Gow 2018 doesn’r go into the why Kratos has the blades of chaos instead of the blades of exile. A comic called “Fallen God” (which takes place post gow 3) shows that Kratos tried many times to get rid of the blades of chaos, but they would return to him after waking up from slumber. My guess is that it’s a curse that keeps him from disposing the blades

of all long running game franchises the fans of God of War impress me most. very rarely does someone spoil something and somehow I have yet to see anyone reveal the return of his blades. it's always satisfying watching that entire sequence from Kratos saying he needs to return home up until the combat with them.
I do feel bad for those who started the GoW games with the 2018 game; they can try to imagine the emotional weight of the boat scene, but never understand it totally. (And even if they started to play the older games after this one, you can have just one first time reaction to that scene.) I'm so glad you got to feel it at its fullest.
I definitely would've enjoyed it more if I played the originals first, but the game still entered my top 5 after playing it. Didn't take away from the experience too much

You know what is, I’m sure, the _worst_ part, to Kratos, of picking up those Blades again? How _good_ it must feel. I imagine it just like when Harry repaired his own wand at the end of Deathly Hallows. How wand and hand both felt like they were tingling with joy at being reunited. Imagine that here. To sink his godly power into the Blades so intertwined with him, to feel life return to them from himself as their flames flair up for the first time in so long…seeing the way he runs his fingers along them before putting them on, the way his hands shake…I’m sure it just feel incredible, physically. And I can’t imagine how much worse that makes it.
My favorite bit about that scene with Modi when Kratos goes into Spartan Rage is that despite taking Modi's mace, he drops it to use his FIST instead bro
The difference in atmosphere in this game after Atreus falls ill is crazy mad! And Matis reaction is priceless! I must’ve watched the boat scene after Kratos takes Atreus to Freya more than a dozen times. Pure brilliance
Blades of Chaos were created by and powered by primordial fire. Power that exceeds all gods in time. The fire was pemanently attached to Kratos together with the blades and that is why he can not get rid of them like the other blades like say Exile. He lost all of his weapons at the end of GOW 3 when he killed all the gods and released their power alongside power of hope to the world. The weapons were destroyed as they were powered by those godly powers from Olympians that Kratos absorbed. Except for Blades of Chaos. They outdate even the gods and are channeling power from primordial fire of the universe. The blades being attached to him is like another bodypart that he cant get rid of. Whatever he does with them, they will come back to him.

Also a game I like thats kinda similar to the GOW games is Asuras Wrath, you can get it on PS3 (now that you have one). I dont think its AS good but I always enjoyed it, might be worth checking out.
"This is like a FromSoft boss" is spot on, you have to die a few times to learn her attack patterns and how to dodge/parry/block. The fact that it took a valkyrie to force you to learn to lock on and parry, on GMAC, is completely insane. Good job getting her on the 8th try though, those things are stupid difficult. That said, I cant wait till you find out she's the easy one 😉
We are so back! Just wanna let you know if someome hasn't already blue arrows are mainly for stun, yellow for damage, and honestly, yellow murder of crows were my go to for a while lol, mega damage. And yes, yellow arrows would have helped way more in the Valkyrie fight, cause they really don't take stun....
If you think this Valkyrie is nuts, just you wait till the last one. Most epic battle if I ever did see one. Took me 3 hours I think. There is little room for error and you have to learn every way to avoid getting hit. You're gonna love it.

You know it's been a while since we did a horror season and if you will do one after finishing with god of war I higly suggest you to play resident evil 4 remake since you have played the original long ago. I'd say playing the remake would be amazing
Hey Mati, just a combat tip for the axe. When you do Pride of the frost (Tapping R2 combo finisher) you can instantly quickturn out of the attack once it lands, making the combat much faster

So the Valkyries begin honestly the best part of the game for me a good old fashioned 1v1 boss fight really forces you to use everything you have to defeat her as well. Pro tip - make sure you pay attention to the move sets itll help you in the long run trust me 😆
This was my first god of war. Honestly, I regret not playing the first 3 first. I had played with my friend who was a huge fan and witnessing his reaction made me understand the greatness of it.
Personally i can’t imagine why anyone would play this game without either playing, or watching a story summary of the trilogy first. This whole game gets two times better by knowing what Kratos used to be. These moments that you just experienced in these episodes would lose most of their weight.
Tho as someone who did play these games without having played or knowing anything about the story of the original. The way the scene was done still gave me chills and made me hyped. Would have been way more hyped if I had played the OG games but even without it, it's still a great scene

imo doing some of the less exciting side quests off camera and just showing us what you got could be cool and it would make the combat less exhausting bc you’d be doing more damage with your new gear

And also, don't forget that you can completely refill your health bar just by activating a mystic gateway. You don't have to actually use the gateweay. Couple of things tho... when you add a text comment to your video, please keep it on the screen longer cuz they always disappear too quickly before I can read them. And also, don't forget that you can completely refill your health bar just by activating a mystic gateway. You don't have to actually use the gateweay. You just need to activate it and it will completely refill your health bar at any time. Peace out bro! 😙
