This is what racial equality should have always been like. There wasn't a moment of racism between them, and when Kenny's baby was born, he went to pick up Lionel and take him for a ride. After a while, Lionel asked Kenny why he wasn't out spending time with his friends. Kenny replied by saying, "YOU are my best friend." Of course history knows Lionel wrote Lady for Kenny, but they shared a friendship closer to brothers than just men. I grew up on Kenny and Lionel and Dolly. I grew up on Whitney and the Bee Gees. I grew up on Mozart and Beethovan and Handel and many other composers, musicians and artists. We all miss you, brother Kenny. I look forward to hearing you again.

I was stunned to learn what close friends Kenny and Lionel were. Lionel took his death hard, and as a fan of both of them, my heart broke for him. We watched the show on CMT last night and it was a nice tribute to Kenny. They had a lot of fun during the 30+ years of their friendship. I think my favorite performance of the night was Dolly singing/playing "Sweet music man". #RIPGambler
Why neither Lionel or Kenny never made it a secret that they good friends. As matter of fact, Lionel wrote the song "Lady" directly for Kenny.

He helped organize Feed Africa We Are The World song & huge talent session event fundraiser with major talents of the 80's. His songs had weekly TV movies. He was in a variety of bands. He even had his own tv show.

You could tell here that they were brothers. Just the way that they jabbed at each other and messed with each other is deep friendship. Makes me think of what me and my best friend growing would have been like when we got older but he was taken too soon by a drunk driver. He was Lionel (jokester) and I was Kenny (serious) and he was the closest relationship I ever had and I will always remember him. He was my brother and just like the video he would have been the one to make me laugh without trying to. RIP Kenny Rogers
