- The ungentlemanly war. It should be over for Aragon, but here’s how he can still come back. During his daring final charge, Burgundy could have died a hero. But he decided to stay long enough to become the villain, setting off an extraordinary series of events which will push everyone to the absolute limit of what we can endure - especially Italy. The Danubian army will have to come in and sort out the situation.
As Europe descends into chaos, Asia continues to do transfers and the diplomacy in America shifts as a result of the rise of the Arcadian Psycho. Welcome back to this Victoria 2 Divergences of Darkness Multiplayer series.

Is that the kind of player Paradox thought of when they said they wanted Victoria 3 MP to have players use their ''people skills'' ?
This is the paradox (pun unintended) of the Victoria 2 MP community. On one hand people skills are definitely required to be good at multiplayer. On the other hand the base gameplay of Victoria 2 requires at least a healthy level of autism. The result is you either end up with grey eminences like Shark or BigWeevil who can manipulate entire lobbies to their benefit or Sperglords like the Burgundy play here, with very few like Spud in the middle.
He was right though. Elbians were just raging because they got outplayed and it was even conveyed diplomatically.

@@seraphimconcordant It's not that he wasn't right. I think Burgundy had the right idea too. It's that he didn't really say it in a diplomatic way that might have actually gotten Elbians to back off. You don't defuse someone being emotional by saying "get over it." Being good at diplomacy is all about influencing and/or manipulating people to get what you want and Burgundy did the opposite of that.
If Burgundy had been a bit more apologetic about what happened and used the fact that Italy would inevitably be an enemy to Elbians due to alliances, he might have been able to convince Elbians to hold off at least until the Italian war was over.
Pretty cool that Spud was able to get Heath Ledger to come back from the dead and sub in for the Burgundy player
Honestly Burgundy has been attacking smaller countries in like every war so far. In one of his last war, he death stacked to attack Spudgun. They also did legal but dirty move against Italy.
I can see why those wars make everyone frustrated and decide to finally end both nations.
No he hasn’t he’s been getting consistently 3 or 4v2ed since the start of the game and his nation has been dead since the elbians formed and stayed allied to DM and Danubians

27:20 my lord that is NOT a voice line of mine floating around the internet lmao. Also I really did love the last stand in Venice, Crono and I did what we could to win at all. I do think you had a point with me having a good chance in the 2v1 if crono didn't join, although I think this turned out better for Aragon if I would have continued playing. I didn't mostly because I felt bad for lizard considering he had been through even more suffering than I that campaign.
For future reference you absolutely should never feel bad for Lizard. Dude's a terrible person.

@@k1ngmak3r71 I used to run a Victoria 2 discord community and Lizard falsely accused one of my mods, legit one of the nicest and realist dudes, of pedophilia trying to get them run out of the community. It worked. I think you can understand why I don't hold a high opinion of him. In general he's a toxic person that enjoys trolling, manipulating and harassing others for his amusement, and is not someone anyone should ever look at as anything good. The few positive things he does on camera in this series doesn't outweigh the list of awful shit he's done.

Honestly, no regrets. At that point in the game, both me and Aragon felt diplomatically isolated and realized we weren't going to last much longer, thus making it a strange but logical choice for us to ally. When all else fails, doomer blackpills nations can at least rely on each other. I think in the heat of the moment I had genuinely not realized Elbian's truce wasn't supposed to be real but treated it as such, if I had it's hard to say what would've happened, but I will defend that the logic behind the move was sound. By puppeting Italy and then peacing out, Aragon could've finally formed his map, and then maybe we'd be able to turn it around.
Of course the truce being edited out complicated things, so it went from 'we have a chance' to 'fuck it we're both about to die, let's just have fun'. The peace deal ended up being milder than I expected for both of us so it's unfortunate demonade left, perhaps things would've gone differently if he hadn't. That said, I don't think anyone, including myself, expected what's about to go down

I don't think Aragon would've survived much longer past the war, as DM was very much supporting Italy and Spain, and the only chance I had WAS the truce block. But yeah, that last hurrah was fun, and I lasted much longer than I expected. o7 crono

@@SpudgunOfficial I mean part of it was a lack of diplo on my part, but tbh that campaign for me was just suffering. I played both Aragon and Taiping, two nations that were diplomatically isolated and weak. The reason I left though was because I felt bad for lizard, as I don't really play like that often but saw a chance at survival. My plan was to puppet Italy using ticking warscore from the states, but that didn't end up working out so I only took some land. I loved the last stand in Venice, it really showed the power of arty only, and rolls.
Let's be real Aragon and Burgundy were the underdogs, they out skilled you and you guys were SEETHING
Is kinda ironic that all asia is in a giant hugbox so they should be able to just build their economy BUT this mod is completely broken so there is no economy.
They are basically just sitting there watching their pop numbers grow.

@@robert9016 I don't think I played any more of this campaign, except maybe a brief stint on the mongols but that may have been a different campaign. I quit playing the game a couple months ago, a little over a year after this campaign I believe.

Burgundy died so that Aragon could thrive. I honestly want to see them form Aragon-Italy even if Burgundy gets partitioned.
I honestly appreciate the good work both Aragon and Burgundy did on this one. Burgundy made great use of in game mechanichs to try and upset his terrible diplomatic situation, didn't take himself too seriously and played well and as for Aragon he really played his cards right and emerged arguably in a somewhat better position. A shame that he won't continue, for he could've done quite well with some good diplo.

I don't blame Aragon and Burgundy tbh, Spain+Italy were gonna roll Aragon, why get upset when he finds an ally? And with DM, Elbians, Leuuwin and the planned danubian entry, it really does look like a hugbox for this war.
Just to explain what happened in the video.. Aragon didn't simply find an ally, Burgundy truceblocked Spain out of the war so they crushed Italy in seconds. What our whole alliance did after that was try to rectify the truceblock and the force-peacing of Italy, and I was the most necessary because I had direct access into Venice.
The Elbians and Leeuwin had been waiting to attack Burgundy since part 10 for all the reasons that are made clear then. So Burgundy just brought them in to the fray, and they were even more motivated to do so by cheeky truceblocking shenanigans which are often frowned upon (but most players have done it.)
I thought I portrayed and explain the events very clearly, maybe I needed to do a better analysis section
@@IdeegreenTheMagician Italy and Spain would not have crushed Aragon in seconds; they had a brigade advantage, but were fighting offensively into tough terrain. So that point is objectively wrong to start with.
When Burgundy joined, all the people that wanted to dec on Burgundy also tried to join to help our allies. Obviously I've benefitted from moves like this before, but when I do it, I expect my enemy's allies to try and do something about it to prevent me

Edit: I mean multiplayer ofc. Nothing wrong with playing peacefully if you're in singleplayer, but if you play with others you should interact with 'em and engage in conflicts- that's the whole point of multiplayer lobbies.

Aragon and Burgandy were absolute heroes this game. Interesting that Spud uploaded a video of him being the bad guy. He always strives so hard to edit that out.
I think you have it the wrong way round, truceblocks are regarded as bad, so joining a war to save my ally from that would be a good thing. Also I don’t edit things just to make me look good, you’ll see me doing good and bad things across different videos.
Truceblocks are used almost always against an advantaged 2v1 and there are multiple ways to play around them. I’m not saying any side is in the right but countries like burgundy and Aragon need to use them to survive once they lose a war since they will consistently get outscaled and 2v1ed by the countries around them

Burgundy whining about the state of his country like he didn't give half of it away without a fight. I get being bitter after the Elbians backstabbed him, but this was ridiculous. I think Aragon would have actually had a better time of things if he had just done a war with Italy and Spain like last time.

The players in Asia are often a waste of time imo. Their gameplan is like 4/5 just wasting goods and sometime 1/5 participating in a WW lightly.
At least, there should be limitations to this type of hugbox/transfers. This is Vicky 2, not Cities: Skyline.
