in that town and in fouke arkansas. U can still visit those sights. Texarkana is cool but some of the people suck. Low lifes from Katrina moved there and never left
@@bewareofdog8301 A lot of people came to Houston from New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina, and raised the already high crime rates.

I'm only here to say that the thumbnail is going to haunt my nightmares. That fucking mouth, man.

No
Nope I have too

It's pronounced TexarCANa

Veronica is a great movie but it should be noted that the true story was completely fabricated.
