This video is on how to remove a crf-r style carburetor this applies to crf250r 2004-2007 and a similar procedure applies from 2008-2009 this does not apply on 2010 and newer EFI models
Any questions will be answered as soon as I can and any feedback (opinions ) would be appreciated. Thanks

I spent a whole day it seemed putting my carb back in my 05` crf250r. It really makes you miss your old 250 2 strokes, when all they had was two boots and a throttle cable, as far as I remember you didn`t have to remove the gas tank, sub frame, seat, shock, etc, etc. I went to remove my carb and found the top bolt threads missing=jb weld. Parts in the bowl green, and a jet clogged. No wonder the thing wouldn`t start. Now it starts on the first kick, yipee !

troy yerbury I just got the engine back in my bike and recommend taking off the top end before you take too much of your bike apart trying to get the whole engine out

To be fair, as a first timer this video was on point. It might not be the quickest method but it breaks down many issues I struggled with. stupid little issues that will become second nature in time but this video certainly helps a bloke understand his bike more when starting out on maintenance. The throttle cable was being a proper cunt and after two cups of tea and avoiding the shock i've decided to do it this way. I had heard Honda CR carbs are tight for room. still, I learnt a lot from doing it the slow way and pulling it apart...on a separate note she has sand everywhere so this allows me to deep clean before I put her back on the Ice. The first time always makes me feel like I'm going to break everything and loose parts, anyway, time for another cuppa.

Remove the air filter cage...after the full sub frame has been aligned and tight....use a wooden hammer handle to bump the boot back onto the carb. Also found leaving carb loose at the all clamps until all boots are mated.

All of the hoses coming off the carb, do any of them need to be capped off? They’re just breather hoses, vacuum hoses, and overflow right? They just point downwards and stay open correct?

what size jets did you put on? I just ordered a jd jet kit and will be jetting it since it was at a 4000' altitude and is now at sea level

I would clean the carb/lines. Put new gas if it is old. Then go get your valves adjust. I'm 1 year late I see lol

you can take the carb off without taking the gas tank or subframe or seat off 😂😂 idek why u did that I have the same bike and I've never needed to take all that off

It's a very tight squeeze though. On my 09 250crf there was probably a couple milimeter of leeway to get it out at most. Good luck getting the carb back on the intake and airbox that way. Possible? probably, with an hour of cursing.
