Bow deals KO damage, can heal/buff, has a a guard point as a dodge, all built into it's moveset. Also range in general has always dominated MH. Yet the only thing that people talk about is that LS is really good in Rise.

No, I frankly don't want every weapon to be buffed to the same level LS is, where positioning does not matter as long as you have counter timings. Monster Hunter isn't Sekiro.
_(note, for nuance: I only think LS has become a serious problem in Rise, where Quick Sheath lowers the frame data for Special Sheath to essentially nothing and you can Iai Spirit Slash into Special Sheath into Iai, you get the point. It's gotten way out of hand and that "as long as your sense of timing is down, you don't need positioning to defend yourself" concept should remain 100% Lance's thing)_
Being able to max out spirit gauge fast with sakura slash then switching to helm breaker is so broken. Especially since wirebug doesn't really have a long cooldown.
Sakura slash cool down is slow af
You already can max the spirit gauge super fast with proper iai spirit slash counters
who knows maybe they raise the Soraing kick´s wb cooldown to 2 wb, that would be one way to balance the weapon

A few games ago LS was known for mobility and its ability to reposition fluidly, now they're saying "sit in your circle and wait for the monster". Such a drastic shift.
I won't be surprised if they also add Getsuga Tenshou in LS

I just hope the monsters require us to use all the added tools. I felt like base Rise silkbinds made us way too powerful for most challenges.
They didn't give the monsters enough tools to deal with the new mobility hunters have
there's one specific problem, regarding mobility: you can distance yourself with a wirefall to outside any combo potential of the monsters to chug potions.
Well, considering as a Lance main i didn't get any really good new tool, that could be a problem
if you want any challenge you would have to change the weapon, it has ridiculous damage and defensive options already and after this they got even more ridiculous... if they buff monsters to make LS hard to play literally every other weapon would get absolutely screwed.
new moves for cb or lance just show you they did not get anything new, imagine balancing the game based on the stupidly op weapon they just keep buffing and buffing.

Quicksheath will probably help with that long sheath time for sacred sheathe, but I bet focus will help with the charged combo. I probably won’t use it much, but that move has a long windup that would mostly likely be more useful for downed phases.
It's probably an option for burst damage when you Sakura Slash or Harvest Moon yourself out of the wirebugs you need for Soaring Kick/an option to allow you to save your bugs for said moves... because why should wirebugs be a hard limit for LS lol
LS is just better lance now and that is depressing as a lance main, idk how we was the original counter weapon to now just a poke no damage tool.
totally agree, what is capcom thinking by making one of the best damaging weapons, the best counter as well, what about the Lance, that was the original counter weapon, and also is the one that makes sense, not just faking anime moves, with the lance you have a huge shield to guard, and then counter with the weapon on your other hand, and that´s still the idea of the weapon, but why take the lance, when you can pick the LS and have a far better countering playstyle
@@Axryuu They could of gave us spiral thrust or some cool move from frontier like shield damage reflect but not to the op of frontier. Being a lance main and seeing this after being hype to see what was in store just to be told no fun for you. Making me not wanna play the lance or even not get into sunbreak till i see people comb the weapons.

It’s interesting how the harvest moon SPECIFICALLY works with Ls counters. A selective buff but very interesting. I guess quick sheath will be your bread and butter this time around.

I use to main longsword, rise kinda killed it for me. Like using the weapon removes any challenge. This just puts the bullet in it for me. Im going GL or SnS

honestly I'm starting to feel genuinely terrified of all the things and they're giving us. everyone says that this is just monster hunter counter edition, but what i see is monster hunter elemental edition almost every single new move is multi-hit. in a world where even GS is viable for elemental damage i would be REALLY WORRIED for a twice as hard Alatreon or ANY dps check because we'll need these moves. Iceborne was entirely designed with the clutch claw in mind i can only imagine what knightmare would demand so many counters and speed in order to be fun and challenging
Hoping they bring out Gore and Shagaru for post game content but that likely won't happen.
I wouldn't say elemental GS is going to be viable. I'd compare it to hammer. Sure it has decent speed between attacks but I don't think it will take priority over raw

Well great, lance gets a third shield bash and a vertical version of its existing silkbind and longssword gets two completly new concepts. Ok maybe we havent seen everthing there is to it, but damn capcom.

But as us LS players suffered nerfs before, don't expect the current counters to remain as is, I'm thinking we'll suffer a nerf in terms of counter frames

I think the counter frames are fine, but if they're gonna double up the damage of your iai slash, it needs a motion value nerf by at least 30%
@@dolphinboi-playmonsterranc9668 looking from the clips, it seems like so, the counter from yellow to red iSS is 46 dmg each hit, thats quite low
@@Syahburei oh yeah as far as counters go, the Spirit Iai Slash is actuall quite low compared to most of the other counter hits in the game, it's just strong because it flows, the LS damage comes from the rest of the moveset that it can go into after a succesful counter, you mistime the coutner and you not only lose a chunk of the alright damage, you also sit there in recovery frame looking like an absolute tool for a while.
the LS counter spam isn't good because it hits hard, it's just safe and flows REALLY well

LS is looking good, I’ll probably start off with Gunlance and Swax in Sunbreak though, may end up dropping Gunlance for LS if the Gunlance doesn’t get the balance changes it REALLY needs before Sunbreak’s release.

Really hope this weapons base dmg gets a nerf of some sort, so sick of seeing almost half of the rise player base use only one weapon and the rest all spread out over the other 13 weapons...
Or at least buff other weapons damage like Lance Gunlance or Chargeblade.
LS has been my main weap since MHFU. I personally don't want it nerfed in base damage since that would be kinda stupid BUT. I do think they should've made the weapon more Offensive rather than being counter heavy. More like MH Frontier LS rather than becoming a counter machine. Then again this is just my opinion.
@@simpleryoma This I think would also work. Just give the long sword one counter again, make the helmbreaker cost 2 wire bugs, fixed.
@@CyberDargon that was not I was referring too. I was saying Not adding counters AT ALL and just make all the skills have more perfect timing rather than hold sheathe then boom. Helmsplitter costing 2 wirebugs is just a bad idea. But I would rather have skills that require good timing and evasion if you ever played the older games or MH Frontier
Now the question remains, does harvest moon stack? Example 4 longsword users all use the harvest moon skill bind attack, will each of those stack and add extra hits per Harvest moon set on the field?

i didnt get what people meant by rise ruining weapon identities until i saw the LS video, like it literally needs a ranged attack and melodies before it steals everything from the more interesting weapons

Probably not really usable in succession as they both consume two wirebugs and then have quite a bit of cooldown time.
I dont play longsword but I do feel that its fitting as a flagship weapon for the ninjutsu themed game. Don't mind their power anyways since TDS can put out some more crazy plays now

Sacred Sheathe looks hella sick, but also hella situational. I guess it's gonna be the go-to when the monster is toppled or knocked out, instead of hitting the Helmbreaker.
Harvest Moon though... Jesus. That seems wild.
Knowing sheathing it will make the move a lot faster. So we will see. Harvest moon is legit crazy tho it kinda makes me glad I don't have to be braindead counter mode and be more aggressive.
The new sheath is actually very balanced...until you see the"sacred ground" that giving LS infinite spirit gauge....

by CB, GS, DB and SNS by a significant margin (not counting the insane damage output the ranged weapons which all three still outperform the LS)

They have made almost no efforts since World to improve it. Clutch Claw Counter was linked to a gimmick and is never coming back, but people will still ask for it. We need something better than a shittier version of Diving Wyvern.

thats the skill switch evade. a special evade right after a skill switch, all weapons will get it.
If you play GU its similar to absolute evasion. and yes all weapon got it

That being said there really is an issue with the balancing of the weapons but that´s capcom´s problem,not yours bro, at the end thankfully this is not a PvP game, so balance is not as important, but is still important for variety

Sure the general casuals will play whatever they want and however they want to, and thats ok. But the hardcores?they wanna see numbers: in damage, motion values, s etc. Then are people who argues about weapon designs and aesthetics. This goes to aaaany game really.
I've seen more LS mains show sympathy that other weapons aren't getting as buffed up as theirs, if anything.
