@@dannylightning-audio-reviews I'm with you on Resolve being a pain. I used it for 3 years for a job, and it's not super hard to use, but there are so many different ways to do things, it can seem overwhelming. You can change color spaces at the project level or at the clip level with color space transforms. For color grading, you have log wheels, primary wheels and now HDR wheels, all of which work on both SDR and HDR projects. There's the vertical slider bars and the curves panel plus a bunch more. The thing is that's also what makes it so powerful. You can get an image looking the same by using all curves, all color wheels or a combination of both. It's just really what works best for you and how best you work.
I dont know why are people disliking this so much/ I got premiere and davinci and im researchin about both of the programs to see what i should focus on. this video presents a new perspective that i dont see a lot of people talking about. Great video. Underrated asf.
The has to be my favorite comment. Not because you’re not bashing me but because it helped someone. Thanks for the comment bro! Let me know what you decide on!
Totally agree with you on every point. I’ve done an edit in resolve and it felt like I had a hand tied behind my back. Only thing going for it is it runs so much better than premiere. Adobe constantly push out bugged version and expect us to be the beta testers. I’m kinda sick of it
Any company now and then releases an update, that introduces bugs. The good thing about Blackmagic is, they are very quick to release a fix, that addresses the bug. Like in days or a few weeks. No other software company does this. And if they release a new feature and people like it but they say it would be more intuitive, if Blackmagic changed it slightly, they change it. They are actually listening to their users. The only other place you find this kind of quick changes, is in the realm of Open Source projects. Sure, BM is not perfect, but they do a lot better, than so many other companies.
Bro bro... i used davinci for 2 months and i made 300+ short form videos, I have seen glitches in Davinci too, the most annoying one is your files go offline for no reason, you have to re link the files, there are other glitches too, on my m1 max, i shot a 4k video and when I played it Davinci coulndt play it with out a lot of lag where as premiere runs it smoothly, Premiere loads really slow aand somoetimes have glitches but after switching back to premiere pro i am relieved, i barely power off my mac so premiere pro is always running in the background so no problem with loading time. but man, i switched to Davinci becos everyone said its smooth and sh*t but it was opposite. henley pointed out the points which i agree 100%.
@haxman777 You probably used the free version, without hardware acelleration. Resolve Studio runs way smoother, than Premiere Pro. And I believe tge version 19 free Resolve has had some hardware acelleration added.
All great points! I think people should focus on mastering their workflow instead of bouncing around between software, it definitely lowers your overall efficiency. I use AE and Davinci Resolve in tandem as they both compliment each other well and make up for where the other software lacks. I do hope that Blackmagic updates Fusion to the point where it becomes better for motion graphics so I can drop AE entirely.
@@directorhenley not natively but you can either export your timeline Final Cut XML file and then import that into AE or you can just export the clips and import those into AE to work with.
lmao, video makes for a hot topic for sure. yeah I've come from premiere since 5.0 pretty much the beginning and before that Sony Vegas lol yeah I know going way way back but once Resolve hit wow just flowed so much better, I love speed editing at time depending on the client and my own work and resolve was just on point and rarely crashed. only reason for crashing is I have 4 monitors and having about 20 internet tabs open lol I do a lot plus after effects will cause a system to lock up lol, overall each to his or her own, longs the project gets done. but all the way resolve.
Some nice points but highly subjective. As someone who made the switch 4 years ago, here are my thoughts. 1. Familiarity I think it’s cool to stick with the evil you know but at the same time you shouldn’t be of the mindset to shy away from something new. That’s a good way to stagnate and go obsolete if something newer and better seems too scary for you to try. 2. UI customization is resolve SUCKS It sucks especially when working on vertical videos. You gotta resize instead of move panels. It’s a definitive fact. But you get use to resizing. I did. 3. Media encoder Resolve’s deliver page is essentially media encoder but since it’s one application you can’t go back to editing while you render. Doesn’t bother me to be honest cause I have my cache set to really high quality so the project essentially renders while I work. Once I’m done. I tick “use render cache” in the driver page and I can render a heavy video (VFX, color grade, motion graphics etc) in 5, 10/15 seconds. If I I need to change 10 seconds of the video, I can do that, let it cache in a few seconds and re render the whole 5 minute video in 10 seconds. I don’t feel like I’m missing anything. 4. Plugins More plugins exist for premiere. It’s been around longer, it’s got a bigger consumer base but resolve is definitely on the come up. I see sites have resolve catching up and passing stuff like Final Cut and Vegas in some instances. So it’s making a big impact. Will it ever catch or pass premiere? I dunno. If you need plugins that much then maybe premiere is better for you. For resolve fusion a thing exists that’s called reactor and it’s a plugin to install plugins. Check it out if you ever mess with Fusion or VFX. 5. Color grading This point kinda doesn’t make much sense to me (no disrespect) if the application is the best and the industry standard, I don’t see why colorists who switch would be less productive. I doubt big movie studios would use resolve if it made their artists less productive. Like you said, time is money. I’m no colorist but I switched and I love it. Right now when I do photography I wished Lightroom and photoshop could have colored like resolve. I converted my photos to DNG at one point to test it out. It worked but it’s definitely not optimized for photos 😄. Again, it’s simply about leaning the new tools. Resolve is not premiere so you can’t treat it like premiere. If you take an electric screwdriver and try to use it to manually tighten and release screws, you’re gonna have a bad time.
Awesome points! Thanks so much for your input! As far as the color grading I was referring to people who aren’t colorist. Them switching for the sake of the color grading features when they already aren’t colorists seems like a headache to me. But I do know I need to learn it. I’m gonna start this week I think. But the nodes and stuff is the last thing I’m looking forward too 😭
@@directorhenleybrooooo!!! NODES are effing awesome. When I just switched I was going back to AE for anything motion graphics, VFX etc and with no dynamic link it was hell so I just decided to learn nodes once and for all and lemme tell you. They are MAAAAAAD flexible. It definitely has a learning curve but right now I can comfortably do anything I want with nodes in fusion. A lil shameless plug but a got a few videos my channel to get you comfy with them. As for the colorists thing. I get what you mean. I came to check out the color grading myself and ended up staying for everything else. One day I just uninstalled premiere, (when I was starting a client video 😅) and said hey, it’s sink or swim. Four years later and I’m still riding these resolve waves.
Obviously, this is my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt: 1. Familiarity: Fair point, it takes a long time to switch to a different product. So 100% fair here. 2. Interface customization: I see your point, but it comes down to 1: Familiarity. If you know where everything is, you can work more efficiently. 3. Rendering while editing: Fair point, this is annoying... 4. Plugins: It's fair, only if you're using a lot of plugins obviously. 5. Color Correction: I see your point, but this falls under 1 again. If you're familiar with Resolve and the Color tab, you'd be better off here. Everybody is absolutely free to use the software that checks your preferences. However, definitely if you're using BMD camera's, you will be better off with Resolve in the long term.
Great response!! I know it’s the right choice for me long term for sure. I think the people who are talking negatively or upset aren’t catching what you caught. I’m mostly arguing switching if you’re already using premiere. If someone is trying to figure which to use from the beginning I think it’s fair game then
Bro thank you for being different than EVERYONE on youtube nowadays who are riding the Davinci bandwagon! I'm new to editing and for some reason Premiere just seems easier to use, faster to edit, and idk it just seems cooler and allows us to be more creative. Every time I look this up on UA-cam its all just "why Davinci Resolve is better than Premiere Pro!" and "Why I'm leaving Premiere Pro..." lol. Thanks for having a different take 💪

Resolve is for Color/VFX/ Conforming only. Sure, it's added editing tools but nothing beats Premiere or Avid. The only issue with Premiere is it lacks proper color management, thats really it. Im sure in 10 years it will be as fast and efficient as premiere. It's bizarre that it is modeling its NLE on FCPX which is an app no one uses in a real post pipeline.
Both programs work well and hold unique positions in the industry. Can you show a film made using Premiere? Put aside the silly comparison and focus on improving yourself. You've just made a video for the sake of making one, my friend. This diminishes you and makes you look foolish. I wish you success.
Thank you so much for your comment!! I can for sure show you plenty films edited through premiere as I’m part of a lot of them. I’ve gotten messages from people thanking me for the information and saying it helped them so for that reason I don’t think it’s foolish at all but I appreciate your view for sure
Dude, if you can't switch from one software to another, you're not really a professional. I know people who went from Final Cut 7 to Avid, then to Premiere, and now they're using DaVinci. No excuses.
1oo% on point "#2" I'm fluent in both, but I'm convinced the people who preach "Davinci is better" are people who use the default keyboard shortcuts. I translated all my premiere pro keyboard shortcuts to Davinci and there are some shortcuts that aren't even options in Davinci.
You are clearly trying to get DaVinci Resolve to work as Premiere Pro. That's on you. It's a different software, the work flow is different and you have to adobt to that. You are trying to driving an automatic like it was with stick. It doesn't work that way.
From my experience premiere is better than DaVinci after a lot of time with both of them, more than 3 years, interface is better, proxies system too, advanced export settings and it's easy to change project settings like fps and resolution, audition is better than DaVinci sound effects panel because it's poor and ugly in the same time, so yeah premiere wins for sure

Maybe Media Encoder and plug-ins, but I made the switch in 2020 and never looked back.
That’s what’s up!
Up next, why you should STAY with scissors
I’m kinda sick of it
Ok that part I do understand. I don’t experience too many issues though because I always stay a few versions behind
@@akyhne nope. i bought the fusion. I twaeked the smart render cache and everything.
WAIT WHAT!? You can use ae and Davinci together?
do you render and save the video in AE and then back?
1. Familiarity
I think it’s cool to stick with the evil you know but at the same time you shouldn’t be of the mindset to shy away from something new. That’s a good way to stagnate and go obsolete if something newer and better seems too scary for you to try.
2. UI customization is resolve SUCKS
It sucks especially when working on vertical videos. You gotta resize instead of move panels. It’s a definitive fact. But you get use to resizing. I did.
3. Media encoder
Resolve’s deliver page is essentially media encoder but since it’s one application you can’t go back to editing while you render.
4. Plugins
More plugins exist for premiere.
5. Color grading
This point kinda doesn’t make much sense to me (no disrespect) if the application is the best and the industry standard, I don’t see why colorists who switch would be less productive.
Ok I’m gonna check out your videos and give it a try!
How much d'you get paid by Adobe ? :)
$0.00 at the moment but maybe that’ll change one day 😎
Obviously, this is my opinion, so take it with a grain of salt:
If someone is trying to figure which to use from the beginning I think it’s fair game then
@@directorhenley Absolutely! When you're starting out, it's fair game. But I think Resolve wins flat out when that's the case ;)
Thanks for having a different take 💪
No problem bro! It’s been so reliable for me for a decade so I just don’t understand all of the hate from so many people. Thank you for your comment cause most have been coming for my neck lol
NO thanks :D
Yes thanks 😊
1:57 What??? You can change the size of prticullar window. But ok, you can lie in such a
tendentious video :) All of these arguments have minimal sense for editors. For me the most important is how something works, how fast it works or how it is
reliable. That why I am among this large group of people which switched Adobe for DR and regreat that so late :)
It's like an abused wife choosing to stay with her abusive husband even though the man of her dreams wants to take her away from all that but she's worried he might snore too much the first few nights...
Enjoy your project corruption and software crashes :)
I’ve never experienced that. My system must be better than a lot of people’s cause I hear this a lot on line but me and my friends don’t experience it
after watching this i'm happy I uninstalled premiere dwl
Ok I know you’re gonna probably laugh at me but what does dwl stand for??
@@directorhenley naaa, I think you a loyal adobe person, the real issue with premiere is the freezing, lagging, and crashing it's like having the most beautiful woman that cheats everyday for no reason over a not so beautiful woman that keeps the home together, meets the delaines and you know keeps the house together , premiere issues don't allow me to enjoy the reasons you give.
@@ARVLhq It doesn’t crash on me though. That’s why I understand people who don’t like it for that reason but I’ve never experienced that for some reason
@@ARVLhq that makes sense
Good points were made! 💯
Thanks man! It’s truly how I feel
You should want to challenge your self and grow out of familiarity
The return you will get from over coming that will enter transfer to many other things
True. You’re right! I’m gonna give it a shot for sure
Great video!! I subscribed!! Have a great day bro!! 👊
Thanks for the positivity bro!!
Great video? He use so stupid arguments not the essencials of editing like other
substantives videos about it.
DISLIKED AND REPORTED DON'T RECOMMEND CHANNEL
Liked your comment and pray God gives you many blessings 😊
No excuses.
Not sure I said I can’t. Definitely said I don’t want to lol. But I can see how those two can get mixed up! I’ll switch soon to prove I’m a pro! 💪
NIce video but viwe low
I am social Media markating expart.
I am help with your youtube video firstly grow
1oo% on point "#2"
I'm fluent in both, but I'm convinced the people who preach "Davinci is better" are people who use the default keyboard shortcuts.
I translated all my premiere pro keyboard shortcuts to Davinci and there are some shortcuts that aren't even options in Davinci.
I need to get fluent in both!
You are clearly trying to get DaVinci Resolve to work as Premiere Pro. That's on you.
It's a different software, the work flow is different and you have to adobt to that. You are trying to driving an automatic like it was with stick. It doesn't work that way.
Oh I think you are wrong bro. Tell me which options are you talking about because Davinci has even more editing tools than PP.
🔥🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥
From my experience premiere is better than DaVinci after a lot of time with both of them, more than 3 years, interface is better, proxies system too, advanced export settings and it's easy to change project settings like fps and resolution, audition is better than DaVinci sound effects panel because it's poor and ugly in the same time, so yeah premiere wins for sure
OOOhhhh dude. As a professional sound engineer I must sat Fairligt is way better than AA and even ProTools. And it's not only my opinion :)
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Lol
Completely agree with you
Glad someone does!
His arguments are so stupid and out of editing essencials :)
Good job
Thanks for watching!!
