  • Here is my stance on vegetables…
    I spread this message because this approach helped me cure my autoimmune skin issues and has helped so many of my clients with their own…
    In my clinical experience, I have seen thousands of people overcome gut and skin conditions when they removed vegetables from their diets…
    I believe that real human experiences are so valuable and CANNOT be dismissed…
    This isn’t to downplay the importance of science and controlled trials, but we must value real humans improving health conditions they have struggled with their entire lives…
    I believe it’s also important to highlight that there are mechanisms in plants shown in research to potentially have an effect on thyroid and gut health…
    And when we see some humans remove these and improve conditions related to the thyroid or gut, this is something we must consider…
    I make this content for people who may be struggling with unresolved health issues and can’t find an answer…
    If you are thriving, there is nothing you need to change about your diet, but you must be brutally honest with yourself…
    My biggest hope is that my content can offer you a different perspective and push you to do your own research…
    Question everything and never stop learning…
    Do not blindly trust me. Or anyone else online. Do your own research, experiment with different foods, and listen to your body…
    If vegetables are not a problem for you, by all means, keep eating them…
    I hope that the work I do helps you think about using food as a lever to heal. This is what I stand for. Food is the most powerful tool to change your life and change your health…
    This is what has worked well for me:
    Meat / organs / fruit / honey / raw dairy. This is an ANIMAL-BASED diet, and I believe this is the most optimal diet for humans on the planet...

      So? That is not sufficient evidence to support eating broccoli. Maybe they would have lived a year or two longer eating more high quality meat. Though I'm 80% sure you made up the whole story.
      "Worldwide, bivariate correlation analyses revealed that meat intake is positively correlated with life expectancies. This relationship remained significant when influences of caloric intake, urbanization, obesity, education and carbohydrate crops were statistically controlled. Stepwise linear regression selected meat intake, not carbohydrate crops, as one of the significant predictors of life expectancy. In contrast, carbohydrate crops showed weak and negative correlation with life expectancy."

      Because he doesent make that clear in most instances which makes people fear which he specifically bennifts on when there's very little evidence supporting a carnivore diet to be generally the best diet for humans. He has been back peddling his stance because there's a huge body of research discrediting his broad claims. It looks disingenuous and pushes people towards the pure carnivore route which is definently not good for human health.

    “If you thrive, keep doing what you’re doing.” I disagree. Sometimes you don’t know what is happening to your body, and you feel good-you may THINK you are thriving-for a time. But what about the slow and sneaky attacks, like the accumulation of oxalates in tissues? Then, when your system can’t take it anymore, it hits you like a ton of bricks. Look at Tim Noakes, who felt so good about his performance that he wrote books about the necessity of carb gorging-then, he had to do a 180.

      Works BOTH ways. Some "think" they are thriving on high fat carnivore but when they go lower fat and add in some items, they actually do better at performance, sleep, sex drive,.... For many, they seem to do best on a periodization of the diet. Cycling through different phases. No one size fits all. Many nuances.

      You have some valid points, but it can be a slippery slope if someone tries to hyperoptimize everything in their diet in the hopes of this subjective "thriving" concept. It can be a precursor to very serious eating disorders. The main thing is to weigh the known pros and cons and look at net effect. It's best to stay away from extremes unless there are no options.

      No one has to give up anything unless they were looking for the optimal food and eat only that. Vegetables are non-essential (indisputably), Carbs are also non-essential for humans, also indisputably. When you eat a fatty steak, your body will absorb all of it, no waste, and the nutrition in it would be 100% bioavailable to you and you'd need nothing else at all, not a single thing that you'd be missing nutrition wise (As long as you don't shove carbs in your body, because then you'd need a lot of vitamin C to help shove the vitamins into your cells because of the Randle cycle that is caused by mixing fat and carbs in your diet) . Now if you'd like to add something with that food, like vegetables, to slow down, or block the absorption of the nutrients you got from the meat, then do that. Also they'd give you the gift of unnecessary fiber (That can actually cause harm to your digestive system) and some oxalates, phytotoxins and lectins. Doesn't sound like a good idea to me.
      Listen to professor Bart Kay if you needed an actual scientist to tell you really what's what. Paul is all over the place now and he actually can't distinguish between epidemiological research and actual-causational-reputable research.
      Oh and try to learn about oxalates and their accumulative damage over the years. I, for example, almost lost my joints, knees and gums because of the damn Spinach my mother convinced me to eat while watching popeye the sailor man. I cut the spinach and in less than two weeks the bleeding in my gums when I floss stopped I healed my inflammation.
      I can talk forever about all the non-sense we were taught. Do your own research, in the right places (good luck with that), That's why I suggested Bart Kay (He even reacted to a few of paul Saladino's videos) and watch after your own ass.

    Yes, regarding people must continue to try new things. Not necessarily broccoli but adding and taking away foods to find improvements. I have several elderly patients, no teeth. They struggle to get enough protein. We added pure protein powder and raw milk to their diet. Now sleep, activity levels, cognitive function have all improved. Have also seen younger to middle age folks add eggs and seafood into their lion diet (very restricting) with great improvement. Women who have lost their menstrual cycle from being extremely low 6% to 10% body fat, we add in eggs, raw milk, salmon roe, salmon,....and other items. Now adding weight, getting their fat content for the day and feeling great. Don't fear change or trying new things. 👍

    In general, it’s probably best not to eat a lot of raw vegetables for the reasons pointed out, but properly cooked and some sometimes raw, probably does more good for most, than non ever at all. With regards to broccoli, don’t eat it much, but I do like homemade cream of broccoli soup, cheese and broccoli soup, baked potato with steamed broccoli melted cheddar cheese and a T-Bone steak, beef steamed broccoli teriyaki stir fry, and sometimes steamed broccoli drenched in butter and salt by itself. Not sure how much vitamin C is left after cooking, but that could be a benefit, particularly for those not eating a lot of rich sources of vitamin C, getting small amounts from a variety may be helpful. Also, broccoli has folate which is important. Actually recently heard and looking into, to much sun ☀️ damages folate, and folate is needed to make and repair DNA 🧬 still researching, but sounded pretty accurate, so doing a deeper dive, because I get a lot of sun. So maybe some of these green vegetables can be beneficial in a number of ways. Also, with regards to oxalates oxalic acid, sounds like some fruits have a decent amount too, like orange juice, berries, so since I eat a good amount of OJ and fruit, looked into oxalates a bit, and apparently it’s a metal chelator, it’s used in industrial processes, like taking rust off of limestone statues or something to this nature as an example of how it’s used, so what is the likelihood, our bodies use oxalic acid oxalates to chelate harmful metals out of the body? Maybe it takes some of the good metals too, but maybe it’s a one step back two step forward process, because it’s important to get the bad metals out, and this is the natural way of doing it, and the body knows, there is no way to total avoid these harmful substances, so it has a natural way of dealing with them. And, if oxalates are metal chelators, do they chelate the minerals in say a potato, and if so, how did people derive nutrients from them when they used them for survival over the centuries? How do other animals pull nutrients out of them or other plants with oxalates, because that chelate thing is an ion bonding attraction, and should be universal, whatever the material. So to me there are a lot of common sense questions out there. I don’t really go off studies, but interesting to hear. But in general, I don’t think vegetables should be the dominant part of my diet and they are not, but I do see them having some small benefits if done right, even if it’s just making foods/ a meal taste better and lowering stress hormones because my belly is happy.

      Too act like that's universal for plant based diets is dumb. It's really easy to get Vitamin D, iron and b12 on a plant based diet through fortified foods, supplementation or proper plant sources. Testosterone in vegans is not clinically shown to be significantly lower at all and in most cases is higher than animal based diets. There's a reason why reversing biomarker ages in a lab setting almost universly resort to a plant based diet.

    Hey Paul. Love the content I've been carnivore for 6 months now and been seeing great improvements in my skin and energy. Something I'd love to see from you is this. A ranking of foods that you feel are ok to comprise on every now and then. It's not always possible (especially as a young person working full time) to get my hands on grass fed red meat and keffir etc. sometimes comprises have to be made due to time and or budget. It would be great to see a list of foods you recommend eating when you CANT be going full carnivore.
    Cheers from down under.

    The only vegetable you should eat if you really want to eat one is the potato. Has a very high nutritional profile. Everything that greens have and a lot that they don't. Very easy to grow your own. I planted red and white in my backyard two years ago and they grow back every year on their own. Most of the time I don't even eat vegetables but when I do it's almost always the potato up first. Sweet and white are ok

    I love your approach to health and nutrition, as well as your mindset. The way I see it, people from certain geographical regions process certain foods differently, and this process is linked to a preset blueprint between our relationship with nature (where we used to get our food) and our ancestors (who passed their genes). And my issue with "this hard western science" is that it doesn't address this crucial factor. And we look like dummies because we looking for "evidence" that's right within! It's hilarious to me when I read these journals.

    I love RAW broccoli! Under Dr. Goldner's protocol, iodine intake is recommended in a separate session whilst having an otherwise abundance of cruciferous vegetables, and a lot of people have reversed their Hashimoto's this way. Repeatability is key when it comes to interpreting data, and we can't distort results. Her protocol has worked for every person who has followed it to the core. Paul changed his mind about fruit, and I'm just waiting for the day he changes his mind about vegetables too!

    • @daviddudley1791
      @daviddudley1791 2 місяці тому

      That protocol doesn’t work for everyone. Consuming blender size green smoothies tore up my gut and had me in so much pain. If someone has bad gut issues, fruit is more easier and gentler as opposed to raw vegetables. I think if one is to consume veggies it’s best to either cook or juice them to avoid exacerbating a damaged gut.

    • @ilhamazad
      @ilhamazad 2 місяці тому

      @@daviddudley1791I'm sorry you had an unpleasant experience with raw broccoli. Indeed, fruit tends to be easier on the digestive system. As for broccoli and cauliflower, here's a neat trick: freeze them for more than a day, then wash them after thawing. This makes them softer and more flavorful than the cooked version. However, feel free to give it a try if it sounds appealing to you!

    I'd like to add that oxalate may be an exception to the rule that everything is OK if you're thriving. Unlike other plant defense chemicals, it accumulates in the body, and you risk hitting a wall at some point. And then you have a load of accumulated oxalate that may take a long time to get rid of. That's the good thing, relatively speaking, about broccoli and the other brassicas: they're low oxalate.

    • @gardenguster5271
      @gardenguster5271 3 місяці тому +1

      The absorption of oxolates is incredibly low that it's unlikely to have any clinical significance, especially paired with complex chemical networks in plants. This is shown in the literature as well.

    • @vimbrain
      @vimbrain 3 місяці тому

      The absorption is typically somewhere around 10% if I remember correctly. (2-20% according to this study pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/15153567/) Do you consider that incredibly low, or do you have a different figure? And if it really is unlikely to have any clinical signficance, how do you explain oxalate kidney stones?
