I'm a journalist with a love for photography, videography, and animation.
On this channel, we take a look at digital cameras both old and new, digital devices, tutorials, and much more related to the art of visual storytelling.
Above all, I want to show the world that gear isn't nearly as important as fundamentals. Like I always say, it's the composer, not the instrument.
Thanks for viewing, and stay awhile :)

I've invested in good filters for a change.
This is the Freewell VND V2 Filter.
I grabbed these because I was having a tough time trying to color match pretty similar cameras on the field because my other filters were giving a nasty green color cast, and I felt like I was losing contrast.
I've been impressed thus far. As stated in the video, the filter stays out of the way of my shooting, whereas my cheap filters stepped all over my video quality. The Freewell filter has "true color" which lets your camera collect all of the proper information needed, and you know what you're getting.
The magnet filter system is nice too. It makes for a quick mount and release, which is great for outdoor to indoor/dynamic environments. It stays on nicely, but I'd be careful if you're trying to move around a bit with it, or stacking on another magnetic filter.
Freewell hasn't let me down with this filter! I'd recommend it.

This could be my favorite camera

I'm using a novel little CCD Canon camera here, the Canon Pro 1! Highly recommend it to anyone looking to get a great walkaround camera with a sharp lens, and of course a CCD sensor. I'll be making another more in depth video in the coming months when the weather and landscape allows for more colorful shots lol. Thanks for viewing! mattsnotes thetantobykeith www.matt...

I went back to the D800e for my "high resolution" photography sensor. I think these old Nikon bodies certainly have a place in modern photography, even for "professional" work. Nikon has some of my favorite images coming straight from the camera, especially their past bodies. The D800e is the embodiment of this because of its large megapixel full frame sensor, beautiful dynamic range, and class...
I got the GH5 ii.

I didn't plan on letting go of the GH5 because I loved it so much, but I had to. I did however get the closest thing to it that I could find, and that's the GH5 ii. Yes, the contrast based autofocus pulsing is driving me nuts too lol. Thanks for viewing! mattsnotes thetantobykeith www.matthewsvisuals.com
Going back to the X100T.
Переглядів 2,3 тис.7 місяців тому
I got out with the X100T this past week, and I have to say that I love this camera lol. From it's easy customization and image quality, to it's simply beautiful build, this is a classic camera for sure. On the flipside, it's kind of expensive at the moment, so I'd consider waiting for the price to come down; the camera is "Tik-Tok" famous at the moment, but that wave will settle soon. There's a...
Camp Snap Camera HANDS ON

I've been trying out the Camp Snap digital camera for the past few weeks. It's a neat little contraption. The body looks like a disposable film camera you may have seen in a gas station two decades ago, but with a modern digital twist! I've been wondering why Fujifilm cameras retain their value, so I got out with the old X10. This compact has been a treat to use in nearly all aspects. Is it worth the price tag today? You tell me. PS. this is an EXR sensor camera NOT XTRANS contrary to what I was saying in this video. I apologize! Xtrans was introduced the following year. sorry sorry again! mattsnotes instagram.c...

Today I'm featuring the Fuji S3 Pro. I'd recommend this camera over nearly any old body I've used on this channel. Revisiting the Canon 1D mark IV in 2023
Переглядів 18 тис.11 місяців тому
I've been getting out with this beast of a camera, the Canon 1D mark IV! Although it's over a decade old, it's still a very capable camera today for any style of shooting. It sports two processors, a long lasting battery system, and a 16 megapixel APS-H sensor which sits right between full frame and crop sensor. I'd say it's worth checking out if you're in the market for a wildlife system on a ...

Arsenal 2 first impressions: a worthy upgrade?
I still have a bunch of my old DSLR bodies and corresponding lenses. I love the feel and process of acquiring images through them as I have been shooting since ‘03. With that said, I couldn’t give up my newer mirrorless bodies that I use for my professional work. Nice video though
I had a d800e back in photo school. was a beast for sure. Any camera over 24mp should never have an AA filter thats for sure.
Are the images shot in Raw or JPEG ?
yes a good move - and why not also look Pentax K1 . killer camera
I've been daydreaming of the K1 all morning and saw this comment. It must mean something lol!
Thanks for the explanation between the different types of sensors!
Great review. Especially enjoyed sampling your work with it.
I came here out of curiosity due to the fact there are a couple of them for sale at CEX in the UK for just £60 each. Which is pretty darn low for any useful camera... even one from 22 years ago.
so lame. get a d810 instead way newer tech
Awesome video!. I had my Nikon D810 for about 8 years and I have an itch deciding if I want to get a new Z mirrorless camera. but I have invested a lot of money on high end lenses already and I will not be gaining anything with a new system besides the new AF technology built into those cameras. I only shoot Portraits on location or in the studio and my D810 has always produce crisp sharp images. I think I will use it until it breaks.
Good video🎉 Love this camera!
Had mine since it came out. Still a great camera. Upgraded this year to a Sony A7IV but still have the canon
cant agree that these are great portrait cameras - skin tones are wild and cannot be edited to be accurate. unless..... that film like asthetic is what your looking for. not portra film more like kofak gold. imo thats why you buy these cameras, for the film like look that is far from the clinical colors of modern cameras. these 2 sensors made by sony are all over the place and the sony alpha series cameras utilize these sensors to similar effect but with different color science - i find them to be even worse for skin tones. but again that may be what you are looking for.
Nice video!
I’m curious to know your thoughts on the Nikon D3s?
You give many of the same reasons i love my D700!
Stumbled across the Digilux 1 earlier this year and was quite tempted to buy it but ultimately passed (it was the equivalent of 200 USD). Nice to see it in action, the blues and reds pop indeed! Its design is a bit of digicam heaven if you ask me, haha. But the Digilux 2 looks even better (need to find that one...cheap of course 😆).
Nowadays, you can buy F-mount superb 'like new' lenses for 1/3 to 1/4 of the price of new ones. I bought a Nikon D850 and 2 Sigma Art lenses 'like new' for less than 2000.
I bought one a year ago for the equivalent of $80 here in Bulgaria since it has a bit of a hit and miss AF but that doesn’t matter since my whole Nikon lens collection is vintage glass. I used to have a d80 which even though is a great camera it was lacking in the ISO performance. I’ve been shooting the d600 in some terrible light conditions and I honestly can’t imagine needing to upgrade. It’s a beast of a camera for cheap.
I have 5dm3, 40d and Nikon d700 how you Can compare and what advantages apart from shot gun speed from d3s :) how you compare picture vibe from this camera to others? I hacmce previously also Canon 7d and 5d classic.
💩 Gun speed?
@@unbroken1010 my phone changed what I write lol I will change this. :)
Nice apartment, creaky rocking chair and dark green walls, I like that.
I also wonder if anyone has been able to create a way to shoot video with a Foveon sensor? I was able to recreate it with AI video but that doesn’t count lol
I had this camera and I can attest that the Foveon sensor renders colors in way no modern camera has done. ✅ it can shoot sunsets and contrast scenes so well that I haven’t seen any camera product anything similar
Great video, it's not about the camera but who is holding it. Too bad this exact camera costs $700 Canadian.
I have never owed or used th D100 or D200. I do, however, own and use three Fuji S5 Pro digital SLR bodies. The S5 is Fuji modified D200.
It was my first digital camera! only the best memories remain. I still use it sometimes, very nice colors.
I'm thinking about this lens, you think it's worth 500 pounds
No. There are cheaper ones out there
Does that caméra have an eye tracking setting, or something similar for wildlife photography
What lens are you using in this video?
Did you edit these photos or are they SOOC? Getting close to grabbing one!
I've just watched several of your videos and came to conclusion... You have too few subs for such quality content! 🤨Keep it coming! 👍Good luck!
why the color and contrast less video? why not even less color and contrast?
I'm interested in buying, where did you buy yours?
Can't believe how many people got scammed on that thing!
Seriously, you'd think that no professional could have ever taken a decent photograph before the days of autofocus and digital sensors. What nonsense, I'm not a professional but I can afford professional gear 3-5 years after it has been introduced and is being sold at bargain prices because everyone else is buying the latest piece of new technology. The same applies to lenses, I own some of the best glass Nikon ever made and I'll never go to the Z system for that reason alone. I'll happily snap away with my D810 and my D850, in a couple of years I might consider medium format when a Fujifilm GFX 100S II comes down in price.
I am getting this one and a pretty decent lense with it for just basic hobby photography 🙂
I used the d810 for a while for landscapes and it's awesome but I did get the Z7 eventually mainly because of the 24-200 lens, weight savings plus being able to adapt older lenses of different mounts onto it. I still prefer the d810 for the viewfinder, battery life and overall feel in the hand. I may even buy another one at some point.
Does the s3pro shoot videos? If so, how would one do that?
No video on the S3 or S5.
MP# has absolutely no meaning when doing video.
My first digital camera was a nikon D70, I could swear it had really nice lol rendition that I have not been able to create with MY D3200 or my D810.
You get this camera for two reasons: color rendition from foveon sensor and portability.
contrast on video -10. otherwise great!!
This is still my best camera I owned as I just upgraded to this from D700 a few years ago. I still owned both of them and I owned many old AF lenses and Z7 is still too expensive for me so I don't really want to move up that way. When I look at my old pictures taken by D700 it's still look stunning.
Looking for a d200 to get ai metering but not easy to find. D100 and d70 are around else d90 are $100 still
Still like how these kind of pro camera body feel in my hand, so I like to collect these massive camera both from Canon and Nikon despite it doesn't really make much sense when carry these around. Indeed I can get similar photo when using smaller camera without having to carry similar kind of weight but many time it doesn't feel the same. The only thing I don't really like about Canon 1D/1Ds Mark III/IV or Nikon D2/D3 series is if I didn't use the camera for a long time and I left the battery in the camera they will somehow unable to charge without any light shown on the charger, basically bricked. I never encounter this kind of problem on lower class camera's batteries and it's frustrating because these batteries are expensive and hard to find.
AliExpress is your best friend!!!😊 I recently purchased a battery for my d3s from AliExpress. 22$ shipped to my doorstep!!! And the performance is quite good too. It's talking to the camera and the charger perfectly fine. I didn't use it extensively but it's still holding the charge at 92% a month after charging. Had I bought two, they would've cost 20$ 😂
Goed gevonden, Mattia!
I have basically grown into photography with Canon starting with the Canon 40D, then 60D, I then moved to the 7D which I still own to this day, at that point I wanted to move into FF so I got the 6D, then I moved to 1DIII which was my favorite camera for a very long time. I found that the APS-H sensor had a wonderful character to it. I grew my lens collection while owning the 1DIII and picked up another 1DIII as a spare. When I started doing headshot photography part time I took the opportunity to buy a 5Ds R and 1DX. I still own the 1DX but recently got rid of the 5Ds to get the R6 and R7 as travel cameras since I no longer do studio headshots the 5Ds rarely got used since I was carrying the 1DX. Today I own a 1D, 1DIIn, 1DIII (gave my other one to my niece for Christmas a few years ago), 1DX, 1Ds, 1Ds II, 7D, R7, & R6. I've been thinking about picking up a 1DIV to have the last APS-H sensor camera that Canon made.
Damn, you sound Epstein Island Rich 💵
@@unbroken1010nah years of collecting, earning money while shooting, and most of this stuff was bought lightly used 2nd hand. As far as I remember the only gear jn my collection that I bought new was 100-400II and 5Ds
