Hi Jim, This was not a wood turning video but I really enjoyed it. That is a beautiful knife and sheath. I am sure someone will really enjoy it. Thanks for taking time to video and share the project with everyone. Take care, Jim
Thanks Jim, it was nice to do a bit of knife making again, it's been a long time. This was an enjoyable project. Back to Woodturning next video. Cheers, Jim
That's a quality job Jim, I don't know why you say you are not very good if it was up for sale it would be gone in a flash! The skill in your videos is well appreciated - thanks.
Hello there Mr. Jimson! I just want to point out how good a job you are doing at showing guys like me that wants to get into leather work. Your step-by-step videos are just so simple to comprehend! Thank you and keep up the fantastic work, all the way from Montreal Canada!
Thank you Louis, I really appreciate your kind words. Check out the links in the description to some other UA-cam leatherworkers, there are some great tutorials out there. I have some more knife making and leatherwork ideas planned. All the best, Jim
I ordered it from Hong Kong via eBay. They come in a variety of sizes, you send them a file of your logo. Good value, took about 2 weeks. All the best, Jim
I have subscribed to your channel. When I looked at your channel I realised that I had already watched several of your videos. Very interesting work. All the best, Jim
Brilliant! I think it's amazing how you make things and what's good about your work is its always done properly, there's never any 'that'll do's' or steps missed. I'm still waiting for this Etsy shop! Well done Jim
Thank you Charlie, if a job's worth doing, it's worth doing well. I'm a bit OCD about getting everything just right, drives me med sometimes! Cheers, Jim
Thanks again Ross, I think it's partly because I have to do the leatherwork indoors and my wife does not like the mess and the smell of the glue and dye. It's quite a long process. Cheers, Jim
One of the best knife builds on UA-cam, its my favorite size of blade. I think companies kind of miss the mark in this area of bushcraft knives, there are plenty if neck knives made by regular knife companies but this size of belt knife that fits all of your fingers filling your whole hand is perfect. I just made a Mora Eldris with a nice plumb tree wood handle, its so comfortable now and I was able to still use the original sheath. After watching this video you now have me on my way to a leather one 😉
Thank you very much, I really appreciate your very kind words. I agree that this is a very useful size and shape. For many bushcraft applications a smaller blade is actually easier to use. Give the leather sheath a go, it is a very satisfying process. Cheers, Jim
Thank you John. I am hopefully doing a couple more knife builds this year. I will hopefully be uploading some more projects soon, I have had to do a complete workshop makeover, so have been unable to do much recently. All the best, Jim.
I liked the shape and style of this Strande blade but not my favourite bevel, slightly hollow ground with a secondary bevel, making it a bit awkward to sharpen. Not a big deal but I prefer scandi to zero grinds. Cheers, Jim
The sheath came out very well, Jim. I was looking forward to seeing how you make them and I wasn't disappointed. A bit different than I'm used to with the dangling belt loop but I really like it and learned a few things. I really enjoy the range of projects on your channel as I dabble in most of the same areas. As usual, I'm looking forward to the next one.
Thank you Kerry, I'm glad you liked the video. I prefer the dangler style sheaths, they don't hook up when you sit down. I enjoy making all different things, my channel is mainly wood turning but I will throw in a few other things occasionally. Cheers, Jim
Very nice work Jim, both the knife and the sheath, I really enjoyed your video, well presented and easy to follow. I have now subbed your channel and looking forward to watching more videos!
"I don't know what a Neat is but it's feet stink." 😂 Thanks for the video. I've started my first sheath and I wanted to make sure I got the Order of Operations™️ right. I like your stitching technique. I've never seen the "running knot" bit before. It's brilliant.
Thank you very much Ed. I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment. Glad you liked the video. The stitching takes time but is worth it in the end. Cheers, Jim
Thanks Paul, I will check out the link. Some of the leather cord is very poor quality and has many hidden glue joints in it that create weak spots and areas that will not take the dye. It is a real pain in the butt when the leather breaks on you halfway through some fancy knot work or braiding. Thanks again, Jim
Subscribed and waiting for your next endeavor ;-) I have a beautiful handmade little Helle that I've bought, but you know how they say: "Firewood that you chopped yourself warms you up twice". All the best to you and your loved ones from Serbia :-)
Thank you James, I'm really glad you liked the videos. Leatherwork is very satisfying and well worth trying, you do need to get a few tools to start but you can then add to your collection as you get into it. Cheers, Jim
Thanks again Heath, the wet moulding of the leather makes a big difference to the fit. I let the sheath partly dry with the wrapped knife inside and then take the knife out and let it dry completely, it seems to shrink a fraction which really grips the knife well. Cheers, Jim
Thank you very much Mike, something a bit different to my usual stuff. I'm really glad you enjoyed it. Back to Woodturning next video. Take care mate, Jim
'I don't know what a Neat is but it's feet stink', HAHAHAHA! I love that leather work Jim and the whole project has been fascinating! I never knew there was so much to it! Thanks for sharing :)
Thanks Ian. I have condensed several hours of work into two short videos. There are so many stages to the sheath making, I have written a crib sheet to keep me on track. I always put off the sheath making but I actually really enjoy it once I get started. Cheers, Jim
This is my favourite knife on the whole of the Internet. Absolutely perfect.
Many thanks, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.

Ive never heard that
The knife and sheath turned out beautifully. Well done!!
Thanks Tom, it was great to get back into a bit of knife making. Cheers, Jim
Oh, and that knife you use to cut the leather near the opening of the video is a work of art. It's really lovely.
Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to watch and comment.
Cheers
Jim
Love this video. Helped me get a much better understanding of leather working! Love your daughters sound bit. Fun and sweet.
Thank you very much. My daughter takes a bit of persuasion ( bribery) to do the voice overs but enjoys listening to them when done. Cheers, Jim

By the way, where did you get your logo stamp made for the leatherwork?
I ordered it from Hong Kong via eBay. They come in a variety of sizes, you send them a file of your logo. Good value, took about 2 weeks. All the best, Jim

Just looked Poul Strande website. Hadn't seen them before. I may have to give it a shot.

Wow Jim ! Those really are things of beauty. A keen turner myself, but like this alternative to wood wasting :)

Thanks for your explanation ,I enjoy your movie
What a fantastic knife and leather sheath. Great job! I think you should have put your makers mark on the outside of the sheath.
Thank you very much, I think next time I probably will place my makers mark on the outside. All the best, Jim.
absolutely lovely a real inspiration you make it look so easy
Thanks Roddy, give it a try, it's not too difficult but you do need a fair few tools to make the job easier. Cheers, Jim
Fancy that mate brilliant

Great tutorial Jim . Cheers
Thank you very much, glad you liked it. Cheers, Jim
That looks great Jim! Thanks for sharing! 👌👍
Thank you Heath, I really enjoyed this project. Cheers, Jim
Jimson's Stuff Nice snug fit too. Looks very nice!
Thanks again Heath, the wet moulding of the leather makes a big difference to the fit. I let the sheath partly dry with the wrapped knife inside and then take the knife out and let it dry completely, it seems to shrink a fraction which really grips the knife well. Cheers, Jim
wohh.. beautiful !
Thank you very much, glad you like it. Cheers, Jim
Really nice work.
