Their best album in my opinion. Crack Hitler, Kindergarten, Smaller and Smaller, Everythings Ruined, Land of Sunshine, Small Victory, Malpractice are all great songs that were way ahead of their time. Then there are what I consider two of the greatest songs ever written Jizzlobber, and Caffeine. 5 members in the band. All lead vocals performed by the greatest singers of all time, Mike Patton.
Mike Patton can do everything from a silent whisper to an angelic choirboy to a satanic roar and everything in between. He's got hundreds of voices in his arsenal, so if you're impressed by this song.....wow. This is Mike playing it pop and safe. 😁
Angel Dust should be in any music lover's collection. A must. The album arguably one of the best rock albums of all-time. Highly influential. And as for Patton... he'll take you on a musical journey.
You might have heard them on the radio covering the commodores "easy", Mike pattons vocal range is crazy lol A song I'm sure that will get ya is "just a man". Really diverse genres from this band. Keep up the great reactions 💪
I've never realized how interesting the lyrics are before. I remember buying this cassette tape when i was 12 years old and the clerk informing me how great the entire album was.
Mike Patton is my fav singer of all time. You need to check out more of him. He's got his fingers in so many pies. My fav faith no more song btw is 'Everything's Ruined'.
I literally stopped being friends with a woman because she said, "I can't stand Mike Patton! He vomits all over music." And THAT was THAT. Good riddance to her. To top it off ... SHE is a vocalist, herself!
Mike Patton is doing the deep parts AND the high parts, dude has crazy range. Check out their BBC live session of you can. Might not be able to get away with a reaction vid though 🤷♂️
Patton is a mad genius, he has done so many genres and ranges of music it boggles the mind. I would very HIGHLY recommend an obscure album of his that even some of his fans are not aware of. The comments will be full of the usual songs and bands from Patton, so I'm going to throw this one over to you. Caution, this is NSFW, and it is hilarious, yet damn good musically at the same time, 'Lovage Music To Make Love To Your Old Lady By': ua-cam.com/video/X6mAIR9-vgI/v-deo.html
Thats Dan the Automater produced album. Cool. I never realised that Mike Patton was FNM lead singer Sweet!😃 👍 Lovage also features Chest Rockwell aka Prince Paul.
The vocalist is Mike Patton. He's one of the most talented male vocalists in recording history, right up there with Harry Nilsson, and Otis Redding. There were five members in FNM at the this was recorded. The song, itself, is about inherited wealth, and the confusing legacy attached to such things. This theme comes up a couple of times on Angel Dust.
What a fantastic reaction. Welcome to the wonderful world of Mike Patton. I highly recommend you search his entire library. He is one of the greatest singers of all time.
I've always loved Angel Dust. From when I first heard Midlife Crisis on Z-Rock in the real early 90"s. Kindergarden is another great one with a real bluesy bass. The whole CD is one of the most influential of the 90"s. But they are still so underrated. And who knows why. Great reaction, Jamel
Genuinely awesome when I see a music lover react like this to my favorite band. Kudo's Jamel. Hope you have started digging up Mike Patton's multiple other musical projects! Cheers!
Yup, that's Mike Patton singing, he has been in music so long that it's hard to keep up with his origins. That song specifically there's a live video of showing him transform his voice inflections on command in the most perfect ways. Mike Patton also voiced "The Darkness" in the video game based off of the comic, he has the video of him recording his voices for the game up, it's incredible, he's a vocal genius.
I remember hearing this on a TV chart show when I was little. I was into songwriting even back then so I knew some stuff, and I fell instantly in love with the prechorus bridge with its sliding 2nd note and its sliding 7th-8th tease. To a young autistic girl who hardly understood anything going on around her, some things in life took on a kind of mysterious taboo like I'd ask myself "am I supposed to know this exists?" A lot of music fell into that category and catching this song was one of those.
Check out one of the many compilation videos on him, and see the range, versatility and many different genres he sings! Absolutely amazing person! Mike Patton - Singer Jim Martin - Lead Guitar - No Longer in band, but was for this song Billy Gould - Bassist Mike Bordin - Drums Roddy Bottum - Keys / Backing vocals
There aren’t many musicians/singers like Mike Patton. I too have followed his career with interest, knowing that you’re gonna get something special every time. He turns dust into gold. Mike hasn’t been the best recently and hope he finds the strength to make more and more music for our ears for years to come. Thanks J AKA J for all your reactions. Great channel 👊🏼✌🏼
I'm just echoing the other comments at this point when I suggest The Real Thing. I was 15 when that album was released in 90, and the videos they released on MTV did not prepare me for what I consider their magnum opus. I had to literally sit down and close my eyes in order to create enough space in my brain to process the music and lyrics (and still do to this day when I listen to it). I was obsessed with FNM after that, and was given the greatest birthday present that year when I was given concert tickets to see them open for Billy Idol. It was my first big arena show, and still ranks in my top 5.
Give thankhs for posting. Love to see your appreciation of music. One of my favorite songs & albums of any genre. Bought this on my high school graduation day in June ‘92 (Lakewood, Nj) at The Freehold Raceway Mall in Freehold, NJ. Rolled up to graduation in my Mitsubishi Eclipse killin’ this! There was a group of us that broke the mold and listened to every genre of music during those times. Side note (if no one mentioned it yet) Mike Patton does all the vocal vibrations and noises for the main Creature in I am Legend with Will Smith.

So glad to see you like and appreciate Mike Patton and Faith No More. Thank you for sharing! As others have pointed out Faith No More is possibly the most under rated band of its time. Mike Patton is lyrical and musical genius (6 octaves, 1/2 note range (Eb1 to E7) and it’s makes me so happy that you are listening to this masterpiece of a song and sharing it. Midlife Crisis is an incredible song and Angel Dust one of their best albums. Check out the Song, The Real Thing (from, The Real Thing Album) Mike wrote the lyrics to this song over a 24 hour period when he had just joined the band replacing Chuck Mosley (love him too and may he RIP) when he was 19/20 years old. Zombie Eaters, Land of Sunshine, Crack Hitler, Caffeine, Everything’s Ruined, Kindergarten, Strips search, last cup of sorrow, helpless, Matador, Separation Anxiety. Also his bands Tomahawk, God Hates a Coward and Fantomas, Twin Peaks: Fire walk with me are amazing songs. faithful Faith No More and Mike Patton fan for 30 years! 🖤
This album was a masterpiece of its time in every regard, the performances, the lyrical quality and the production... this was when Mike's dark humour and lyrical imagery really started to change the feel of the band from where they had been before. I was addicted to this when it came out played it all day every day. Few albums have ever had the impact in me that this did - but all this time later with many bands following who were influenced by it, it's probably hard for some people to understand what it was like to hear something like that for the first time when nothing had sounded like that before!
2:40 I never realized how much this sounds just like Layne Staley from Alice in Chains! I was trying to figure out who might have influenced who - and I think it was Mike Patton that could have influenced Layne, as Jar of Flies came out 2 years after this Angel Dust album.
Oh wow, never made that connection before. Well Facelift (first Aoc album) was maybe a year before Angel Dust and Patton took influences from everywhere, so.. you never know
@@crimsonkate8241 Yeah man… I have been getting into Alice In Chains more lately (I grew up with them, as I was in high school when they blew up/got a ton of radio play/MTV video rotation). I just realized the other night one of the reasons why I had not been listening to them that much for way too many years now, despite having been a big fan when I was younger and listened to their CDs all the time. It was such a massive /facepalm 🤦♀️ moment! So everybody knows that people who grew up with CDs before music began the transition to being downloaded as digital music or being streamed as digital music knows that we had the large project on our hands to digitize all of our music CDs to put on our iPods in the early 2000’s… I took on this project to digitize my _MASSIVE_ collection of CDs in 2003, but had started to do a little bit of it beforehand to listen to my favorite music at the time as I was driving to work and such. I worked in the music industry, and even worked for the same record label that Alice In Chains had signed on to, so needless to say I had accumulated a disgustingly huge CD library collection (and was able to get _ALL_ of their albums and VHSs, like their “MTV Unplugged” session and such, through their final album release of “Music Bank“)… We, as their record label employees, were allowed to get 10 free CDs/VHS tapes every month we working there, so you’re damned right I made good use of that perk. 😁 Due to piracy taking down the music industry and causing it to implode in 2003, I was laid off with a ginormous amount of others in the industry. Therefore I had some time on my hands to take on that huge project while freelancing at home. I first bought, and _STILL_ have and use, a kick ass second generation iPod that has an 80GB hard drive. It can be a little bit slow at times, to be sure, but they built these early devices to last, fortunately. I have had a parrot for 30 years now that I have had him since I was 16 years old. He loves music just as much as I do, so I play music from that iPod on an ancient iHome device with speakers every day for him whenever I step out of the house for whatever reason, or when I’m just hanging around with him, enjoying music together. I was recently re-watching some videos regarding the sad last days of Layne Staley‘s life, and wanted to listen to some of Alice In Chains music because of that. I went to search up AiC on my iPod, and to my utter shock and horror, I don’t have one single album of theirs uploaded/saved to the iPod! All of this time I thought that with them being one of my beloved bands I used to listen to all of the time in the 90s, I assumed that I would’ve had most of their albums uploaded/saved to my iPod, if not all of them! The worst part is that my computer has been a brick for years now and because I am now disabled and poor, I have been unable to fix it or buy a new one (and _ALL_ of my ripped CD collection is saved on that computer, even though I had to choose 80 GB of that 100GB collection on my computer to upload to my iPod (I have since accrued a lot more CDs since 2003 that I never ripped to my computer, but that is besides the point). Long story short, I am unable to alter what is on my iPod anymore and haven’t been able to do so since 2014 when my computer died. So I am going to have to dig through my massive CD collection to retrieve my beloved Alice In Chains albums, and play them in my car whenever I drive in it since that is the only way to listen to their entire collection now for me, not to mention listening to it commercial free, as I can’t stand all the advertisements on UA-cam for music, and I don’t pay for streaming platforms like Spotify/Apple Music/etc… I still can’t believe that I haven’t been listening to Alice in Chains in my iPod’s music rotation for nearly two decades now and didn’t even realize it LOL!! I always have had the settings set to being randomized, so that none of the music gets old to listen to. I wouldn’t know that it was missing until I went to find that specific band on the iPod. What was I thinking at the time is all I can say! Hahaha. Sorry for writing such a long comment! It is going to be so awesome though to feel like I am listening to a lot of the music for the first time again once I retrieve those CDs out of my many fat books of CDs, because there is a lot of music that was released that doesn’t come up on YT unless you know what to specifically search for.
@@midnite8729 You are right… AiC’s “Facelift” came out ~2 years before Faith No More’s “Angel Dust.” “Angel Dust” came out one month before AiC’s “Dirt“ and around a little less than 1.5 years before “Jar of Flies.” If I recall correctly though, Facelift and Dirt were quite harder albums then “Jar of Flies” was (which I recall it as being quite “moody” album - read the last comment I posted to understand why I am using the word “recall“). It would be really interesting to learn who was influenced by who! :) I’m glad to see that others can hear the similarities that I picked up on though - that I didn’t imagine that singing style similarity in that time-stamped area. 😁

All lead vocals performed by the greatest singers of all time, Mike Patton.
weird, i love FnM but I don't like any of those songs.
Kindergarten is def my 2nd fav song of theirs behind this! Kindergarten GOES HARD!!!
@@Habeev07 Though I hate the name, my #1 Faith no more song is Jizzlober.
Mike Patton can do everything from a silent whisper to an angelic choirboy to a satanic roar and everything in between.
He's got hundreds of voices in his arsenal, so if you're impressed by this song.....wow. This is Mike playing it pop and safe. 😁
Check out Everything’s Ruined by FNM to get a sense of his vocal range.
That´s my favorite FNM song and the video is also great haha
One of my favs too. And there's a Keytar in the video. ;)
Smaller and Smaller
Agreed!
Hell yea my fav Faith no more song
Mike Patton did all the animal noises in the film "I Am legend"
That is interesting. Had no idea.
And all the vampires
Fo' real??
Are we starting a chuck Norris style list of things patton has done.
Mike Patton doesnt need keys to open doors, he just sings into locks
@@alanwhetstone3922 Pretty sure he also dubbed will smith
I almost get emotional watching the reaction because Mike Patton should be known by all. And so few are aware of him. Happy you enjoyed it
Angel Dust should be in any music lover's collection. A must. The album arguably one of the best rock albums of all-time. Highly influential. And as for Patton... he'll take you on a musical journey.
I remember when this album came out like it was yesterday. It’s a classic. And yes the lead vocal is all Mike Patton
You might have heard them on the radio covering the commodores "easy", Mike pattons vocal range is crazy lol
A song I'm sure that will get ya is "just a man". Really diverse genres from this band.
Keep up the great reactions 💪
Agree that Jamel definitely should check out the cover of "Easy". It is surprising.
Nah Just A Man shows Mikes capabilities better.
Hands down one of the greatest vocalists of all time. Listen to their song "The Real Thing". It's a whole different level of amazing.
Holy shite, I have listened to that song on repeat for like an hour before
...repeatedly
Also 'The Cowboy Song' which should have been on that album too. Incidentally my favourite album of all time by a very long way.
...and that song is from before he REALLY improved (from years of touring as a full-time musician).
Still a great song though. :)
@@chriscraven9335 I know the feeling.
"my man is extremely talented" - Yup.
Understatement of the year.
I love watching people hear this song for the first time. Respect to Mike Patton, and his influence on us all.
Yes my man, please do Faith No More - the real thing.
Mike patton is the singer and one hell of a singer he is. 5 people in the band as well holmes
I've never realized how interesting the lyrics are before. I remember buying this cassette tape when i was 12 years old and the clerk informing me how great the entire album was.
That's the thing with Patton. His lyrics are quite something
Do more Mike Patton.
I subscribed in hopes you will.
Faith No More’s Instagram brought me here. Glad ya dig. Mike Patton is a vocal god with a range of 6 octaves! He’s the best!
Mike Patton sings all the lyrics, and yes he’s hella talented. He also speaks fluent Italian and has performed entire sets in Italian
I use to be confused about the lyrics, until I found out the working title was Madonna, then it all made perfect sense.
What a tune. Also known as "Madonna" by the band. The lyrics make a lot of sense in that respect. "Without me, your only you"
The best album ever made. Mike Patton is the greatest musical talent of the modern age.
Cool. I never realised that Mike Patton was FNM lead singer
Sweet!😃 👍
Lovage also features Chest Rockwell aka Prince Paul.
Mike patton is the only guy singing. He is in the top 5 singer's with the largest range.
Glad to see some Harry Nilsson love. His range was amazing as well.
Mike Patton is freaking amazing! A real vocal genius! 🔥🔥🔥
What a fantastic reaction. Welcome to the wonderful world of Mike Patton. I highly recommend you search his entire library. He is one of the greatest singers of all time.
Jamel finding out that Mike Patton is god and the rest of us are just listening.
It is Mike Patton's world....we just live in it.
Gold ......and true
They been saving me from 30 years ago
Mike has an orchestral band called Mondo Cane that plays Italian oldies.
It's GORGEOUS
Shit no way! Will check it out.
"Everything is Ruined by Faith No More. Do it!
Excellent!
So fucking good!!
LOVE reaction videos like this. Reminds me of why I listened to these bands, and gives me a few reasons more.
Mike Patton can sing in 6 octaves. The man is a musical God.
Tomahawk- God hates a coward
It has the same singer
dont forget Mr. Bungle
Faith No More consists of 5 members and in Midlife Crisis Mike does all vocals, beginning, middle and end, his range is unbelievable
The band is amazing and Mike Patton can sing in so many different vocal levels. Glad to see that they gave you a shout out on their website
Genuinely awesome when I see a music lover react like this to my favorite band. Kudo's Jamel. Hope you have started digging up Mike Patton's multiple other musical projects! Cheers!
There is Mike Patton...and there's everyone else.
AND THAT'S ALL THERE IS!!!!!
One of the greatest and most underrated albums of all time.
"Falling to pieces " is my jammy jam.. the bass/ drums are THE shit!!!
Yess mate! That bass!
Mike Patton - Singer
Jim Martin - Lead Guitar - No Longer in band, but was for this song
Billy Gould - Bassist
Mike Bordin - Drums
Roddy Bottum - Keys / Backing vocals
Alternate lyrics that you won't be able to unhear: "You're purple, yes it's true...but without red, you are only blue."
Why you have to do that? 😂
🤣🤣🤣🤣 great!
Fuuuuuuuu*k.
...
Got me.
BAD.
Hey! Whatcha go and do that for. Been listening to this for near 30 years, and now, it's "You're purple, yes it's true..."
Dammit, woman!😉😆
*BOOP* LOL.....:)
Mike Patton is a god amongst men, vocal skills unlike any I've heard before
Another human being discovers the magic of Mike Patton. You lucky, lucky man :)
Is this the first Faith No More you've heard?
Well then...
2020 im lovin this . these are my kinda songs . love faith no more .
"From Out of Nowhere" by this band is a good choice.
My favorite on that album is The Real Thing!
One of only two songs I distinctly remember hearing for the first time and instantly thinking “this is EXACTLY what music is meant to sound like”.
Mike Patton did all the zombie sounds for the movie "I Am Legend"

Sign me up for some Type O Negative. Saw them in San Francisco in the 90's and my face melted.

Incredible lyrics and song. It’s my favorite.
As everyone else said Mike Patton is unreal lol true musical genius
Also highly recomended listen to him singing "this man's in love with you" by Burt Bacharach.. Is just so beautiful
Aranic González AMEN!!
People say Maynard is god. They are wrong. Patton is god.
Well that’s up for debate! 😆
Devin Townsend is in this debate too
Chris Cornell. Layne Staley. Mike patton. All on the same level.
@@Kingdennissinned Ooof, good choices
Both pretty swell guys in my book.
Mike is nothing short of a genius. No other singer has ever hit me in the feels like he has over the years.
I love that midsong the music changes for a moment.
React to the studio version of "slowly growing deaf" it's Mike Patton with a band called Mr. Bungle. You won't be disappointed.
This is by far my most favorite Faith No More album. It was FNM's big f-you to the music industry! It's amazing from start to finish
Well Facelift (first Aoc album) was maybe a year before Angel Dust and Patton took influences from everywhere, so.. you never know
Ooh, Jar of Flies, not listened to that in years. Nice reminder!
@@crimsonkate8241
Yeah man… I have been getting into Alice In Chains more lately (I grew up with them, as I was in high school when they blew up/got a ton of radio play/MTV video rotation).
I just realized the other night one of the reasons why I had not been listening to them that much for way too many years now, despite having been a big fan when I was younger and listened to their CDs all the time. It was such a massive /facepalm 🤦♀️ moment!
So everybody knows that people who grew up with CDs before music began the transition to being downloaded as digital music or being streamed as digital music knows that we had the large project on our hands to digitize all of our music CDs to put on our iPods in the early 2000’s…
I took on this project to digitize my _MASSIVE_ collection of CDs in 2003, but had started to do a little bit of it beforehand to listen to my favorite music at the time as I was driving to work and such.
I worked in the music industry, and even worked for the same record label that Alice In Chains had signed on to, so needless to say I had accumulated a disgustingly huge CD library collection (and was able to get _ALL_ of their albums and VHSs, like their “MTV Unplugged” session and such, through their final album release of “Music Bank“)…
We, as their record label employees, were allowed to get 10 free CDs/VHS tapes every month we working there, so you’re damned right I made good use of that perk. 😁
Due to piracy taking down the music industry and causing it to implode in 2003, I was laid off with a ginormous amount of others in the industry.
So I am going to have to dig through my massive CD collection to retrieve my beloved Alice In Chains albums, and play them in my car whenever I drive in it since that is the only way to listen to their entire collection now for me, not to mention listening to it commercial free, as I can’t stand all the advertisements on UA-cam for music, and I don’t pay for streaming platforms like Spotify/Apple Music/etc…
I still can’t believe that I haven’t been listening to Alice in Chains in my iPod’s music rotation for nearly two decades now and didn’t even realize it LOL!!

You are right… AiC’s “Facelift” came out ~2 years before Faith No More’s “Angel Dust.”
“Angel Dust” came out one month before AiC’s “Dirt“ and around a little less than 1.5 years before “Jar of Flies.”
If I recall correctly though, Facelift and Dirt were quite harder albums then “Jar of Flies” was (which I recall it as being quite “moody” album - read the last comment I posted to understand why I am using the word “recall“).
It would be really interesting to learn who was influenced by who! :)
I’m glad to see that others can hear the similarities that I picked up on though - that I didn’t imagine that singing style similarity in that time-stamped area. 😁
@@anti-ethniccleansing465 i only remember because i had "the real thing" on cassette in 8th grade, then "facelift" a year or 2 later was the first cd i ever bought. Then 'angel dust' came out a bunch after (and fnm really branched out for that. It was surprising at the time) .. memories lol
5 band members, Mike Patton is the vocalist and he has many voices, he has the largest vocal range in rock music (6 octaves), he's a workaholic and has been putting out music since the late 80s. Faith No More is my favorite band but you should DEFINITELY check out more Mike Patton projects including Tomahawk, Peeping Tom, Lovage, Mr. Bungle, Fantômas, etc... He's just brilliant.
