I see these titles and what they should really be are "The 5 best .380 ACP Handguns, that I own." There are MANY fantastic .380s.
I agree, Bereta 84 over passes many of this 5.
He did say the 5 best in his opinion....any video that claims to be the best of something is obviously an opinion and it shouldnt need to be stated in a title.
@@broot1375 How fortunate you can read an absolute statement like "Top 5 best 380 ACP Hanguns" and know it's not an absolute statement. I'll bet when you read "no warranty express or implied" you just know there has to be a warranty.
There is no absolute best 5 380 guns....that is the point. Anyone who doesnt already know that is an idiot....and we normal people dont need to read an idiot proof title to know that.
What ever Chad. Make a 📹
Nice to see someone give Bersa the credit it deserves. I had a Bersa Thunder .380 and it was a great gun-- grip, feel and weight were very comfortable and the steel frame and slide helped to reduce muzzle flip & recoil. The only negative was the capacity- 7+1 (not sure where how he gets 8+1; I couldn't load that extra round).
I now have the Bersa Combat Plus.380 edition, with a 15-rd capacity, and it is a great EDC pistol.
Just purchased a new bersa thunder 380 and it ships with an 8 round mag.
And the 8 rd mag is available aftermarket. I have a couple of 9 rd mags, but that pretty much defeats the purpose of carrying a piece like that in the first place.
bersa + was my 1st carry pistol. very safe until i felt comfortable upgrading.
Sig p238
Reliable. Nice trigger. Nice sights. Easy to rack. Fits nicely in the hand.
Eats anything fed to it.
One of the best
True
The S&W M&P Shield .380 is a great, reliable gun. Easy to conceal in a back pocket too.
Check the kimber and sig p238 want something smaller that still does not bark to bad and has great sights and trigger.. Yes EZ wonderful gun. also RIA 380 compares to it.
my Wife and I both have Bodyguards and hate the long trigger pull.
Thanks for this concise and straight forward review; I like that you include the price. I don't know why most of these guys want to give you their whole life story when they do their reviews. Good job.
I just picked up my Bersa .380 Thunder about a week ago and it's been nothing but a pleasure to carry. I highly recommend one for anyone! I have a few friends that also carry the same and they love it also :)
Just bought my daughter the Sig. what a fantastic weapon. Built to an amazing standard and a joy to fire!
I carry the Bersa 380 Plus. It isn’t too heavy, accurate, fairly easy to conceal, and I feel very safe knowing I have 15+1 if I need it!
How do you compare to the PPK ?
has it ever had any problems like how many times would u say it jammed or anything like that I wanna get my girl a .380 idk which one I should get though I was thinking a S&M 380 shield ez
The Hogue grip made specifically for the LCP helps it a lot. My favorite summer carry cause it's so light, small and reliable.
I got the Ruger LCP for $220 new, the Bersa for $250 used, Glock 42 for $400 new. The Bersa jammed a lot, so I sold it. The LCP is definitely not a range gun, it will put a hurting on your hand after awhile. The Glock 42 is by far my favorite. It's the easiest to shoot, and the recoil is soft. I carry it frequently in the summer. Good video my man!
my lcp2 was 240 at acadamy
Have ppl
You do a really great job at giving the rundown on these guns Chad. I really appreciate your service man. Thanks, thanks, thanks!
I'm glad you put the Bersa in your top 5. I am always surprised when people making these types of videos rarely if ever mention the Walther PPK. The Walther is a classic, very reliable and well made. It's been around for over 80 years and Smith & Wesson have maintained the high quality. I would've had that one on my list and changed it to Top 6.
I LOVE MY BERSA THUNDER PLUS! Safest gun by far for pocket carry, accurate, reliable, nice trigger, great sights ... and 16 rounds.
Now this is a great comparison vid. I wish you and the Mrs. many happy years!
I was stunned by my accuracy with the Bersa .380. I upgraded to the Plus model because it has a 15 round mag. Good video.
I owned a Bersa Thunder 380 for self-defense & CCW (the normal 7 round magazine version).
My thoughts on the gun:
- It was very reliable
- It was a budget gun for sure as the quality of the components & steel was lower
- Easy to conceal
- More difficult firearm to completely disassemble
- Had/has a very smooth/easy to pull trigger
*Note:* I heard the Bersa Thunder 380 plus had malfunction with their "hi-cap." magazine. Maybe they fixed them now.
THE TROUBLE WITH .380 ACP = is the price is *noticeably more* than 9mm for *noticeably less* power..
*DATA POINT:*
CCW Calibers used in America:
- 70% of the U.S. use 9mm
- 10% use .40 S&W
- 9% use 45 ACP
- 11% use "other" caliber
Notes:
- The 11% "other" calibers include the .22LR, .25, .32, *380 ACP,* .357 mag., .44 mag., 10mm, 5,7x28mm, etc.
- The Worlds usage of 9mm is probably even higher than above U.S. figures.
*Informed (opinion) conclusion:*
1. Mouse gun calibers are not recommended for self-defense.
2. Best caliber(s) to use for CCW is *the 9mm.* World police & World military agree with this
as most folks use the 9mm including US police & military.
Stay safe

@@therielab9564 If you're happy with your decision to use the Bersa Thunder with it's pluses and minuses then life is good.
God bless.
@@sweetcostarica i dont think there is a lot of folks who would like to get shot with 380..or any hot lead for that matter..even a 22 can kill..that being said i have 3 9mm guns..and just bought a glock 42 with r.i.p ammo..380 ammo is expensive..not sold on 380 but we will see once i take it to the range..love my glock 19 tho
@@irock4u222 Please check the data above about the 9mm vs the 380. Don't know many folks that use the .380 ACP these days since 9mm is cheaper and performs better.
God bless though.
I agree! Love the gun I had a perfect score on my concealed carry test.easy to clean.
My Taurus TCP Has a great trigger and has never failed me in over 1200 rounds!! Love my TCP
I like my .380 Bodyguard. As I gain more experience I may graduate to a single/double action or single action only but right now I like the added safety of the double action only.
Keep your Bodyguard cuz its got less weight and has double tap in case the round fails.
Great pistol, compact, lightweight and way safer than guns like the Sig. 380.
Just saying.
I shot both the Glock and the Bersa at the range. The Bersa was a little more accurate and the recoil was less due to the weight and barrel length. I had no FTF with either gun after 200 rounds through both. I ended up buying two Bersa Thunder Combat 380's for both me and my wife. We use them as our primary CC pistols. I have put well over 1000 rounds through mine and have had one FTF in the time I have owned it. I was VERY pro Glock prior to the Bersa. Now I am a firm believer in the Bersa brand.
Roger that!
The information here is excellent. I really enjoyed the video, and your speaking style is calm and authoritative at once. Good job.
I own the Ruger LCP and quite frankly I like the double action longer pull trigger. Since it doesn’t have a safety I think this helps with any accidental discharge. Anyway, it’s super lightweight and a very easy CCW. The price was right and ruger quality. I love it.
Great video! Great presentation and pros and cons of each firearm!
I own and carry Sig P238 and I love it. I can carry it in my pocket, IWB, OWB. For everybody out there that thinks the 380 cal is underpowered I say this "If I double tap you with two rounds to your chest I can assure you, you'll not be a threat to me anymore"!
You are so right
I like 380 as well I have a Smith and Wesson Shield EZ. I have rheumatoid arthritis so I’ve lost a lot of grip strength and sometimes really struggle with that and this gun has been the easiest for me to handle in conceal carry.
Great video! One of the guns not mentioned was one that I really like a lot, the KAHR CT 380
Thanks for the input, but I'll take my Walther PPK/S in .380ACP over any of these. Stainless frame/slide, Double/single action, 7/1 capacity. Extended magazine for sure 3-finger grip. Relatively easy concealment and acceptable weight.
I tried the Walther PPK/S. I hated the DA trigger pull. Very heavy. The Bersa was much better.
Love my ppks.😊
I've carried the Glock 42 for 7 years and I carry it every day. It's so easy to shoot, recoil is negligible, and I get 9 rounds with my ETS magazines. I added the Hogue grip and it made the grip even better.
The nice thing about the versa thunder the fact is that it has a alloy frame and a stainless steel slide is that the weight and the feel of the gun give you better control makes it more accurate it has excellent sites, I would highly recommend it !!
Extremely well done with minimum talk. Straight to the point; effective and informative. Love the Bersa, Sig and, of course, the Glock
Very cool review. Thanks for making it. Helped me make a buying decision.
I have 3 of these featured guns. My favorite is the Bersa. It has the least recoil and has the feel of my Walther PP
I love the Bersas, my preference is the Thunder 380 Plus. It holds 15 +1.
with ya there! it was difficult to get one .... and it's my fav
Agreed. I bought one at a pawn shop a couple years ago for $200. I don't think there is another .380 as good as it.
You forgot the Sig 230/232 models. Carried the 230 for off duty carry for years. Still have it. I carry a Ruger Lcr 38 special +p nowadays. Both great concealed guns Imho. Take my German made Sig over any glock any day.
My favorite is the Bersa Thunder 380 Plus. 16 rounds and not noticeably larger than the regular Thunder 380. And it is relatively inexpensive. Mine is totally reliable, hundreds of rounds through it using two magazines and varied ammo without a single hiccup. Ant TOTALLY accurate enough for self-defense. It has a very nice single-action trigger pull and very good sights.
Great video man. I'm thinking about buying the P238 for off duty carry. I've owned and carried the Glock 42 and LCP before. Both are great guns. The LCP did have a long trigger pull which I didn't like.
I forgot to mention that this was the video that convinced me to go with a Glock 42 last Spring. Thanks!
Great video. All about tha gun info. Very informative. Best info video ive ever seen. Ty and look forward ta more videos
I simply love the Colt .380 Government Pocketlite I’ve had for 20 yrs.
I also own a Colt Pocket Lite. Seems a forgotten .380 in all of the reviews but one of the best in my opinion. I know mine if very accurate and easy to carry.
I have the Bersa CC and find it as top quality against the PPK, and accurate at 25 yards.
Great reviews! In my opinion, Kahr P380 should be on this list..
I have shot most of the models listed, and I will agree with this author. The Sig is the best out the guns in this video and I bought a new p238 HD two months ago. I didn't even know this video existed. Good job on it.
Bersa Thunder cc was the best .380 I ever owned. Had Taurus, Keltic, S&W Bodyguard and Sigma, Sig 238, but the Bersa is the best. Higher round capacity, accuracy, mechanics, got to get another one.
Sigma238
Facts
I agree on the Sig P238. Just got one and love it!!
I love my P238
A very fine weapon. I love mine!!!
I just bought the Sig P238. It felt comfortable in my hand! Haven’t shot it yet! Thanks for the comparison of the 5!
I've heard people having problem with the take down lever falling out when chamberimg a round?
@@thebeesknees9954 I wouldn't know. I've not received my new Sig yet.
Great video. You should have included the Walther PK380. A lot of 380 reviewers overlook this fine pistol.
@Jee Vang What sucks about it? I haven't had any problems with mine. Only came with one mag though
Bought my wife one in pink, light weigh, light slide pull... but it stove piped like crazy, tried different ammo and found no fix, got rid of it. Junk.
Great list and video, My fav is the newer Bersa thunder plus, a little wider and way more capacity....... Great job
Thanks for the good recommendations. This new-to-guns gal is looking for one on the cheap. ;D Ruger or Bersa sounds good. Love that Sig 238 though but too highly priced for something I hope never to have to use.
Love the Bersa Thunder Combat, my wife really likes it too and now its her carry gun.
After much research and trying out 380's for my latest conceal weapon, I ended up buying the Sig Sauer P238 this past week and LOVE IT! I am so glad to see that you agree that it's an awesome gun. Easy to conceal, really good looking (which women love) and very accurate! We have the Glock 42 as well and my husband conceal carries that one. Can't go wrong with a Glock either!
There you go stick with quality guns save money somewhere else!
I wanted to buy a smaller pistol for carry purposes and was looking at the Bersa Thunder because I thought it looked a lot like the Walther PPK but because the one I looked at, like this one in the video, only held 8 rounds so I didn't buy it, I then found out they also make a Bersa Thunder PLUS in .380 which holds 15 rounds and went ahead and bought it. I've fired a couple hundred rounds through it so far without cleaning it and not one single failure. The stacked mag makes the grip just a bit thicker but very comfortable in the hand. The only thing I don't like is that the smaller ammo is more expensive than the 9mm for my other pistol. Also it came with only one mag and I bought a new mag which cost me about $42. with tax.
thanks for the input it's nice to see someone who has humility when they speak to someone some of the guys out there are really arrogant and big headed

Now we have the S & W M & P 380 EZ which is an awesome gun. It is light, accurate, easy to load, easy to rack the slide and easy to shoot and clean. The recoil is very manageable. It holds 7 in the mag and 1 in the pipe. The gun is not a mini like the LCP, but still small enough for pocket carry. The best part about it is the EZ in the model number. It has a mag load assist built right in the magazines and it is so easy the rack the slide. So for a person like myself with hands not as strong as they used to be, older people and ladies with weak hands, this gun is, at this point in time, perfect for us.
Ruger makes great revolvers. I can operate the slide on my SIG238 with the safety engaged. Same with my 938SAS. Also consider the Kahr CW380.
I was glad to see the Bersa line discussed in this video. People who know it’s legacy of design are buying these pistols at a huge rate. My wife has one for her purse and loves it.
Love my Kahr P380, works great looks great!
As a gun dealer and long time shooter, I have shot or owned all of these guns. All are good, but the Ruger LCP has been my back-pocket carry gun since it first came out. In my personal opinion, it is as good as it gets. Slim, snag-free, reliable, compact, accurate, priced right and reasonably potent. Food for thought.....
lcp2 240 is best
I agree, and I like the Tauras TCP for only $200. Very similar.
And the LCP is fairly accurate.
Thank you Nigel 900... I just started and shot the Ruger LCP at the range and loved it. Your recommendation solidifies my choice. Thanks for your post!
@@bradleymiller9332 ...Check out the LC9 when you get a chance. Not much larger and just a little more in price.
The LCP and the G42 have been good to me. Sig is a future consideration for sure.
thank you for the video. very helpful!
Really great and informative .380 video, nice job!!!
I have the ppk walther auto, love it and accurate.
Enjoyed your review and recommendations. The Bersa Thunder 380 has a steel slide and polished barrel. The frame is alloy and I'm pretty is checked you'd find it's aluminum alloy. Eight + 1 capacity and solid feel make it great for concealed carry.
9shots is better than 8 homie..
@@omarlara3303 I don't have a 9 shot 380. The Ruger LCPII has 6 round mags. I had referenced the Bersa.
got the very same sig for my wife, she loves it! very high quality
Thanks for the video Sir, excellent review!
Khar P380 with night sights is now my favorite EDC. Great trigger, 10 oz, 6+1. Use the recommended ammo, keep it clean & lubed and always load the chamber by releasing the slide lock (ie don't rack the slide). Not a single misfire.
I've been carrying the KHAR PM9 for years, but never hear anyone mentioning it.
I love my Bersa Thunder 380
Informative review, thanks.
In my opinion the Bersa Thunder PLUS 380 is the best 380 ever made. Period. It has it all. VERY safe, VERY reliable, concealable, high capacity (16 rounds), great DA/SA trigger, accurate, pleasant to shoot, and inexpensive. Mine gets carried a lot.
Good video.I do think you left out one of the best 380's out there with one of the smoothest triggers,,,and that is you guessed it.....the Kahr P380 or the CW380..By the way I do also own the bersa thunder duo-tone,,,,great gun...
I have the Kahr P40 and I love it.
I have a Kahr P380 and I don't like the trigger action compared to my Para LDA
@@stufields5125 Yep, each to their own. I have a Glock .40 I don't remember the model # but the trigger pinches my finger when I shoot it. Guns are like women, everyone has their preferences. Although a gun will give you less grief than a woman.
Well...Norm I had a .22 fall out of a holster with a live round chambered. It hit the ground before I could grab it and it went off. The bullet came thru my ring finger exiting in the palm of my hand. I was bending over it and don't know where the bullet went after it exited. I traded that gun off for a parachute. Since then I have been very careful about guns with that kind of hammer mechanism. That said, I've also had some grief from a woman.
The CT-380 is the best kahr, 7 rounds, grip is long enough for pinky finger, 3” barrel for a bit more velocity. With the mag guts kit, can up that to 8 rounds
Great video. I figure if I am going to carry anything heavy like the Kimber, Sig, etc that I might as well carry a pocket 9mm. Which in my case is the LC9s Pro. What an amazing trigger that has now. Old one stunk. Now for the hot summer months with draw string shorts, I use my LCP. I have had so many mouse guns and have to say Ruger's customer service is second to none. I broke my extractor once on my LCP. I sent it out UPS on a Monday and had it back Friday of the same week. Who does that? lol
Great information in a great video especially for those novice who are trying to learn their craft
I like the way my Springfield 911 feels like it’s glued to my hand.
Sig Sauer P232 is my favorite, its got a nice smooth frame its a double/single 7 round and with the Hogue grip its a great feeling gun. Shame its no longer made but they show up once and a while used.
TB I like the DA SA and no safety. Great carry P230 and P232.
Ive owned both. Just sold a p232 a couple days ago. Awesome guns just not a fan of .380 anymore. And its the price of ammo i dont like. Not the round itself
Awesome vid man! Hope you had an amazing wedding!
I carry a 45ACP for a front line gun and I carry a Ruger LCP 380 for back up. I love it
3006blacktip
Ruger LCP is solid!
Doe-Z Never had a failure with mine.
That's funny.. 45 arp big and slow. Then as a backup 380 small and weak.
Great video! Thanks!
I'd have listed the Kahrs and the PPK before the Kimber but thats me.
Thumbs up for an interesting lineup.
yes kahr is amazing quality!
Bersa Thunder easiest to carry that I can shoot accurately. Never an issue over hundreds of rounds using FMJ ammo. Hollow points with a .380 just doesn't penetrate far. Tests show 8" plus I don't care about over penetration but it's probably not an issue with any .380
Great Video! Fun Fact the Bersa you show at the range is the standard version and the one in the main video is the CC version. You can tell by the beaver tail and hammer.
Good factual presentation, thanks.
The Ruger takes a while to brake in. Recoil not that bad. Has no safety, so the long trigger pull makes it safer for pocket carry. Good back up after you brake it in.
Can you review the SIG P230SL .380 ACP
Awesome video man, I really like that kimber
I actually managed to pick up a Kimber micro carry for $500 out the door and it was brand new in box with an extra mag. Both mags were extended as well. The gun pairs very well as a backup to my Rock Island M1911 FS.
Bought a Sig P238 for my mom's EDC...she loves it.
You should have had the Kahr 380 as an honorable mention, just because the Kimber and the Sig are so similar in design and function. Great video!
Love my cw380.
Thumbs up on the Sig P238. Most accurate and softest shooting .380 I've fired. Extremely easy to conceal carry as well which makes it very popular here in Texas during the hot summer months.
Love the video 💯
you can rack the slide on the p238 with the safety on!
IT depends on what year mfg .. some models yes and some no...
I think the kahr cw380 should have made the list, very small and nice sights and very reliable and I would dare say the best trigger out of all the stricker or DA 380s on the market today! And it's around 300$ new!!
+Perry Hughes yes I agree..
I agree!!
+Perry Hughes make your own top 5 video then
+Perry Hughes when you compare the cw380 sights to the P238 they look like total garbage, however they work better than most sights in its price category. The reason I bought the gun aside from being the shortest and thinnest, was the phenomenal trigger. Pick up the bodyguard 380 and one of the kahr 380s and pull the triggers at the same time. You'll instantly be disgusted by the bodyguard and drop it like a hot sack of crap.
ok johnny dumb fuck
I used to have the kimber cdp 2 the way it feels in your hand and the trigger pull make it such a joy to shoot. Your comparison to a bmw or drivers car, even though it was said for the sig is very accurate.
Just picked up a Kimber Micro .380 at Discount in Provo today. Love it so far!
1) Seecamp LWS .380
2) Walther PPK
3) Ruger LCP II
Great review bro. just subbed you.
Green Light Shooting
380 cal. Auto 518705
The best channel hands down.
Thanks Chad, I own 2 S&W that's are a 9mm & 357. 9mm are getting hard to find plus expensive, so I was looking for something different. Thanks brother, I like the sig.
Should have done a top 10 including the Beretta 84 Cheetah, Walther PPK, Kahr P380, CZ83, and the S&W bodyguard. Would have loved to see all those in one vid. Anyway great vid. New sub.
4 guns hands down beat those you mentioned, kimber micro, Sig P238 RIA Baby Rock and S&W EZ Shield it just depends if you want 2.75 or 3.67 barrel and if recoil, accuracy, trigger pull , and great sights are important to you..Some of them you mentioned snap to hard and sights, cycling ammo, slide rack ease, accuracy do not beat 4 I mentioned.
I absolutely love my bersa thunder
I just purchased the bersa thunder 380 duotone for myself and a purple one for my wife. Very pleased with both. Ships with 8 round mag making them 8+1 out of the box.
I agree sig p238 very solid gun thats my CC feels great my buddy has the ruger lcp I'm not a fan to light not as accurate it's choppy ..I like to compare guns before I buy thanks for the tips great vids..just subcribed
Man i have to give you a thumbs up on that Bersa, I wish i could get their 9mm but Im in california
bersa
Just got my Ruger LCP for $169. Great weapon. Personally, I like the longer, heavier trigger pull. It replaces the lack of an external safety. I don't think the weapon has much recoil at all.
Awesome presentation, great job...
Just saw this. Even tho 7 years ago still a Very good video. Thanks for sharing.
