This guy looks talented, he should be a 3D modeller
😂
I know right, so much wasted potential!

He certainly is!

I appreciate the fact that you broke this scene down, layer by layer. Building a workflow for large scale 3D environments is a challenge right now, but watching others show their process gives a load of inspiration. Thanks!
You just have the most perfect timing on this, I challenged myself this week to create something big now and I am currently in a art block state which slowed my progress. thank you so much for this
Glad it helped!
Martin has done a great job with this course. Thanks to him not only have I learnt a good bunch of effective techniques but also, and mostly, a solid and versatile workflow.
I highly recommend it even to advanced users who feel that their environments are lagging behind even a little bit.
Thanks Martin! Keep on doing!!
Thanks so much Fabrizio, so glad you liked the course!
I bought this when it came out but can't wait to start it again from the beginning. Especially to learn rendering scene layers!
I will like to see the compositing gradient stuff you spoke of..as standalone ,just wanna learn that one
This is great! I love overview videos like this.
I’ve been very exited for this course to drop, really enjoyed the cubic worlds course, and have been working all the odd jobs I could get my hands on to get the money for this one
Appreciate that.
~Egon
Personally I use ANT just for the base mesh, then use the Terrain Nodes addon by Valeri Barashkov for erosion/terrace effects. It's waaay faster and better than the built-in erosion from ANT, both when outputing a mesh and/or the maps (like displacement, flow map, sediment map and so on). But it's not super handy for creating base meshes, so ANT still has a use case
This is epic, thank you!!
This is really good. Thank you so much
Amazing!!! Thank you, Martin!!! Planning to buy it ;))
Cheers Brandon!
yeessss! You are golden Martin!
Amazing 👍
excellent, congratulations
superb
Awesome 💯🔥👍!
Gotta buy your course right now
Bought it right now it's a long time since I was so excited about smth lol
WOWWW I LITERALLY STARTED LEARNING ABOUT LANDSCAPES IN BLENDER A FEW DAYS AGO AND I NEEDED THIS VIDEO SOOO BADLY. PERFECT TIMING!!!!!!!!
Thank you good sir☺️
I love it !!!!!!
very good
I have, and love the course so far! One question tho: how do you achieve the animation specifically the parallax effect of the mountain as the camera pushes in making it look huge in the background??
Hi, mostly it is the very wide lens I use that makes everything in the distance look even more distant - and then the actual very large scale of the mountain.
When I hit the erosion button, it does not generate those heightmaps. How do I fix this?
Good afternoon! From which website did you download the photo Rock034_4kdisplacement. jpg. see 1.55
Downloaded the Trees and Bushes pack. Now How do I install them?
Thank you for posting this video. I did purchase it awhile ago.Glad to hear it has been update. Will their be a issue if I am running Blender 2.93? I haven’t have the time yet. I am taking care of a family member that has a brain injury. When I have a little time to myself, I will be starting this tutorial!
Blender 2.93 is quite fine :) Cheers!
how to find that presets tab?
Hi in my Blender Software it is Not Showing this option (Another Noise Tool) how to Active This option .
It is shipped with blender but you have to enable it in the preferences/addons. It should be in the Add Mesh section (you can type 'add mesh' into the search box and you should be able to find it)
Did you make a tutorial for build a track ?
Just a quick question ? When doing large scale environments do you make things to realise scale ? For example would those trees and mountains be scaled up to match real life proportions ?
I usually go with 1:4 scale, sometimes smaller, Blender likes to misbehave with real world sizes in my opinion (clipping, too large values etc)
recently watched the Hobbit again and Was like:"Oh, Tht's where I know this mountain from.." Very nice course Martin.
Cheers! :)
New subscriber 🙌❤️
Found a problem when it came to creating new vertex colors u just skipped right past that part around 2.57 so now im left with col in my vertex groups and no way to lighten or darken the landscape eroder spots it mapped out
As you can see at that point the video, I've added Color Ramp right behind the Vertex Color node and brought the two edge points together to add more contrast. You can even add more points in the middle, to play around with the mid values, achieving different contrasts of your map.
Interesting /// Thanks
Bro that looks just like the paramount intro
Aaaaweeesomeee!!!!!!!
I really loved this tutorial! May I ask how do you turn your plane into a circle?? It looks so easy and I couldn't find a simple way to do it!
Thanks a lot in advance!
Its just about adding SubD modifier to it by hitting Ctrl 2 :-) Thanks!
@@MartinKlekner Thank you so much, Martin! Btw love your content!
hello martin sir can you please tell how you got that lining effect of rock and snow on the mountain @3.20
i mean how you mixed snow and rock together such that you got such snow lining effect ?
Well, that is detailed in the course :)
@@MartinKlekner thanks for reply
Although I cannot afford yet thanks for all your help
Ambientcg is so useful
nice
How do you actually manage the scale of the scene? I see everything is actually very small. But what if we need more accuracy for an archviz project for example?
I have bad experience when making and rendering volumetrics for very large, world-accurate scenes. That's why I make my scenes a little bit smaller than in realworld. However, if you do archviz projects, then it is a must and I actually recommend asking someone specializing in this - for example Andrew Price (Blender Guru) is the go to person for this 🙂
How were you able to write the labels/tags in PureRef? I can't find the function anywhere.. Any help appreciated..
Hi, just Right Click and Note , or Ctrl + N
@@MartinKlekner Thank you for the help and also thank you for the video.
3:00 invaluable. So can i use them
Is separating into layers like that faster than using cryptomatte and saving as EXR?
Cryptomattes are a great option too, though I myself never tried it, Im used to the workflow I present :)
I have finished this course a few weeks ago, I highly recommend for those who want to choose environnement as specialization
Congrats on finishing the course, and thank you for the kind words!
hello martin sir, can you please tell me the settings which you used in the nishita sky here to get such orange eve look?
i tried so much to get the orange look of sky but i am not able to get that
please it is a very humble request to you to please help me sir please please
anyways thanksso much
really love your work very nice keep it up
Hello, I think I just lowered the sin altitude to about 9 and rotated it around until I liked the result :)
@@MartinKlekner whoa ! thanks so much so much so much thanks a lot sir
thanks so much
your reply is very valuable for me sir, really ist very valuable
i am very happy that i got a reply twice from such a hero person
thanks always
Have a good day sir ! greetings and best wishes from my side sir always
Hello, I used blender3.2 version to learn this course, but when I used the erosion function of ant landscape plug-in, an error occurred. Do you know the reason
Hi, there is a lot of problems in the latest versions of Blender with the Erosion and the bugs are not fixed yet. I suggest using Blender 2.92 for this particular step and then append your mountain to Blender 3.3
@@MartinKlekner ok, thank you for your answer
What camera lens did you use? 20mm or more like 40mm?
Actually the focal length was animated from 25 to 24.5 mm throughout the shot.
@@cgboost oh wow thank you! didn't expect a reply hahah
whats the pc specs.
I love ur work u made. Im a 12year old im wondering If I should put all The effort i can in my scenes because i want to be a 3d artist when i get older
You don't have to put all, but definitely put some effort in it. If you like the 3D work, the knowledge you will get will be useful.
~Egon
Is the add-on free you have mentioned in the video?
AFAIK, they are.
~Egon
darn, I thought this would be on Udemy. Like to have my courses in one cozy place. Anyways good job on the course. =]
One cozy place is called CG Boost Academy ;-)
~Egon
@@cgboost Fair enough. =]
Is it updated for geometry nodes yet?
Yes, there is a whole new chapter at the end of the course detailing most common uses of geonodes for environment creation (terrain displacement, asset distribution, masking etc) :-)
are there any current coupons for this course? I missed the 25% off one...
We're currently only offering a student discount. If this applies to you, simply contact us here: cgboost.com/support/
@@cgboost doese UNDEMY student count?
4:14 why dont you use blender ocean?
Sure you could :) I didnt want to go into detail on using Modifier (i teach that on a different chapter) so I used just this premade displacement.
I'm not able to handle large scale projects, any tips for optimising? My specs are 8 gigs of ram, Ryzen 5, rtx3050.
Hi, definitely consider adding more RAM. Also, try rendering in layers and then compositing the result together. I have a tutorial for it here: ua-cam.com/video/bIZrTXtyQkY/v-deo.html
Hey, I am a bit late but just a question. Is this a viable process for creating a game environment?
Not in this course, sorry, it is Blender-focused🙂
why not dot product in the vector math for the mountain texturing
I find the dot somewhat less reliable, though its definitely a solution too :) I use it elsewhere in the course
I'm curious how noticable it would be to use billboards instead of 3D trees
For the far background, this should work fine. In the course, Martin is actually showing how to use billboards for trees that are far away. ~Zach
can somebidy plz upload a complete project file? plz thank you
It is available in the course 🙂
Can you please tell sir, which hdri you used here ?
Hello, in this case, the basic Nishita sky texture built into Blender. In other chapters of the course, I use PolyHaven's Spruit Sunrise polyhaven.com/a/spruit_sunrise . I can also recommend OpenFootage.net www.openfootage.net/hdri-panorama/
Thanks so much for your valuable reply sir
@@MartinKlekner you are awesome sir, love from india, thanks a lot for sucha well explained breakdown video, finally thanks so much.

Yes, as a winner of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd place, you can pick one of our courses as prize.
I was looking for something to make and cause I watched rings of power lately I thought misty mountain ofc, found pic and started working lil bit and then found this video, where he finds motivation in same pic as me so yeeeaaah..
Hi is 16 gb ram enough? laptop
Hi, manageable, but better with 32 :)
Naice.
JESUS!!!
please answer me
is this course good for game modeling
Hi, no it is focused on offline rendering, but some tips might be useful for game models as well, but this is not the aim of the course.
@@cgboost thank you❤️
6:38 useful part
You don't need normal map. It's just instancing normal vector input when there is no texture.
If you only let me see the first 10 seconds of this and said that you used to work for Paramount, I'd believe you lol.
I really wish if the discount stays till end of this month :( because of payday :(
I can feel you bro
please add coastline and waterfall
The coastline is in water lesson :) Waterfalls, Ill try to learn how to make :D
@@MartinKlekner if it possible, I'd like to suggest your next course to be effect creation like this example ua-cam.com/video/V5U6teUhxqk/v-deo.html
I really Want to Buy Your Course But I Am Middle Class So I Have Talk To My Mom She Said I NEED SOME TIME TO THINK. I Hope She Let Me Buy This COURSE.
PC blast 😜
Paramount Pictures called they want their mountain back.
😂
Hi. Do you often get job offers through videos like this? How much can you earn per month?
I know how to make that.
🎶Far over the misty mountains cold 🎶
Damn too many courses out there i can get them all, im not even good at them to be able to get a job lol.
Start with the one and master it. Then pick up the next.
~Egon
yeah i am guilty for not giving A.N.T landscapes its due praise loool i dont why, i feel like ppl neglect it because ppl generally feel like landscapes are just one of those things that are cubersome and hard to make, so anything that makes that process as easy as a.n.t landscapes is just met with a ton of disbelief and disregard lool.
Dang. Wish I wasn't lazy.
Well.. don't be ;-)
~Egon
This course looks soooo good but I have no money:(
We do offer a student discount. If this applies to you, just contact us here: cgboost.com/support/
@@cgboost thats amazing, thank you!
Result is Awsome. But it's look hard, especially when you says in the course i did like this but students did that and i recommend you to do this, it's more friendly... Oh this f****** nodes🤦🏻♂️ i will never do that on my own ((
How did that info comes to you head guys...
Actually nodes are not that difficult to learn. Start with the simple setups and then combine them into more complex ones. Totally doable ;-)
~Egon
shit, i missed the early access price
Wat's next? Open world in blender, with lod?
This might seem a bit impossible but I've a Question. What if we make an actual earth with exact size.
Then we move a camera around the earth at the speed of light. What would we be able to see? Yeah wee meed a hiend Gpu
Looks cool but you need to lower the price.
Well, the making of the course takes a lot of time and effort, which means that someone has to make it and live at the same moment with all the expenses which life brings. Then you have the support at the academy and the community site, and again someone has to spend the time helping the students with the course. All that is reflected in the price.
~Egon
Do I detect a Swiss accent?
Haha, its a Czech accent, but maybe its close? :-)
@@MartinKlekner Alright, learned something today.
Early
The title of this content is confusing. You meant to say environments with large extents, which in turn means their scale is small (not large), even if the objects therein are relatively large.
Well, mountains with lakes are considered as large scale scene ;-)
Egon
How to draw owl:
1) Draw circle
2) Draw entire owl
3) Done
It's too costly I wish I can learn but not have enough money
😣😣😣
It is sad, but the production of the course cost money too. Plus there are people who are supporting the students and they have to dedicate their time to it too.
You can check for the discounts on the courses, but can't predict if and when the next will occur.
~Egon
UR FUCKING GOD!!!
any body remember this meme?
Dude, why did you skipped 1:56 part? Why? A tutorial doesn't need a skip it was important
How did your mountain goes from weird, into that? You didn't explain and skipped that important part
