OMG!!!!! My very dearest friends just gifted me with this exact twin car! And then I find you here on UA-cam. You are doing exactly what I intend to do, except I live in Oregon and only want to go to the desert for the winter. I have a million questions and want to watch this video every single day. Thank you for listening in on my dreams. This is truly special. LoveLOVE

Janis Lynne Well good luck with your dream. I’ll give you one good hint. I did this after I made this video. Go to Lowe’s and the insulation section. Buy a roll of the reflective bubble wrap. Get the 4’ wide one. Cost you about $45. I bought the 16” wide one and then tried to piece it together. What I mistake! Cut prices to stick in all the windows. Cut them a little oversized and they stay in just fine. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! You’ll stay warm as toast even when it drops down pretty low. The car has too much glass other wise.

I still have one. and refuse to sell or give it away. I call it my lucky car. If Chevy were smart, they'll bring the Geo back with power steering of course. Love your comment at the end.

WOW you stole it. Their getting hard to find now. I don’t think it’s because there’s not many around, I blame it on the people that have them, aren’t selling them! A good one, isn’t cheap when they do pop up.

Well I’m glad it gave you some ideas. It’s been 5-6 years since I did mine, and this has been the handiest thing I’ve ever owned. Since it’s just me, I never put the front seat back in, even though I can in about 5 minutes. I’d really plan on putting the floor in using pieces like I did. Too many curves to try to do bigger pieces. I just used 1/4” like sign board bought at Home Depot. Good luck with your project.

@@dennisconrad6124 thanks!! This is too funny.. I was just now telling my niece about all of these car/camping modifications because someone in my aptartment complex just threw away a 40$ piece of pine board.

Great video!! I have a 98 metro like you just green. I am the second owner after my neighbor. I replaced the engine and transmission at 420,000+ miles in just four hours. Easy replace. Fun to drive. My only issue is my exhaust is too loud. I didn't put a cat back on and the muffler is about finished. Amazingly only found one rust spot. I want to delete the seats like you. Keep up the videos. I'm sure your car will last a long time.

Did you get 420,000 miles out of the original engine? Was it the 1.0L?

Well it doesn’t look as good now. I still have the car and on Oct 31 I left Maine for Mexico. I hit a deer about 100 miles from home, and the hood was smashed in, broke the one headlight out, and the deer swing around and smashed the passengers door in too. But I continued on with my trip and I’m currently 800 miles south of the Texas border in Oaxaca, Mexico for the winter.
The car has 236,000 miles and still runs like a champ. Cosmetically the car has a lot of dents etc, but it doesn’t have any rust to speak of, so my plan is to continue doing the mechanical stuff it needs and keep driving it no matter what it look like.

Bravo! Great video of your Geo. And I agree. I've got a purple Geo Metro 1996 88,000 + miles on her. Bought her new. She's done me well. People want to buy her. Nope. I'm keeping her.

Well said , I have a four door 94 Geo, 5 speed. I have not taken it on a long trip yet but in the city I get 44mpg. I've rebuilt the engine myself and found a "parts" Geo for the future. Does your A/C work?

I had a new AC put in it. Cost me $1400. But it never blew that cold. But since the AC didn’t work when I bought it, I didn’t have anything to compare it to. It helped, but I was in Arizona, and these cars have a lot of glass area, so it never got as cool as I wished it did. Frankly, I wish I’d kept my 1400.

@@dennisconrad6124 mine has the AC in it as well but it needs to be serviced, mine never blew that cold either. I'll just stay in cooler temp during summer if possible.

Since I made this video, I got thinking about the gas mileage. I think another reason I got so high out in Arizona was I was at about 6000’ in elevation, and it was summer. The air being so thin, the computer probably was trimming the fuel mixture back to match the thin air. I’m on my road trip now. I’m loaded down pretty heavy, and a lot of the driving I’m doing isn’t very conducive to good mileage. But I’m getting 44-45 MPG, over the 2000 miles so far.

They were great cars but they are getting old and rusting.. Maybe I should get one out of Arizona or something.. I put extra large tires.. But the lug nuts were too small so I had to use washers.
You might want to look into ultra capacitors for the start ing.
