After WW1, the US drew up several plans for potential future wars. The plan for war with Britain was called War Plan Red and roughly went "Just invade Canada and they'll give up on the spot". This is all to say that Laith getting upset that his wars don't end because Britain isn't capitulating is actually top tier roleplaying.
I'm pretty sure their plan didn't expect Britain to give up on the spot. It was likely more like "conquer Canada before the British can reinforce, then hold off the Royal Navy until Britain's war exhaustion ticked up too high" That being said it is still a VERY optimistic plan XD
Hilariously, the British equivalent plan for exactly that situation was basically "Let them take Canada and sink their trade ships until we can sort this out diplomatically." So both sides were basically in agreement as to what would happen. Except nobody actually told Canada their plans, so as a result the Canadian plan was "Resist as long as possible at the border at any cost until the British show up to save us". Which... wouldn't have gone well for them.
Hey Laith, the reason the Slave-Free dichotomy was so crucial to Early America was due to the legislature (mainly the United State's Senate). Due to each state having two Senators, and with every new state you had new Senators added to the Senate, a delicate balancing act was created where the people who would inhabit the new state would decide if the state was Slave or Free. Due to the possible "imbalance" in the Senate if one state was added without a compliment from the other side, things were very, very tense politically at this time. This led to Bleeding Kansas, where settlers from the North and South rushed into Kansas to attempt and sway the state's constitution. This then led to basic civil war in the state, where pro-Slavery gangs began to enact violence on the "Free Soilers" trying to prevent the expansion of slavery into the American West. This then led to (in)famous John Brown's involvement in both Kansas and later in the failed uprising at Harper's Ferry, Virginia. Ultimately of course, this led to the American Civil War.
I think texas didn't literally join but was disconnected from union and got forced to join in fact govermor rejected to declare loyalty to confederation so they replaced him.
@makaramuss Texas held a convention on whether to secede followed by a popular referendum. Both voted overwhelmingly for secession.
