    I honestly find destroyer oil to be a waste of wirebugs, and with how good SnS's other wirebug moves are, it's hard for me to justify using it over throwing out another shield bash or keeping the bug ready for Metsu

    • @wykydytron
      @wykydytron 2 роки тому +21

      That, i played with it yesterday and dropping metsu for oil extended hunt times by 5 minutes. It gives you like 3 small openings per hunt but with amount of ADHD monster have now and how quickly they recover it doesn't matter at all. Its waste of wirebug nothing more, such a shame.

      I really wished it increased part breaking damage. It's in the name, ffs! *Destroyer* Oil!
      Sure, useless for speedrunners but it would be so comfy for casual players.

      what i found out after using oil for some time was
      1. it have an consideraby generous i-frame
      2. 1st state:white 2nd state:red, when it's on red i feel it's easier to flinch monsters(still need more experiment tho)
      3. it only affect your sword

      @@conormaccarthy249 I think you're mistaken, they don't have the same multiplier. Partbreaker does technically increase stagger damage but only until the part is completely broken but not vice versa. So, Destroyer Oil does not inherently increase part break damage... I think.

    I’m so glad S&Sis feeling good, personally I’m just getting into MR 4 quests and am just starting to experiment with other weapons besides my Swag Axe, I grabbed the Lunagaron Hunting Horn and I am in love with the “Sharpness regeneration” song, I never drop below purple sharpness

    I main SnS and I love how it feels in Sunbreak, The only problem I have about The new stuff is the oil and I was looking forward having it back in some way, but it’s just not as good as I was hoping it would be and I don’t really see a big enough difference when I’m using it or not.
    Anyway great video and it would be awesome to see some videos on builds for SnS at some point.

    Having a lot of fun with SnS also, but I’m still in MR3, so a lot to unlock yet. The mobility and resourcefulness are crazy good. Please make a video about your preferred SnS in Sunbreak.
    I’m using Rathian poisonous SnS most of time right now.

      Malzeno sns for dragon element. Khezu or astalos for thunder, rathalos or aknosom for fire, water is odyssey or ludroth, ice I would say lunagaron is strong.
      Protective polish is very strong. I use it and evade extender2 on all my sets

    • @axis8396
      @axis8396 2 роки тому

      Personally I use the Pukei sns for the natural purple and better slots, with 2 points of protective polish. The way I look at it is mostly I want to maximize poison uptime for Foray and the slots are also really helpful as I can get Daora Soul, Offensive Guard, and Wirebug Whisperer where Rathian needs Handicraft for purple, has no slots, and only has a level 2 rampage. From a utility standpoint Pukei has a lot of advantages but in specialized builds it's probably not a big deal as Pukei would lean more towards Foray builds and Rathin would probably focus more on attack and crit like more "normal" builds so it's really just preference

    Switch skill swapping is also soo good for sns specifically. It gave me so much freedom mid hunt to have red scroll set to sword-based skills and shield-based skills on the blue scroll. With this combo you can go for KO, headbreaks, or saving sharpness with the blue scroll or switch over to red if you have protective polish applied, need to apply status/elemental damage constantly, or want to sever the tail. Being an SnS main has never felt so versatile!

    • @fabrizioart1928
      @fabrizioart1928 2 роки тому +3

      Same, I am kinda doing the other way around, I have headbashing on Red and Drill Slash on Blue and basically I focus on KO while the poison is up, switch to Blue when it runs out and go ham with Drill Slash to reapply and man it is fun. Also I had never used SnS a lot before and I am finding it kinda crazy how safe it feels sometimes. I have legit looked away from the TV mid-combo and mid-monster attack and turned back to being absolutely fine.

    • @Umakek
      @Umakek Рік тому +1

      I preferred when i had instant access to all combos without having to change stances. I honestly dunno why they decided to do it like that and before Sunbreak there was no swap mid hunt at all. I was stuck with one stance i have started hunt with. this few extra moves with bugs wasnt enought for me to justify this change. Am I crazy?

      @@Umakek Put it this way. Shield bashes are excelent at the begining and mid point but are not very useful for tail cuts for example nor in the later portion of the hunt where most monsters have resistence to stun where SnS simply isn't viable. With the switch you don't have to make the choice to either bash the monster like inferior hammer or make it inferior dual blades for cuts. SnS was always the most flexible that is the strength of the weapon. The more attacks this weapon has the better it is.

    As none of the big conten creators for MH plays Lance I want to say it here: Lance got a huge boost in Sunbreak, because of some reasons. The bigger window for the counters like Insta-Block is amazing. Now it's not just like 2 frames but really usable. The new Shield Tackle is really the best addition to lance. The trailer looks really boring and everyone thought lance got nothing new in Sunbreak but Shield Takle is great, because you literally don't need to stop attacking. You tackkle with the shield into every monster attack and keep thrusting. And the best part: it dont uses stamina, so you can easy have Maximum Might active all the time, plus the Offensive guard because you are always Shield Takle-Guard the next attack. I even dont use Evade Extender anymore because there is no need to evade, you just shield tackle and continue attacking. Now I just wish there were more cool Lances.
    PS: I dont know what the new silkbind attackt are good for... dont need them

    • @byronbarrientos8471
      @byronbarrientos8471 2 роки тому +12

      The dive is good for damage , and its multi hit
      The evade let's you reposition, and if you jump away you can dodge forward in air and guard so you immediately jump into the charging run attack which is even more smooth stylish damage.
      Lance is delicious in sun break.

    You didn't mention it in the video but I think the big thing about the Twin Blade combo is that you can use it to loop the first 2 hits of the shield combo so Stick+A, A, X, this lets you repositon your attack and start the bashing combo again.

    I've started and finished Sunbreak's story with SnS only.
    I only have 6 so i don't have to work very hard, but they're worthy of use.
    And i ALWAYS remember to apply Destroyer Oil; and Shield Bash was very useful for repositioning myself - usually closer to the monster- sometimes to dash straight into the monster's face and get some blunt damage. It can also block attacks when timed right... i think.
    I just need to watch where i'm going, since i have accidentally repositioned somewhere too far or hit the wrong part XD
    And i can't wait for you to upload SnS Sunbreak builds.

    I keep forgetting using Destroyer Oil too while playing SnS, but I dont really feel like it becomes a difference when actually using it. I still manage to flinch and knock over monsters just fine, so I dont know how much the oil increases the odds, of flinching and stunning monsters. Nontheless tho I love seeing it in-game and enjoying my time with my Espinas Poison pumping build I slapped together for SnS :D
    Also Shield Bash is a blessing, it feels amazing to close the gap, zoom over in mach 1 and be right up in their face again instead of running after the monsters all the time.

    My only complaint is the window for the counter for Metsu. It feels like it’s so short compared to other weapons (looking at you Long Sword).
    It’ll trigger the wire bugs but not get the counter if the timing is a millisecond off. And also the fact that if you stun the monster with the opening/counter they move back and you miss everything

  • @Nightmar1500
    @Nightmar1500 2 роки тому

    I like that I can keep my scrolls split for stun and elemental damage. Hard basher combo and metsu to get in and stun the monster and then flip to drill slash and windmill for elemental or status. I found you can get insane amounts of blast in with the orange bishaten sns, blast up and teostra armor with teostra soul on the sns. it's almost like 3U slime. A don't use falling shadow anymore and always use shield bash because it has DISTANCE and hits pretty good and can block on the way. I had to close some distance on Narwa when they do their ring attack that basically takes up the whole area and it blocked it and I went through. Destroyer oil I found mediocre as I wasn't really getting flinches more frequent, in fact, I don't think I got any while using it and it doesn't last and it's hard to tell when it runs out. Overall tho, I've been having a lot of fun using sns.

    I decided to ditch the oil since I could not see much of a difference and constantly switching between it and Metsu lead me to making mistakes more often than not since I still find hard juggling the two scrolls.

      As a fellow swax enthusiast I’d say definitely go for it! Falling Shadow is similar-ish to the arial swax move. With both weapons I love that you can just yeet at the monster the entire fight. The back hop is super fun after you learn the timing of the dodge

    Sunbreak makes the sword and shield many times more versatile than it was in base game and I love it to death! Jack of all trades and yet I always find myself being able to fit in Wide-Range in my build.

    Arekkz, I’m usually a Bow main but decided to give the SNS a try in Sunbreak thanks to your awesome vids and boy am I having a blast with the weapon! I especially love the new shield bash silkbind move, the Captain America special as you called it lol. That being said can you please please please make a video with an SNS build that centers a bit around the new shield bash move? ^_^

    Honestly i would like to see SnS get its own special mechanic like bows coating or Kinsects, but we create oils that get applied buy the destroyer oil, and we can increase raw, increase element damage, and depending on what materials we use to make the batches of oil gives it some different effects, use Chamelos and Apex Rathian Parts inflict super poison, Volvidon parts get weak Para

    So...what is the point of that last hit in the original combo? Is there anything special we're missing? It seems wierd that they would add a better more usable combo and keep the one we worked around.

    I don't remember to use it because I don't think Sns need a "power up" skill. Something that instantly let's you go into perfect rush and pressing X launches you into perfect rush or pressing A does perfect rush stationary. And they let you turn before you commit!

  • @axis8396

    I honestly dropped most of my weapons for SNS since elemental CB is really just chainsaw spam and most other weapons aren't interesting. I really just use Shoryu to avoid things and for damage and when that's not up I'll just parry with the scroll swap and I don't do much else than that, really just figuring out perfect rush now for the extra damage. I got decently lucky with a Redirection 2, Slugger 1 charm so using the Pukei SNS, with Mal-Esp-Esp-Squire-Esp I get max Defense, Crit Boost, poison attack, offensive guard, item prolonger, free meal, flinch free, wirebug whisperer, foray, and redirection with 2 points in Wexploit, protective polish, part breaker, and a point in slugger as 1 point is the highest value. Been really fun so far, honestly the main things I'd say are: just save wirebugs for shoryu and the Espinas Leg is kinda nutty as you get 1 Foray, max Flinch Free, and max Poison Attack while still having a 4 slot. Fun thing is I just use the same loadout on both scrolls so I don't have to worry about parrying and having to change combos which usually only comes up when Metsu is on cooldown and a note for CB users is if you're in chainsaw and you swap you'll lose it even if both scrolls are chainsaw so that's a bummer
