That's kinda what hits hard for me. He knew deep down that Atreus was correct with that statement. It's no joke to say that Kratos and Atreus gained more than just friends in the 9 Realms. They made deeper connections that were as strong as blood. Sindri and Brok practically treated Atreus like a nephew in the first game, which is what makes the whole ordeal worse. He feels like he was betrayed by someone he really trusted, but Atreus IS still a kid to some extent. He has massive responsibility, far more than someone his age should, which adds to the bad decisions he makes. In what realistic world do we expect a teenager to make the same rational decisions an adult would?

People saying Sindri's arc is bad literally did not pay attention to anything.
This was not just him losing his brother. Sindri resurrected Brok without all of his soul parts which iirc means Brok can't get to an afterlife and can never find peace.
Sindri practically damned his brother to never knowing a peace or a true afterlife and he knows it. Plus there's also all the eons of shit Odin had probably put the Dwarves through. It's a lot more than just Brok dying in Sindri's arms, it's the culmination of countless things we the players won't see, only hear about and somethings we have directly caused.

Speaking of whom, Kratos most certainly appreciates Sindri, considering he knelt to Brok and they are parts of the whole that is the Huldra brothers. Unfortunately, his stoic nature means he rarely verbalises this, but again, seeing how Kratos and Sindri interact prior to Brok's death, it's clear that Sindri recognises Kratos's appreciation and had built up a good relationship with him. As Kratos said, he and Atreus were his family as well.

Sindri's ending is tragic but he's in a better, healthier place now than he was before. The Sindri at the start was essentially a person who lived in a bubble because he couldn't bare reality. His hypochondria is almost like the behavioural manifestation of someone who is allergic to the world as it is. Literally anything with a negative connotation from germs to emotional pain is something he shields himself from rather than face and overcome. He has now been forced to deal with it and its immediacy is shocking and extremely painful but he will eventually start living life in a proper balanced way i think.
This is true for many characters who've been living in a bubble, including kratos. The beauty of these two games is that it's atreus/loki who acts as a catalyst for change in all that have encountered him, which also fits the theme of what ragnarok actually is. In the original myth It's not only an event that destroys but also sets up rebirth. The process might be painful and involve death but all are the better for it. In this version of ragnarok spearheaded by loki, we see kratos brought out of his cynicism towards godhood, freya out of her toxic understanding of parenthood/family, thor/thrud/sif out of their delusion to what odin was actually about and finally sindri out of his sheltered existence.
Ragnarok is change, loki is the catalyst.

And in turn, even though Atreus and Kratos did care for him as a loyal friend and ally, Sindri had also been yelled at, unappreciated, belittled, overused, and even mauled by Bear Atreus and you can see him slowly but surly getting fed up with it all. He was over confident and reckless because he was the chosen one, the savior, the hero. He was a kid and he wanted the glory and saving the realms from the big bad super villian. He had direction and purpose. Before he didn't know what to do with his life and then lo' and behold theres a stone tablet saying "go to war" and he believed it 100% because the other tablet he saw basically was a road map of their entire journey in the first game.
Sindri repeatedly told Atreus to be careful, to be skeptical. Even Kratos said they shouldn't trust Tyr right away. Everyone told him not to wish for war. Everyone else understood the consequences of what he was trying to do and the consequences of what he wanted to do. He did not understand those consequences. He never understood what those consequences were.
Then he found out his dad was going to die and he ignored EVERYTHING to undo that. Again, ignoring that every choice he made came at a price. Again, he ignored the people around him telling him to be careful. He ignored it and believed he could just soldier through it because again, he was the chosen one, the hero, the champion.

You don't realize the timeline. Its been about 2 years since the first game and for 2 years she actively hunted and attacked Kratos. She was angry at Kratos and Atreus but never attacked Atreus and from the dialogue in the intro it would seem that during their altercation, Kratos would only defend himself and Atreus would avoid participating since the goal was to run and not to kill.
When they fight again and she is about to get attacked and mauled by bear transformed Atreus, he defends her and says "no, you do not want this, you do not want this, she was our friend" - This was after she talked with Atreus and realized that they never hated her and that they truly cared for her. That their enemy is not each other but Odin. Kratos during the whole time let her know that he never expects her forgiveness and even after helping her understands that if she wants to kill him he would not hate her for it but he would not die for it either.
So you are missing a lot of back story for Freya's arc before they went to Vanahiem. Again 2 years of being hunted and attacked by her. Just don't think about it because we weren't part of it.

Sindri made fast friends with them, but during Atreus' little bout of hubris, he said some nasty things to Sindri in particular. Yes those ultimately made him reunite with Brok, but that boy was brutal, calling his feud with Brok "little people's little problems."
Then Atreus and Kratos welcome themselves into Sindri's home. Atreus doesn't listen to him about going to see Freya and puts him in danger but he still believes in the kid and trusts his judgement. Then Atreus attacks him, his closest friend, when he goes to run. I don't know if he ever found out Atreus is the reason his home was attacked, but again, yeah. And then Brok is murdered by Odin when he successfully calls out Odin on his bullshit

Sindri wasn't a germaphobe. He explains in the game that the reason he stays clean and doesn't like to be touched is because when he saved Brok from Hel, the dead was crawling all over him, grabbing him. He says that he still feels them touching him to this day and that was the reason why he didn't like to be touched by anything.

I understand that Sindri is angry at Atreus for Odin killing his brother. But in the end, the fault is on Sindri himself and he knows it.
    - Sindri was the one who designed Mjölnir which killed the giants.
    - Sindri decided to make the Leviathan axe with Brok, which killed Brok the first time.
    - Sindri returned Brok with only 3/4 soul pieces and made it impossible for him to return to the afterlife.
    - Sindri was the one who helped Atreus on his journey.
    - Sindri openly welcomed everyone, INCLUDING Odin-in-disguise to his home.
If anything, Atreus and Sindri's friendship is ruined similar to how Kratos and Freya's was in the last game.

Overall its not that he made a mistake. Its that mjolnir, brok, kratos and Atreus, every time he tries to help someone, they take from him and it ends in more misery. cant help but understand him at this point for him to want to push everyone away and be alone forever.

I love that we’re all divided on how to feel about Sindri’s heel turn. Here’s my perspective: I agree with both sides. Yes, Kratos and Atreus did bring Odin to their home(inadvertently), start Ragnarok and the war, and inadvertently cause the death of Brok.
However, Sindri, Brok (up until his death), Kratos, Atreus, Freya, and Mimir we’re ALL fooled into thinking that was the real Tyr. Add on top of that that since Sindri didn’t get all of Broks soul, he can’t even reach the afterlife. I think Sindri is more angry with himself than everyone else but is projecting that anger towards others. The only people I think he wouldn’t blame that lived in the house would be Freya and maybe Mimir.
Plus with Atreus becoming a bear and attacking Sindri we can see that was the start of the fracture of the relationship between the two.

It might have helped, but its mostly his own rage at himself. As Mimir explains, due to Sindri's failure to bring back Brok completely, Brok essentially ceases to exist in any shape or form in any realm for the rest of eternity. Sindri knows he fucked that up, and has been trying to cover for that mistake all these years. Part of that is what caused the rift between the two in the first game. Sindri's only flaw is that he CANNOT let Brok go. He cares to much and too selfishly about him. Its his only example of being selfish.
He throws himself into helping everyone else with all he has, and look where that got him.
And the one time he tried to do something for himself, he payed a price beyond settlement.
Sindri's rage is at himself over Brok. But when he is at the lowest point, he lets some of that rage out to lash at the people who have done stuff to him that he would have otherwise just glossed over. Its why he is so openly vicious to Atreus. All the stuff he would have just repressed before is coming out because he just doesn't care about it anymore. When he is telling Atreus off at the forge, his voice is steady. Its only when he gets to talking about Brok, does his voice waver and break. It shows that all the other stuff is secondary to what Brok means to him. Even his anger towards Atreus.
In a world that has multiple afterlives, and resurrections, and otherways to see even people who have died. Knowing that you alone are responsible for why you will never see the only member of your family left again, I'd say that guilt is perfectly reasonable to change personalities. Odin may have killed Brok, but Sindri denied him everything after death.
