  • In this episode, Tyr accidentally (?) loses it on an Elf and snaps. After sending Tyr back to Sindri's, Kratos and Atreus decide to explore Alfheim further and help the creature Atreus keeps hearing in the dessert.
    Tyr: There is always a choice. I will not lead you to war. I won't. I'm not that God anymore.. I don't want to fight. But with you three there is no avoiding it. Your path leads to countless deaths, unimaginable pain, and suffering.
    Atreus: Look, Father... Thanks for bringing us out here, but you don't have to do this kinda stuff just to keep my mind off Ragnarök. Ya know?
    Kratos: This was not a distraction.
    Atreus: No? Then why are we really out here?
    Mimir: Have you ever considered? He just wants to spend time with you, lad. While he still can.
    Atreus: Really??
    Kratos: We do not know what lies ahead. But if Ragnarök approaches.. I wish to enjoy the time we have left.
    Atreus: I... I don't know what to say. Thank you?

    We already know Kratos is good with a flute so Atreus playing a lyre would be an interesting duet

    1:30:23 when I think about this it makes so much sense, imagine you know the 'end of the world' is right outside your door, for sure you would want to spend what is left with your loved ones. And in game is the way of Kratos to say 'I love you, son, I care for your wishes and what you love to do and I want to be with you to do it.'
    1:52:42 Tyr: I wish I could do more, I really do
    Kali:No, you really don't!
    😂 made me laugh
    When you learn how to open those locks, make sure to come back to alfhiem, I can tell you're not gonna regret anything about it, I could say the alfhiem secodary quests are the best. And by the way as always good gameplay Kali, keep going!

    1:32:52 and here right here is one of my favourite things they’ve done with Mimir… the story he is referencing is Macbeth, by Shakespeare. It’s so bad nobody names it is a reference to it thought to be bad luck to mention the name Macbeth in a theatre, that you’ll bring bad luck to the theatre company so it’s usually referred to as The Scottish Tragedy. Now this is awesome, but not my favourite thing. But first a small note, I think you may have missed this in the last game as well this one, but there’s a subtle reference to another Shakespeare story, but Mimir is stating it like it’s real, the story referenced is A Midsunmer’s Night Dream, where Mimir is basically saying he’s the character Puck. More on this later. However Atreus’ reaction to the story of Macbeth is key to my favourite combination of myths and reality.
    Atreus says he needs to write these stories down. Mimir tells him he tries, but it’s taking a long time, because he’s just a head… long story short (too late!)…. The devs are basically telling us that not only is Mimir Puck, but he’s bloody fecking William Shakespeare! Or rather the true author of the plays. In my own head canon it takes Mimir hundreds and hundreds of years to write out the stories, and when he’s finished in the late 1500s early 1600s he enlists an actor by name of William Shakespeare to use his as means to get his stories published.

    • @kaliwali
      @kaliwali  Місяць тому +3

      I clearly need to go on a Shakespeare binge. My knowledge of his works are from half listening in AP English high school and I feel sad I didn't realize this reference!

    • @joeb918
      @joeb918 Місяць тому +2

      I am in part a huge English lit and drama theatre geek, it’s in my blood at this point; with that in mind, if you ever set up a tv/movie reaction channel I would subscribe so fast with all the Shakespeare (and many other things) recommendations and fun facts!

    • @mena10ss
      @mena10ss Місяць тому +2

      This is a pretty awesome detail I didn't know about! I also love how they tied in the 2018 reference of Mimir constantly repeating "Baldur is blessed with invulnerability to all threats... physical or magical" to this story. You can hear in their voices how much Kratos and Atreus got tired of him repeating it XD

    • @joeb918
      @joeb918 Місяць тому +2

      @mena, it works nicely with the story of Macbeth as well, so it was a nice tie in indeed. That’s the thing about myths and Shakespeare, he pulled a lot of his story inspirations from tales already known and recycled stories from various sources that existed before him and also there are basically only so many themes that consistently get retold the world over, we’ve been telling the same stories and themes since we’ve started telling stories throughout all our collective examples of lit and myth.

    Regarding a “juicy nokken”, unfortunately we are left to our own devices imagining what Brok did or what this act is that got him banned. Given Brok’s comments in the last game, he had guessed that we came from Alfheim and the smells coming from us tipped him off, stirring up his memories about all the “swearing and fecking” involved, it was probably something deviant with some amourus adventures with some Elfen partners, on both light and dark sides.

    • @odinez7010
      @odinez7010 Місяць тому +2

      At the very least you'll learn what a nokken is...

    • @joeb918
      @joeb918 Місяць тому +2

      True… but I’m sad we didn’t get a definitive answer as to what they were referring to exactly here. Reminds me of Uncharted series, one of the characters references so many “amourous acts” I’m surprised they got away with them with the age rating those games have.

  • @MAORISMURF20
    @MAORISMURF20 Місяць тому +3

    Great job with the Alva fight, Kali. You were nailing those parries!
    As for Tyr's reaction to all the killing - I see him as a pacifist, likely an ABSOLUTE Pacifist. One who values life above anything else, so much so that they don't even condone killing in self-defense. It's definitely an interesting way to portray a 'God of War' - making them someone who is 100% against war of any kind. It also makes Tyr, understandably, annoying to deal with sometimes lol...
    A place to look at trinkets you've collected along the way? Yes, there is! Check around inside Sindri's house when you're back there :)
    FYI that axe hold R2 attack (ensare?) is cool because you can throw caught enemies at other enemies just by looking their way. I used it a lot to also throw enemies off of cliffs for an easy kill :P

  • @M1_Maz
    @M1_Maz Місяць тому +1

    The feeling of getting to explore the desert with Kratos and Atreus after Tyr finally leaves, is the same feeling getting to hang out with your real friends after the one "friend" who invited themselves finally goes home 🤣
    Also, the reason you didn't see the frozen flame you picked up is because of a weird bug in this game: When you beat a boss or big enemy that drops a bunch of high value loot, if you pick it all up quickly, naturally the game displays them on screen one at a time. But if you enter your menu at any time during that process, it continues to display them as if you weren't paused in the menu, so it all gets missed. What worked for me was either picking things up one at a time, or just waiting until everything displayed before going into the menu.
    Also also, your parrying was ON POINT today. And on a lot of enemies with tricky parry timing too. Well done 😁

    15:11 Kratos saving his son from drowning. This is about as close to a tribute as this game gets to a man named Shad Gaspard and if you don't know that name it's okay, I'll explain. Shad Gaspard used to be a professional wrestler with WWE when that career ended, he became an actor/stuntman. One project that he worked on was the 2018 God of War, doing motion capture fighting for Kratos and they even used scans of Shad's body for the character model of Kratos.
    In the spring of 2020 after the pandemic lockdowns had been lifted, Shad took his wife and his son who was 10 years old at the time to the beach to go swimming in the ocean near their home. When in the water with his son they both got caught in a riptide current that was pulling them out to sea. A lifeguard saw them in distress and went out to attempt to rescue both. The lifeguard was approaching Shad when he started yelling at the lifeguard, "Get my son! Save my son!" The lifeguard was able to secure the boy, but before he could get back to Shad a wave crashed over him, and Shad was pulled under the water. The lifeguard was unable to relocate him, and search and rescue was called. The boy was saved but Shad's body wasn't found until two days later.
    RIP Shad Gaspard. "Did what every father should do. Protect his child." -Kratos God of War 3.
    WWE did a few great tribute videos for Shad Gaspard. Links are below: And also honored him with their Warrior Award during a Hall of Fame Ceremony a few years ago.

    Don’t know if you picked up on it, but the story that Mimir told about the Thane and the Witches’ prophecy is actually the plot of Shakespeare’s play Macbeth. And of course, we already know from the previous game that Mimir is also Puck, or ”Robin Goodfellow”, from Shakespeare’s other play A Midsummer Night’s Dream. And when Atreus suggests that Mimir should write these stories down, it implies that Mimir is actually the real author of Shakespeare’s plays! Really funny I think!

    That rond u got (13:25), about the blue ring attacks, also says 'when parrying'...make sure you read the description fully.
    Theres alot of secret gameplay secrets most people dont know about.. like, i dont know if i commented this on one your previous videos but when u press R3 to stun grab youre invincible until the animation finishes. Youre invincible when you parry too, parrying in the middle of a combo wont stop your combo and your next attack will be the next part of the combo like nothing happened.
    The next main mission is long as f*** so be prepared, most people think its kinda dull & boring but ill leave that to you to experience yourself...

    Eating dinner and tuning in. Your questions about Tyr are on the right track. Just don’t forget them, all will be revealed eventually. Just don’t forget his reactions and how he spoke when he was in the shrine. When all is revealed go back and watch and give is your retrospection on everything. Especially with how he reacted to what was seen.
    Alva I rage quit the game during that fight for like 2 hours because I couldn’t beat her to standard I had for my self (by not taking too much damage and parrying her perfectly). I couldn’t get the parry’s down for when she threw her blade at you. And on higher difficulties she does it three times consecutively. She kicked my butt so many times. It felt wonderful to beat her.
    Tyr had to drag her for the light crystal to create a bridge for them to walk on. Also to your statement “I thought by seeing Groa’s prophecy he would of become more like himself.” Please do not forget that. It’s so keen to later on in the game.
    That I place in the barrens where the grim were in the the mouth of that dead large skeleton, was so hard for me as well. I had to turn the difficulty down just to get through it.
    And from Kratos and Atreus commentary. We can see that Kratos just really wants to spend time with his son. So much that he’s gone out of his way to lead the search toward locating a hurt animal with Atreus just to do so. It’s not as it was with his daughter. He spent more time being the General of an army. Then being Ares weapon of destruction. Now he’s able to spend close and personal time with his child something he didn’t get to do before. Death has no hold over Kratos “literally.” Letting his son go is where it will hurt the most.
    Tyr’s statement to Atreus where he says “this vision of me in your mind, where I’m as good as Odin is evil? The truth is often more complicated. To imagine it simple is dangerous.” These statements will ring true later on so please don’t forget these either.
    He isn’t wrong. Again Atreus need to see the good and bad in things can cloud judgment and can leave him to be manipulated. As we know these beings are multifaceted and multidimensional. They aren’t definite in nature of being good and bad. Atreus can’t necessarily help it though because of all the wrong doings he’s heard of Odin doing. That’s already placed Odin as being an evil person and rightfully so. But when it comes to Tyr he can’t outright see him as inherently good either, even tho all we know of him are the good deeds and how he strived for peace.

    It was the poem of Illiad ( Troy ) which Kratos mentioned to Mimir when he asked of his favourite poem🤗🤗🤗🤗

    In God of War (2018), there's two essential Mimir boat stories I think we never caught in your playthroughs before you continue.
    1. Mimir explains that once Jormungandr first saw Atreus, he said that Atreus looked familiar because Jormungandr has been through Ragnarok before. His battle with his lifelong enemy Thor can be heard through the nine realms and shook so Yggdrasil so violently that Thor knocked Jormungandr back in time, even before his own birth, which Kratos and young Atreus was surprised to hear.
    2. Hrimthur, son of Thamur and builder of Asgard's walls once wanted an audience with Freya and once wagered a deal that if he built the walls in time, then he could marry Freya. Once he completed it in time and knew the gods would double-crossed him (cause his father's death and distrust in giants), he wanted only to whisper something in Freya's ear and smiled cause his plan is complete.
    (Also, I'm sorry for texting so much on your channel. I'll try to do that less.)

    Didn't you think that they found Tyrr too easily, and guarded him too simply?And how did the dwarf just betray Odin by giving them a clue where to look for Tyrr?
