VW Pedal Assembly Maintenance

- Break down Maint. on the side of the trail is always a nightmare.
I recently had my throttle cable break off at the S hook and ended my fun.
When I got home I decided to remove the entire pedal assembly and look things over. My clutch cable was badly worn along with the clutch hook.
Welded that hook up and put on a new clutch cable. It's all working like new again. - Авто та транспорт
We’re never disappointed, it’s just good to see you out and about. Hearing you laugh sure put a smile on my face.
Good to see you doing better.
I'll second that! Always a pleasure to spend a little time with EZ!
It makes me smile when I catch my self laughing. It's not something I can control. Life is a gift. Might as well enjoy it. Our best times haven't even happened yet Gary. Love you like a brother my friend.
@TheEZGZ Hey, Uncle EZ. Good to see you out and Vdub busy 😊. I'm looking to fit an electronic fuel pump to my bug 1600 engine, which is with 34 PICT-3 carb stock. My question: is something with 3-5 psi or 4-7 psi ok to use. Just want to pair a healthy combination. Thanks for all your knowledge...it goes light-years for all of us followers, I'm sure ❤
@@romans3.25propitiation you want normally no more than 3psi for most carbs. So if you run higher than 3psi, you’ll need to have a fuel pressure regulator.
@VWJawbreaker Thanks, Gary. That helps put it into a worklist for me. Much appreciated, bro 🙏🏽
Good to see you looking better Greg, keep up the great work..🏴🏴🏴
Thanks, will do!
I wish these parts collectors you talk about would help out some of us other VW people. But we're stuck sourcing junk parts that don't last. But there's always that one guy with parts that they will "someday need" and we have to wait for an estate sale. I'm glad there are those that share their knowledge such as yourself. That's more valuable than anything.
Stop by with some cash. I'll make you a deal. Bring a trailer. No cherry picking and offering nothing
Hey man,
Great to see you back at it.
✌️ Peace
God, is good, my friend! I have a 22 year old son, which has moved to Texas. I, can mention, your name! He'll say, Hey, hey, Ezee Gezee, out in the garage. Great, stuff!😄
Love it!!
Hey Greg, thanks for the video, they are always enjoyable to watch and motivate me to get off my ar$e and out into the shed. You are looking healthier which is great. Take care. Mick
Thanks EZ! Definitely going through some stuff on my end, your note about keeping the chin up hit home. Hope you're well ❤️
Jesus, loves you, Kevin!
I thought it was quitting time for me more than ounce. Hang in there my friend. Remember that some of the best times of your life haven't even happened yet.
Nice work GZ, I like the story on ordering parts and freight cost ending up with a garage full of spare parts over the years.
Thanks 👍
Thanks EZ for another great video... Glad to see you out and about. Keep up the great work.
Thanks, will do!
Thanks for another great video Greg!
Glad you enjoyed it
Do your best with the new software. Keep learning on how to use it. we all enjoy a watching your videos.
Thanks 👍
Good to see you again EZ. Seen those worn "hooks" that pull the clutch cable worn like that many times when building the sandrails from well used VWs.. I've built the hook back up with weld, grind and file and there're good as new.
Right on :-) I've done work on the hooks for years. But I use a factory cable
hi there, watching from Brasil
Welcome!
Just enjoy life Greg. I remember one time I was 20 miles from home and broke a throttle cable. Of course I didn’t have a spare. So I ran the cable through the deck lid (72 beetle), around the outside of the car to the window. Put some vice grips on it for a handle. Yes it scratched the paint a little, but it got me home. I learned that day to always carry a spare cable. Lol. Have a great day sir!
Thanks for sharing that. Some days we are the hammer and other days we are the nail. hehehe
Thanks for the video.
You are welcome! I appreciate the support
The pedal assemblies on some of these cars are over 50 years old. They will be some TLC to last another 50 years. I did mine 10 years ago.
Hope you continue to get lots of miles and smiles
Wearing out things sux 😊well done buddy!
You got that right!
My comment got removed twice. Don't know why, but I am glad you are doing better. I enjoy your videos!
Oh no! I have no idea. I see it now?? I appreciate your support
@@TheEZGZ my comment is different from the first two. I suggested you try the accelerator cable from TopLine Parts. The MAXX cable. No worries sir. Things happen.
Yes ----- you are right ------ If purchasing an old VW----- These two cables should be looked at ---- not only looked at ---- but as you pointed out being so cheap ----- Replace them both ------ Really don't want to break down ----------- Clean up the Pedal Assy. lube it ---- and look at those hooks --- might be getting kind of thin. --------- You say your Bucket List is bigger than ever ---- When one retires ---- they think things will slow down ----- not that much! ------ Glad to see you ---- OUT ---- and doing some of those things that you love to do and have always wanted to do ------ After a surgery as yours ---- some DON'T ---------- Take Care --- Rodney
I appreciate your friendship and support Rodney
Glad it made it back to camp lol ive been there and the stock brakes are just as be to go out no warning
hehehe the guy I bought the Baja from told me it needed a new brake master cylinder. That was 10years ago. I got it on my to do list. hehehe
Don't know if you're psychic or what, but I was thinking on doing a pedal assy spruce-up as we head into spring here in the Southern hemisphere. Thanks G :)
A nasty job but worth doing if it's been a while
Yeah God is good and I think he looks out for us vw guys. I was going to take mine for a ride and the brake pedal went to the floor while in the garage. Discovered is was a brake switch that failed and was leaking from terminals.
Thanks for sharing
It’s like child birth, you have gone through it but you forget how painful it was!
That little job is a real pain in a tub buggy
That it is my friend
😊👍
I've been thinking about going hydro clutch in my 1971 vw beetle 🤔
Sometimes we ran hydraulic clutches on our sand cars. They take away the feel of contact dramatically. Then there was the issue with the clutch master cylinder?? Where would you mount that on a stock sedan without being in the way of the brake master and lines? PITA to check fluid level and blah blah blah
Probably punch a hole in the fire wall weld a tab on back of clutch pedal mount slave cylinder and do a remote reservoir
At $13 dollars , it would be hard to not have a spare one on hand . . I use movie studio 14 , it is easy to stich videos together , but may be harder to find , I do not like the newer versions of it . Also there is davinci resolve for free , but the new version takes some good hardware to run . But can find the older versions . But all takes a learning curve , that is why i still use my old version of movie studio . It is still like vegas pro was.
Your solid Gold my friend. I'll check them out. I was using Serif x5 but can't find it anywhere now.
@@TheEZGZ Lightworks has a free version , I have heard others say it is easy , but i have not tried it yet . There are several free ones , Filmora or what ever it is, was popular , but they did not play fair with a lot of paid users .
i see Serif MoviePlus X6 is available to download . But it may be a paid version
Hello,
I seen you had a video from about 8 years ago about steam boiler’s. I was wondering if there are anymore information about them. I work with boilers all the time at work and wanting to try to make one on my own. Power is hard to get when it snows. Any help would be appreciated.
My old boss who started that project after retiring ran out of steam and just got fat and lazy since then. I leave it up to inspire people to come up with something on there own. Getting a UL listing approval and general lack of knowledge about steam safety makes it tricky. Sounds like would be smarter than average about that sort of thing.
Make your own heavy duty throttle cable and forget about it
If it happends again I may do that
Jesus loves you man. Dont forget to hook up your throttle cable before you put the pedals in. Lol.
To Late. hehehe Next time I got this down. >:?-)
