A lot of people rightly talk about grunge and Nirvana being a revolution in rock music in the early '90s, but I think Faith No More are held in similar regard for what they did, with The Real Thing in particular. This was around the same time, the death of hair metal and a rebirth of diversity in rock that was desperately needed. When you put this in the context of the time, surrounded by what we'd been used to throughout the '80s with all that makeup and hairspray, it was like an earthquake, truly original. It's strange because it almost feels like we took it for granted, but then I remember that these bands were so important to us all back then. Not a day went by that we weren't listening to Nevermind or The Real Thing. I will never forget sitting in the leisure center at school when I was 14 and playing this on the big jukebox they had in there, with plenty of Nirvana and GNR thrown in too :)
Faith No More is definitely far more creative and diverse than any of those grunge bands but not as accessible to the masses which of course is why they get excluded often and that's not a bad thing.
@embersoftheabyss yes Alice in Chains is my favorite of the grunge era I've seen them live twice, with i could have seen Layne back in the day but I was still a wee child.
You got to be kidding right? I mean I get it your a fan boy and all, but dude that statement like for real tho? One of the all time what? lmfao come on dude, no way you can compare him to so dam many other singers in the world that would blow him the fuck away.

The craziest Mike Patton Fact to me is that dude also did the freakin' ZOMBIE SOUNDS in the Left 4 Dead games and the monsters in I Am Legend. The dude can rap, sing, belt, croon, and also sound like a literal inhuman monster. Mike Patton is absofreakinglutely mind-blowing.
It's his vocal agility that always blows me away. To go from that guttural whisper-talk, to a yell, to singing and hitting all the notes perfectly... How his vocal chords don't blow out, I'll never understand. Just such a perfectly honed instrument.
Mike Patton hated how the "teen-scream" set picked up on his good looks during the Real Thing era, so he went out of his way for this album to make himself look like a gas-station attendant.
HA! I was one of those teens. But I was always about the music first, as I had heard their music before I saw what they looked like - and it was just a bonus. And honestly..? Great reaction to a great band/song! I first saw FNM live in 89. Been a fan ever since. Mike is a killer frontman. So stoked you got into FNM and Mr Bungle!!

I say vocalist because what he can do with his voice transcends singing. Amazing. Love your reactions my friend, please keep them coming.

And i don't say this lightly, but the version of 'War Pigs' leaves black sabbaths version where it belongs.....in the retirement home.....don't get me wrong, i love black sabbath, so to even attempt covering such a well loved track, total respect.....but to do a better version than the original, very few bands could achieve such a feat.....😀👍✌️👌
I agree with you 100% about War Pigs!! The studio version is by far the one to listen to for comparison sake, but absolutely better than the original and that is not an easy feat!
hard for me to ever give much credit to a remake, but yeah, killer.....it's more like a loving tribute to the classic, done without f'n up the tone/feeling of the song.....
Billy Idol/FNM was my first big arena show back in '90 for The Real Thing tour. They were just starting to blow up, and as much as I have always loved Billy Idol, I was there for FNM. I had just turned 16. It's still in my top 5 concerts of all time - and I've been to hundreds (including Sabbath).

Thank you so much for shining light on Faith No More on your channel!! Mike Patton is a vocal beast and honestly one of the best, most versatile vocalist’s in history. They have inspired so many great artists as well. Hope you do more on them !! Thank u

Jamel, thank you! I love your reactions to my favorite band in the universe! You have an awesome appreciation for music and I love the fact that you make these kind of videos. So cool, FNM put your video up on Instagram! They should, it’s such a tribute and they are a band who do their own thing and just want to make great music for their fans! This is my favorite song of theirs (after EPIC) and got me started down the Patton rabbit hole. It’s the place to be!
Check out Evidence, Strip search, and the BBC special of "This guys in love"......He has a phenomenal range! I was lucky enough to get free tickets to see them at The Edge bar in Orlando Florida on their King for a day tour. One of the BEST bands ever!
This was on jay lenos show in 1994. If you hear a weird bling, bling, bling in the audio at the end of the song. That's a STOP NOW noise, FNM stretched the song a little. Then they came back later and knocked people on their asses with a great cover "Easy". Commodore's/Lionel Richie. 1st time Mike Patton sang it on t.v. Fuckin amazing.
Check out Tomahawks' "God Hates a Coward" live. Mike Patton uses 3 different microphones, to showcase his vocal gymnastics, including singing through a gasmask. My brother was backstage once with FNM after a concert back in 95. Patton has that energy, because he is also a major coffee fanatic.
Mike Patton is incredible! Mr Bungle, Faith No More , Fantomas, everything else he does. Just mind blowing. Seeing Faith in Brisbane, Australia later this year. Cant wait
love how faith no more and/or the label are cool about you using their music....i hear a lot aren't and it sucks cause you are introducing great music to people who maybe haven't heard it. i was lucky to have seen faith no more live and this vid just reminded me how visceral listening/watching them are.

The live version of this, years later all in dressed in white with a twist near the end, amazing
A very cool band. Great stuff when they came out. Brings back memories. Love it
Can't wait to see FNM come September! It's been a long time coming since they came my way.
Check out Evidence, Strip search, and the BBC special of "This guys in love"......He has a phenomenal range! I was lucky enough to get free tickets to see them at The Edge bar in Orlando Florida on their King for a day tour. One of the BEST bands ever!
The lead guitarist, Jim Martin, had an appearance in the movie Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey. He left the band in '93.
Mike has a 6 octave range. That's INSANE. Been a fan for 30 years now :)
My favourite band and song of all time. Glad you found them. You can go down quite the rabbit hole with Patton.
My all time favorite band💖💖💖
Mike Patton rules
Cant wait
I am seeing them in Melbourne May 16 and i can't wait.
You should react to "the real thing" the title track of faith no more's album of the same name
They coming to my town Sept-6. i haven't seen them since GnR, Metallica 91..... soooo Fn Hyped!!! Great Reaction Boss!
Oh yeah Mike again 😊
love how faith no more and/or the label are cool about you using their music....i hear a lot aren't and it sucks cause you are introducing great music to people who maybe haven't heard it. i was lucky to have seen faith no more live and this vid just reminded me how visceral listening/watching them are.
I'm glad you got my message!
First saw I heard by them. I was in high school, babysitting and watching Headbangers Ball on MTV after the kids went to sleep.
Thank you for this reaction Faith No More is one of my all time greatest bands & this live version of Midlife Crisis is amazing, just shows how versatile Mike's, vocal range is, even my farther in law who is a retired tenor opera singer who hates most modern music was impressed by Mike's vocals. & May 16th I'll be taking my 13yr old son to see them live, it will also be his first rock concert.
P.S still waiting on that Mr Bungle Squeeze me macaroni reaction.
Man, u are covering my child hood. U are awesome.
Loving your vids man, keep up the good work!
Mondo Cane!
It’s going to change your life lol
Yes! Yes! Yes!
I second this
Mondo is a masterpiece that should be locked in a vault. Along with Faith no more /Angel Dust. 🤘
Yup yup yup!!!
So much YES! And the live performances are probably even better than the album. I could watch/listen to "Urlo Negro" forever. I guess the higher quality file got deleted, but this is my favorite version: ua-cam.com/video/9r-vaJl-jak/v-deo.html If you're reading this, Brother Jamel, maybe you could check it out.
Such an underrated singer
Mike Patton is a wild man Live!
Yessss!!!!!! BRO YOU ARE A STAR!!!!
Faith No more are the shit mate, I am happy they liked your reaction video.
I'm so seeing them live in Washington!
As always a great Mike Patton/Faith No More/All his other Bands - Reaction!
For energy I'd recommend "Faith No More "Collision" Phoenix Festival UK 1997".
Lookin forward to more.
