I wasn't able to see him at all before he passed and I'm struggling to explain it to our daughter. She just turned 3 about a week after he passed. I know eventually it won't hurt as bad and I'll be able to have the good memories of the last 14 years.

I moved to Georgia when I was 3 and grew up with a Step-father who grew up as a country farm boy of North Georgia in the 50's. My Step-father was such a big part of my life that I called him Dad. Growing up he loved this song by Kenny Rogers and he would sing it all the time. Dad passed away back in 2020. Now every time I hear this song I tear up. You guys did a great job and thank you for giving us this rendition. I just wish I could have had the chance to show my Dad this version.

Sang on a program in the mid- '50s that featured the Buffalo Bills in a school gym in Warsaw, New York. I remember standing in the back with goose bumps and my jaw down to the floor. Kenny was the only known singer I ever met in real life...while I was a kid in a children's hospital in the 70's, he had a bunch of us visit a practice for a local concert. This is the only song I remember from that time, and you know.....I think he would be proud.

Kenny was the only known singer I ever met in real life...while I was a kid in a children's hospital in the 70's, he had a bunch of us visit a practice for a local concert. This is the only song I remember from that time, and you know.....I think he would be proud.
