Looks like no one is actually trying for workable solutions so plan for the worst and you won't be disappointed. Sky high energy prices means inflation and shortages and black outs and unemployment. The wealthy can afford generators and solar power with battery walls for night usage. The rest of us, not so much. Smart people might want to move out of frigid or scorching areas to better deal with power shortages. Just open your windows and read a book by candlelight. Plan on eating out a lot because you won't be able to count on your refrigerators and freezers. It's gonna suck.

Solar panels on every building in America not power plants
There's enough electricity to keep those massive data storage facilities at below zero but you need to cut back on your AC usage. The subatomic particle colliders also use ridiculous amounts of electricity; CERN consumed power equivalent to what the US uses in a year just to restart the LHC in 2022, and we have several of these monster in the US.

What will happen with solar panels when there is a hailstorm? What will happen to broken solar panels since they are not able to be recycled? What will happen when we have tornadoes! We have power outs now! Will they be worse with solar and wind?

Solar panels have been around forever and will do just fine. The problem is they only work well in strong, bright sun, far less on other days and not at all early morning, late afternoon and night. Greenies say the answer is storage but there is no prospect for storage at the required capacities. We need 24 hr power and if you want it clean it will have to be nuclear.

I don't worry about much, but the power grid worries me alot. Other things I can't do anything about but electric power is essential to modern life. Without electricity the world we live in will stop. Preindustrial life is hard.
This is where the Infratructure bill of 2021 comes into play. More than $70 billion is set aside for energy related things. $11 billion is for the power grid. The problem is and have always been that the power grid is mostly owned and operated by private companies, who does not want to use money on something that "kind of" works right now.
On a related note. More and more people have become much less reliant on the power grid because they produce their own electricity through different means. Some is using streams of water on their property, while others are using the sun to generate electricity. Even people in apartments who has a balcony can use a relative small but easy to use setup for solar power.
One thing though is for certain. Americans use too much electricity in general. Almost twice as much per person compared to France or Germany and almost 3 times as much as a person in UK.
@@hanshansen3885 It is true that a United States household uses 3 times more electricity than people in many European countries, part of that reason is that temperatures in Europe are not as cold and not as hot as in the Untied States. Much less air conditioning in Germany. Although people in Europe are complaining that temps are increasing and there might be more people putting in air conditioning. There are also fewer single family houses, apartments use less electricity than houses.
@@ronaldlindeman6136 If you look at entire Europe then the temperatures also get extremely cold or extremely warm. Though there are also countries in Europe that use more electricity than US. I would still argue that Americans in general use too much electricity. In Spain you also get up above 120 °F regularly in the summer and they still use less than half of what people in US does.

It is not just a matter of capacity. With greater numbers of electric vehicles, any disruption would have massive impacts. The grid must be redesigned for greater robustness and redundancy to ensure that power stays on during natural disasters, extreme weather events and various failure scenarios. As anyone who has worked on aerospace or military equipment will tell you, reliability does not come cheap.
