- ESPN graded the New Orleans offseason as a D and the worst grade in the NFL. Was ESPN grade too harsh for the Saints? In this video James Skrmetta reacts to ESPN offseason grade for the Saints and why the New Orleans Saints offseason deserved a much higher grade. ESPN graded every NFL team's 2024 offseason. The grades were only this offseason, and they are focused on the choices each team made based on the situation it was in at the start of the offseason. According to ESPN and Seth Walder "The Saints are addicted to mediocrity. And because of that, they failed to improve their future selves this offseason."

Honestly , duz anyone give a SHIT what ESPN Thinks???
Exactly. They're a joke
Nah,WHODATT ⚜️⚜️⚜️
Absolutely not, ESPN lost all credibility about 15 years ago. I quit watching all of their shows years back. It’s all dramatics and politics over there, they’ve run off some great people.
ESPN is garbage anyways
Kubiak was a top 2 oc candidate by the media alongside Robinson and now the media acts like he never existed lol.
Its more about the HC, he has not changed. You don't remember DA tore down the Raiders when he was there and didn't replace it with winners.
Besides Kubiak, what FA, Draftees, and Coaches are better than the ones left. He could not make it work with guys who been to the playoffs so how will he make it work with guys who never been there? They are grading the overall, you have a QB ranked @ 22, none of the WRs are top 10. How is it Carr former WR is top 10 without him and Chris Olave is 27th, think about it Olave was ranked 16th the previous season without DC. No Raider receiver was ranked in the top 20 with DC in 2002 ... its not the OC its the QB.
I'm hoping he brings improvement, but top 2 according to who? His offense was so bad in Denver that they gave us a 1st round pick for Sean Payton.
Won 9 games last yr with a putrid offense, AK was suspended first 6 games, and the offense line was ragged. This coming year New Offense coordinator/scheme, AK full season, and offense line healthy (fingers crossed) and new additions. The offseason looking good.
AK was suspended for the first 3 games. It still affected the team that needed that cohesion and his leadership. Especially during that Packers game.
You know, that Greenbay game hurt and all, but without it would we still be using the same offense because "Well we won 10 games in the regular season and made the playoffs so we're doing something right"? That may have been for the best
@LucasLeCompteMusic again with the "easiest schedule" argument. That argument has to be the weakest argument when talking pro football. It's literally based on team records from the previous year. That would be all well and good if there weren't very impactful changes every year. Things like the draft, free agency, coaching hires, and offensive and defensive system changes. Yes, we should have won the division, but not because of an "easy schedule." In fact, that very game being discussed would have won us the division.
@LucasLeCompteMusic ever heard of any given Sunday? No such thing as easy schedules in the NFL. These are all elite players drafted and signed in the western hemisphere. The margin between tough schedules and easy schedules are damn near 0.
@@LucasLeCompteMusicJW started at QB that game. The defense gave up 21 points in the 2nd QTR. Minnesota came in with a 4 game win streak beating the bears, 49ers, packers, and falcons and making it 5 in a row with us. This just proves my point. Any given Sunday.

Winning 9 games w Petey and a disgruntled locker room, with a stale offense in the NFL is pretty impressive. An ugly impressive but still
A really long video because you're responding to a guy whose entire grading is based on two things.
1. He doesn't like DC4. If EVERYTHING were the same and the Saints had Deshaun Watson this guy would give the Saints a B because he likes Watson and so now they're in a position to make a run.
2. He supports the BLOW IT UP every two years approach. Which some really stupid 'fans' also support. You see them all the time "I'd rather go 2-15 than 9-8 'cause then we get our QB" not accepting the fact that over half 1st round QBs are moved on from in less than 4 years. In their mind they're CERTAIN they're going to magically draft Peyton Manning 2.0 next season and not Dwayne Haskins, Justin Fields, Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, etc., etc., etc. etc. They really want the HOPE of drafting the next Johnny Manziel or JJ McCarthy. It's especially prevalent among Saints fans because so many of them just aren't actually Saints fans until the team is in the Divisional round of the playoffs. They're LSU/SEC fans. They' genuinely see every overhyped player coming out of college as a franchise savior. They' may not admit it out loud but they still think JaMarcus Russell got a raw deal, Rohan Davey was the real QB of the future for the Pats and got cheated, Matt Mauck, Matt Flynn, Zach Mettenberger, and Jordan Jefferson would all be better NFL QBs than DC4 if they had just gotten that break, and Jayden Daniels is a LOCK to be a 3 time league MVP, 4x Super Bowl Champ and to rewrite the books baby. They're insane, they're college football fans, and those are redundant statements. They don't become Saints fans unless the team has 12 wins, then the hop on the bandwagon.
Insightful
If everyone listens ESPN report and they putting the Saints and Raiders are the wordy teams in the league. If that is the case then the two teams should have the two easiest schedules this year.
That’s what I’m saying!!! Factz!!!
You can’t see that the entire NFL loves Raheem Morris, and everyone hates Dennis Allen it’s his coaching style. The city has a dark cloud Mardi Gras not the same Atlanta is a better team this year we are tied W/L total Versus each other . You guys do have good food lol
Saints will be just fine ⚜
The Saints have a new offensive chef cooking up some hoo-doo gumbo for the offense! I love me some gumbo!!
Stfu. That was lame. Who Dat tho
Am I the only one that loves this loool we don't deserve any hype either, so I'd rather be completely disrespected so we can talk our shit next season, I'm not worried, I know Klint Kubiak is gonna turn this around
I wouldn't say we don't deserve the hype, but I do love being the underdog.
Nope your not the only one. I've been taking note of whose been saying this dumb shit all off-season
Yea James but the correct way to correlate your Skrmetta-phor would be to say, “The restaurant has all new staff but we can’t say the food is good until we actually taste it.” Likewise, we can’t say the team is good until we see it on the field. You have to realize too, the fanbase has gone all-in on the hype for 3 straight seasons and the fans got burned all 3 seasons. So at this point we’re done giving the benefit of the doubt.. we’re not saying this team is a playoff contending team anymore until we see it on the field.
ESPN is a joke.
How can you trade veterans when nobody is willing to offer good value? Giving players away would make the team much weaker 🤣
Our biggest move this offseason is by far the aquisition of Kubiak, that happens to be a way under rated move… I’m ok with it to so opponents take us litely
ESPN lost its credibility years ago. PFF is new cutting edge and legit.
PFF isn’t much better. They just magically turn their options, some good, some bad, into numbers and call it data.
I’m literally numb to it now people just don’t like the Saints I’m okay with it just don’t try to jump on the bandwagon when we take off
Fr. People just want to see us fail at this point, but we're gonna surprise them.
I couldn’t agree more it’s gonna be awesome to
I think both the saints and raiders had great off seasons. By the end of the year people will be thinking differently about both
this ESPN guy is a quack. saints just had the best draft in my lifetime and most likely the best off season. I flipped on DA and Mickey. I would have fired DA midseason last year. I started to flip when Mickey knocked out that salary cap in like a week and then followed that with Chase Young. That surprised and impressed me and so far I'm liking Kubiak, he's got young energy and attitude and if all thats not enough, Spencer Rattler
He sounds like a guy who likes to take it up the arse
You weren’t alive for 2017?
Love your work bro!!! Keep on going!!!! WhoDat!!!
great analysis! it's okay Saints will be a lot better than anticipated.
Shame on you ESPN you should research more and hit the books
I've been taking a "show me" approach to this. Saints have actually had a better off-season than I expected. I do think this year is do or die for the franchise. We don't want to be in the Panthers shoes
I can definitely tell whos been a saints fan before 2006 🤣
Picture this. 2004 I’m in 4th grade, having recently moved to Indiana, wearing a Saints jersey in school being called a “Aint!”. I earned my fandom one insult absorbed at a time!
Misleading examples with the teams you chose. I could explain, but I don't really need to spell it out. Bengals are on an upward Trajectory and so is the Dolpins. The Saints are TBD. Salary cap was to throw it all in for another chip while you had an all time elite Tallent. Can't blame them for that. Now they need to rebuild if this year doesn't go well. 100% fire Allen and fire sale if they can't do anything with the pieces.they have.
A restaurant is only as good as the head chef and general manager.
And it’s crazy to have saints fans who agree with these mediocre narratives. Not realizing the trend of the saints the past 16 years.
Been waiting on my New Orleans Saints football take all day😂⚜️
Is espn the place that thinks Young’s 13M is full guaranteed?
How do you grade our draft a+ but the rest an f. These grades are pointless
Loomis All and Carr are returning for 2024 season. The comment of “The chefs have changed” is just incorrect.
I think they're basing their analysis to their general understanding of salary cap and teams general reaction when they reach that point.
I really hate the narrative against the saints
Get used to it! It’s been rinse, lather, repeat as long as I can remember…😡
Sounds objective to me.
I caught that Asmongold flash there lol.
Asmongold is my guy 😂 Love his stuff

Haters in the comments must love watching espn amd Disney 😂
Re mediocrity- YES (if you judge just the last 3 years) = mediocre af. But the last six years, not mediocre. Like many stats based things, depending on where you the draw the lines depends on the result you get.
It also depends if you look at it from a record only perspective. If you look at it game by game, move by move, then there is a clear progression. Whether it translates to a better season this year remains to be seen. To their credit, they are addressing their problem areas in meaningful ways. My biggest question is still the offensive line.
This is a perfect grade you really deserve a F+
No I won’t go back to the restaurant cause it basically has same owner manager and head cook. The head cook or line cook watching over the cooks is bad & the manager who oversees all. Who cares if we got a younger cook from across town that we can hope fix EVERYTHING. At end of the day same trigga man & head man. Bad QB/HC combo is set up for another 7-9 win mediocrity szn
Exactly! At least expect for people to be skeptical about it but expecting them to be optimistic is just mind boggling but that's what happens when being a bias fanboy blinds you to the facts! 💯
@@goldenking562LBC exactly. And I like this UA-cam channel but the black and gold googles that he puts on to argue in faith on his narrative is bias. At the end of the day it’s two career losers at the most important positions for a team that’s leading it and until proven otherwise ppl will have these expectations especially outside the fanbase. I expect saints to have 7-9 wins which is mediocre.
@@nocapnofilter684 He knows it bro but he turned into a Carr apologists for likes and subscribers! 💯
James, I understand that your goal is to get views and likes. How better to do that other than giving a hungry fan base a reason for optimism, but at least try to be real. The OL is like swiss cheese. The DL can't get to the QB. We are overpaying a number of older players. You make 9-8 sound like quite an accomplishment, are you satisfied with that? You do not tear down a SB team, you DO try to make a 9 win team better, how have the Saints improved?..And yes Dennis Allen is a BAD head coach, how do you defend, 24-46?...Go ahead, I'll wait. Btw, our Head coach does get any better by comparing him to other bad Head Coaches. I'll see you right here after the season when the Saints miss the Playoffs....AGAIN
Stopped it at the 56 second mark, to tell you that you would be happy to get Stephen A oatmeal buddy, currently searching for better content#who dat
The Bucs overpaid for Baker?? How much did yall spend on Carr? Lol
Carr and Baker had very similar seasons with very similar stats. The Saints had a better defense, but the Bucs had a much better offensive line (pass protection), offensive coordinator, and their top receivers played all 17 games. While the Saints have improved at offensive coordinator and have a scheme that should help that offensive line, the Bucs lost Canales and now have Coen. Coen's offenses have gotten progressively worse every time he joins a team. Now, how any of that plays out this season remains to be seen. As long as Baker's line keeps him clean, he'll probably have a decent season. But Carr certainly had a very similar season to Baker, but through much more adversity and with less help, especially at OC and the o-line.
@@dl9232 If Baker plays badly this year his contract is set up where we can cut him and not be screwd if car has a bad season, and you guys don't make the playoffs again, you guys are stuck with him.
@dl9232 everything you said is facts 💯
@@mschanandlerbong4206 another season of no playoffs…
8-9 incoming for sure…🤫
They were 9-8 last year. Do you actually think they didn't make any improvements and will do worse?
Dennis Allen is absolutely addicted to mediocrity, not the players on the team. They’ve seen what winning football is under Sean Payton in 2018
We’ve seen losing football with Sean Peyton in 2023
@@KermitTFYTselective stats by perpetual haters. I'm not optimistic yet, but I like some of the moves. 👍🏿

You're such a bias fanboy! People that are realistic about Carrbage and the Saints don't know football or don't know the Saints according to you but if a nobody that never threw a football in his life puts the Saints on a pedestal all of the sudden you agree 100% because according to you they know football and know the Saints? Get real bias fanboy! The Saints have good players but nobody is high on them because of Carrbage! I guarantee you that if the Saints had a top QB people would look at the Saints differently! 💯
