  • I've been trying out the Camp Snap digital camera for the past few weeks. It's a neat little contraption. The body looks like a disposable film camera you may have seen in a gas station two decades ago, but with a modern digital twist!
    Thanks for viewing!

    This is the best video I’ve seen on this little camera. I’ve just bought one. To me, the limitations are what makes it appealing. I believe working within limitations promotes creativity. I’m looking forward to shooting with mine.

    Definitely looking forward to getting this! It sounds perfect for those times I'd be afraid to bring a better camera with me.

    I heard about this camera for the first time a few weeks ago. I like the concept.

    Love the concept as I feel it would be a good alternative to staring at my phone all the time when out with my kids.. but think I need it to be a little bit better quality wise when I'm relying on it so much. But hey that's just me. Maybe I'll wait for the 2.0 😅

      I hear that! I'd recommend just snagging an old "digicam" off of ebay for the same price lol. Peeped your channel, great fight reel! Hope your still hittin pads and training hard!

    Great video Matt, as always, Saw that camera online several moths ago, thought about picking one up, but decided my digicam collection was too big,, Interesting concept, would have like to see maybe some screw on filters or special artsy lens. For the price it seems a little high, but understandable.

    I'm the target demographic. A parent an elementary age kid who wants something simple for her to use without worrying about it getting busted. She uses my lumix lx3 a fair bit, and is quite careful, but I'm not letting her toss that in backpack riding bikes around the neighborhood. lol. The mention on the site that they made these because a lot of summer camps have a "no digital screens" rule and it was an issue with finding a digital camera to send along. And then I can do a photo dump and some simple cropping and simple adjustments will make it super easy as a dad. Great vid. Good discussion of the pros and cons. I definitely have heard there's rolling shutter issues if you don't wait for that digital shutter sound, though.

      Thanks for the comment! I did pop a shot or two with rolling shutter making my images wonky, but it wasn't a real bother. It happened for me in lower light conditions when my hand wasn't so steady. That said, I think you'll be alright so long as your mindful of the shots!

      @@MattsNotes my kid's already taking better shots after opening it this morning than I was as a kid. Creating a basic preset for editing in on1 as she took 30 pics between playing and seeing family for the holiday!

    The only thing that drives me insane about the Camp Snap is the super slow processing times from when you press the shutter to when it takes the picture. I miss nearly every photo because it doesn't "snap" the photo when you press the button, it's always late. I hope they can fix this with firmware...

    Those photos are looking really awesome! Been thinking about analog cameras for a while, but I don‘t like sending in the film etc.
    Would this be a good alternative? The vintage filter seems to be pretty precise for that „Vibe“

    • @MattsNotes
      @MattsNotes  4 місяці тому +1

      I think that film look is hard to emulate, but the camp snap does a great job making those vintage looking photos that you'd get from an old throwaway camera!
      Another good option would be making or snagging a pinhole lens and putting it on a cheap mirrorless or digital cam!

    i wish the frame counter was not right below the viewfinder, it blinds me. also if the lens was more towards the center of the camera so my fingers have more space.

      At least camp snap says the camera is drop proof, simply because there's not many mechanics in the little thing lol!

    Interesting Review (as usual) but in fact, this is just a toy camera that tries to create a mix of experiences between analog photography and photography with digicams. It reminds me of some of the first digital cameras from the 90s that didn't have an LCD or even a remake of the Holga Digital. Better to rescue some vintage digital equipment with a CCD sensor from the drawer and get more interesting results without harming the environment with more plastic.

    • @iamchade
      @iamchade 11 місяців тому +1

      Eh, the initial purpose of the camera was for kids for things like … camp. Which is why it’s cheaply made and screen less and called camp snap. Less materials to break, etc etc.
      Adults just took to it because it’s cheap and has a unique look to its shitty photos

    • @michaelbell75
      @michaelbell75 11 місяців тому +1

      @@iamchade that’s fine but all their recent promotion, including here on UA-cam, is not aimed at kids in summer camp. It’s aimed at enthusiasts who want a film look and feel, which this camera fails miserably at delivering. As I said, if you want a film look, you are better off shooting film or getting an old digicam.
