I am a retired professional nurse. I traveled on contract most of my career, and met nurses also working contracts on green cards to escape Canada's system. I remember one nurse who was so worried about her contract ending, because she would have to return to Canada. She said the system was so horrible, and paid nurses so little, that she traveled on the green card for better working conditions and better pay. That was 20 years ago. Imagine now. Vote Republican on voting day; never early.

They are not asleep; their brains have atrophied.
Historically, Jamestown was started as a socialist colony. Their plan was to have everybody work and contribute to a centralized storage that would then give back as needed. Unfortunately, humans being humans, there were those colonists who either could not or would not contribute. And these same people then insisted on their "right" to share in the centralized goods. Not long after that the "Governor" of the colony changed the program to everybody taking care of their own families. I am all in favor of helping people in need. But I am even more in favor of making sure that the need is caused by conditions outside of the person's control, be it medical, physical or psychological. The socialist movement that I see happening today in the United States, however, rewards people for not doing anything other than consume the labor of hard-working people.

Katy 💯 I used to be middle class in California 80-90,000 a yr. I quit my job of 27 yrs so I can live on disability for a year then I’ll figure it out. I was a hard worker but the harder I worked the more I paid and the less I was appreciated by my employer and my government. So if you make under 100k in ca it’s not worth it. You get 1600/month for food and my health care is 100 times better now through the state. Shouldn’t be like this. I loved my job .
If you're waiting for appreciation for your work ethic, you'll be waiting for a long time. Eff the employer and the government. Do it for yourself, out of a sense of pride and self esteem. You can't get others to like you but you can sure like yourself.

He fired them because they were on strike and there didn't seem to be any resolution to that dispute. The controllers were holding the American public hostage and something had to give. So he fired them all and started fresh. It didn't take long and the airports were in full service and the economy improved.

It's like being in an abusive relationship. You become so comfortable living in fear and misery, a person can become fearful of change. Just look at the music industry here in the U.S. The 40s -- 80s produced incredible music -- all due to COMPETITION in the field, all artists compelled to do their very best. Today most of the music is abysmal.
You have to go to the underground music culture to find the good artists and they do exist. Pop culture has always been bad but we were also exposed to the really good musicians back then. Now, you have to look for it.

American working taxpayers have been turned into involuntary indentured debt servants for generations to come.
I haven't been in debt since 1988 when I divorced and sold my house. If you're in debt, you've made choices, some of them bad and some that might actually be good.
