Imagine my surprise when I took apart my $30 keyboard and found it actually had foam in it! It was pretty thin and didn't seem to be doing much so I put in another layer and the difference in the sound is night and day! Thanks to videos from you, Switch and Click, Squashy, and others, I got the confidence to do this very simple mod and it's such a big difference, so thank you! (now I need to lube the stabs and do something about the spacebar..)
gmk67?
@@rinnoX1 Tezarre TK61..which is usually on Amazon for like $30 (or was, I think it's mostly sold out these days, but th TK63 is around the same price). I didnt expect it to have some foam in it at all for that price. It had case foam and even some plate foam (which I didn't mess with). Boards have a lot of decent features these days even at the really low end. Hot swap, some foam, easy to mod..for $30!
You need confidence to disassemble a keyboard i need a valid reason to even bother we are not the same
if that board had an f row it would be perfect
Definitely, no f row is kind of a deal breaker
Idk know how people's can live without F row.
For me 60 and 65% should be a dead format. Even for gamers, if you do not Plan to ONLY play FPS for the next 10 years the F row it's often used
THAT’S WHAT I’M SAYING
What do you use the f row for? I know people use it for MMOs but I don't play MMOs so I've only ever used the F row to refresh a web page or going full screen.
@@soulsiey volume control and hotkeys
I love the little screen on my Meletrix Zoom75. This may sound silly, but it has a little notepad where I can keep reminders about hotkeys to applications I use and the like, which is huge for my old and senile brain. I also like being able to display my CPU temp when I'm gaming to ensure that I don't have problems with my cooling setup.
I'm really looking forward to the next Meletrix, the Zoom98. I hate group buys, but every one that I've been part of with Meletrix has gone really well, so I can't really complain too much.
Great vid as always man!
Been looking for a 100% (or as close to as possible) and have found the Zoom98 GB, would you recommend this or any other full(ish) sized instead?? Cheers
I am using this keyboard rn. Modded it a little bit. But all I can say is that the switches will determine this keyboards potential since you can't play around it too much since it already has like 70% of the keyboard mods should have and I love it honestly. I can put my Gifs but the software is rly not that good tbh. I hope they'll improve it :)
hey have you got some recommendations for switches? im using pre lubed gateron yellows and i love them but im interessted if there are better ones. im tbh only using it for rythm games so if there are special nice switches do you know them? and also did your shadow x also come with pre lubed stabilizers?
@cyberdsrswitch4658 I got the flamingo switch version of the keyboard and it sounds great
My day always gets better when Hipyo Tech posts :)
Yeah
good job hipyo, very nice video!
Hi hipyo! your content is great!
Today's budget boards run circles around my sorry attempts to build keyboards and for much $$$ less. That said, I have figured out how to make my keyboards work for me (maybe a little bit of sunk cost fallacy). Well, always nice to see things continuing to move forward.
The final sound test was great
I really like the styling on this one. The color scheme and caps are really nice. Tho I need a full-size board.
The Langtu LT104 might be the keyboard for you.
Nice video! And it seems like a good enough board.
As for the screen, I have a Steelseries Apex Pro that has a similar screen and I almost never use it.
It's only useful in the rare cases I want to check some keyboard setting because we're usually not looking at the keyboard when gaming or working.
Still a cool gimmick to show to your friends.
I did like the sound of the board, tho.
Keep it up! 🔥
Usually what I look for in a keyboard is just aesthetics but also durability. You can't imagine the pain of grabbing a fresh new keyboard, only for the keys to start dying after the first month. I can't trust Hyper X for this reason because my friend got me this keyboard and the D key on it is dying, having used A and D for my rhythm game of choice, osu. Now I need a whole new keyboard because Hyper X decided it was a good idea to cut the cost of making the switches actually durable instead of having a decent switch that I can come back to when it finally gives out about 5 years later when I accidentally yank the cable too hard.
I enjoy the little pop of yellow
Howdy hey hipyo tech! i want to ask have you ever tested the Ajazz Ak816 Pro ? It sounds nice on others tests and im considering buying it unless you have a better advice for around my 120 bucks (it was one sale)
You going to review the 8bitdo keyboard? I really hope so. I got one and I am curious what you think about it. I did foam mod mine. Getting the back off is not easy but can be done using an isesamo as a pry tool. Also you have to remove the glued on feet to get to the screws which is annoying but overall I don't think it's bad for the price.
Hi Hipyo, love your videos. What’s the name of the background music you tend to use at the beginning of your videos? The music that starts at 0:02?
I do my first mecanical keyboard and was working good and i was freaking happy about it until today, idk but now have some inverted keycaps like the keycaps of ( backspace ) with the keycaps of ( \ ) and the keycaps of going for ( desktop ) and the keycaps of ( ALT ) I will appreciate the help.
I bought my TH80 for $65 and modded the absolute crap out of it, and now sounds better than a stock keychron Q1 now
edit: also, the plastic cover on the TH80 had the plastic edges extending too far down and making contact with the PCB and giving the board almost no flex, so one of the things I had to do was cut all the unnecessary plastic off.
I just do not know how I would fare with a keyboard without the function keys. But it fits my budget. I might ask Jeff B. to send me one, and return it two weeks later, just to try it out.
Hipyo (5:14): "I didn't mention it before, but this board is gasket mounted."
Me: 0:23.
Essential for every keyboard for me would be a few programmable layers, the option of a 3-split space-bar and sound versions to choose from or the manufacturer should at least inform buyers about the sound profile (thocky, clicky, clacky, or creamy).
hi i got a good question. what if your keyboard date and time is not accurate or accidently been reset without u noticing. how would u fix the issue?? how to set the date and time back?
hello! can you make some video explaining the different kinds of plate, foams and which is better and what does other mod do
ive been saying this for months now but PLEASE try white school glue inside modifier keys. it really helps!
You need to do the A98 pro II please (and the budget version non pro for only 110)
This is so cool! :o
The Langtu LT84/LT104, the Attack Shark K86 and the Xvx m87 pro are some keyboards with similar features and a f row, however they aren't the best quality.
could you do a review on the 8 bitdo mechanical keyboard? i want to see what you think about it.. lol i value you and Badseedtechs' reviews more than anyone on this platform
i need to get this ty hipyo tech so much
This feels like a diffrent editing style, did you hire a new editor?
Hello Hipyo, can you try to mod the Glorious GMMK 2 soon? I have a modded GMMK 2 and i still want to learn more and if its possible to make it a bit softer, i also used scotch tape because someone used it and i like the softer noise.
i just picked up an epomaker x feker galaxy80 kit for my first custom keyboard build with some princess switches and abs sailor moon caps (i could only find the caps in abs sadly but favorite show and yeah it just needs sailor moon key caps lol)
I have a dude Im a gamer but I want my keyboard to sound good I consider epomaker ek68,shadow x and yz75 wich one is better or other recomendations for around 100$ dolars
When doing the tempest mod I often use 5 layers of tape, it makes the keyboard very poppy and thocky
Hey Hipyo can you make a video tearing down the rk61 plus and how to mod it
65% + Arrow and Nav cluster is just FRLTKL (F-row less tenkeyless). Sure this one is wonky with the knob but that’s it.
Review the dareu EK871 it's a 70% keeb with good keycaps and sounds good even without moding it 😀
Can you do a video on a budget 100% keyboard?
So i also have a shadow x but never experienced any rattle with the stabilizerz or any sound problem with the switches. idk if you maybe got a faulty version or sum. i only switched to a new keycap set and now it sounds and feels amazing. maybe its because i got my switches and stabilizers pre lubed
I've the same keyboard and I've never noticed any rattle or sound problems I also have flamingo switches which are so nice .
i love ws morandi they are the best cheap switch
Hey Hipyo, what are the grey with yellow accemt switches called?
Absolutely love your videos - I've been watching them every day for about 2 weeks now!
But I still can't decide which one to get for myself so I'm going to be waiting for your next giveaway 🙈
Cool, the budget-but-decent is the most magical word. :-)
God bless.
Nice video
Hipyo review nuphy halo 75 and what mods should go with it
Can you review Akko SPR75 if its worth it?
Can you review the keychron C3 pro?
I have a challenge for you
Get a cheap membrane keyboard (preferably the Bugha keyboard)on convert it into a nice sounding mechanical one you can change key caps if you want to
Is it even possible to convert a membrane into a mechanical? If possible sounds like it's going to be a lot of soldering
Wish you could get one that sounds like this without modding it snd cost an arm and a leg!!
Already got my perfectly setup Keychron Q1. I just need the name of the pen in the thumbnail 😂
Hipyo can you try to mod the Cosmic byte CB-GK-34 with otemu red switches, its hotswap with 3pin or 5 pin and its per key rgb. Love your videos, thanks.
I'm not gonna lie, I like the more.. darker.. silent sound :D I building myself a silent keyboard and I love it so far xD (but I'm not done yet)
I'm new and am looking to build my 1st board, but am pretty overwhelmed by the amount of information ^^"
Does anyone have a recommendation for a good barebones kit? What I'm looking for:
white - 2.4Ghz Wireless - aluminum preferably - anything from 65 to 80% - RGB - hot swap - preferably ISO, but ANSI also works - Budget is up to 250€ for the entire build
options I am considering rn are the Zoom75 (if it's even possible to get), Akko 5075B Plus, Royal Kludge M75
also close to giving up and just buying a Deathstalker v2 or Roccat Vulcan Mini Air should they be on sale :´)
I hope this manufacturer brings QMK/VIA version of their keyboard's, then my EK68 would be perfect, as build and feel are good.
Not likely. AKKO, Royal Kludge, Epomaker, etc don't tend to do such things.
Make a review about Royal Kludge M75 and Epomaker TH80-X, Hipyo :3
Hipyo do a ranking to a Beginner ... Budget - Mid - Pro 🙏
Where us the pageup key on that keyboard? Or you cant do it?
Does anyone have a good recommendation for a good thocky or easily moddable 75% keyboard with a QWERTZ Layout? :)
Can any1 tell me if WS red switches world performer similarly to Morandi in terms of smoothness? I like heavy switches, morandi will be way too light for me...
Honestly, the LCD screen is in such a spot that I would ignore that I wouldn't even use it. Ideally though it would be as wide as the width between 4 and 8 on a TKL and the height of two R1s, so it would actually be useful for anything I would put on there. From battery life status, a clock, a goofy animation in the style of old pinball machines, and so on.
That said, the keyboard would also cost $400 or I'd have to be forced to use Logitech-proprietary switches and software. Blech.
Hi Hipyo 👑
Fixed my spacebar on my rk m75 with bandage mod.
Please make a video on the gmk67
Review sugar65 plz
I'm always surprised by folks who may complain about keyboard cases being made out of plastic under one video, but at the same time literally spending over $400 for plastic keyboards such as Moonlander, Glove80, and Kinesis 360 😂
Those are supposed to be ergo keebs and they are expensive because of that. Not because of the materials used.
Maybe the Mode Envoy would be a better comparison. But again, the Envoy uses a CNC PC case that is much better than ABS plastic.
I'm not trying to say this board is bad, but there's usually good reasons for a keeb to be more expensive than others.
On that note: I managed to get the Moonlander to sound a lot better by putting PE foam in the case, tape modding the PCB, adding Poron switch pads and using Gateron Milky yellows instead of the cherry browns it shipped with. Also portability is a factor with this keyboard, so making it with aluminium might have not been the best choice.
Kilmat is back :D
Can you check out the RK r75?
Ngl, I'm not too keen on prebuilts anymore but this one looks really nice. I could care less about the mounting style, since this feels like something I would leave on display somewhere.
Bro I have the shadow x from Amazon and I can choose the switch’s
Anyone knows a bluetooth mechanical keybpoard that doesnt go above the 80-100 € mark thats decent for gaming? i honestly feel that almost any mechanical keyboard will be better than the membrane i have rn, and i will only have it for 2 years or so until i can get a custom one, so there is no need for a really good one, just one that is decent enough, with a decent bluetooth response time. pls give me recommendations. Ty for readin :)
Yo when is the beach mouse pad gonna release
It stealth released hipyo-shop.fourthwall.com/products/coastal-retreat-desk-mat
is this keyboard for typing only...?
What were they thinking with that ridiculous knob? Serves a function that should have been a button/switch or at least behind a press toggle on a volume knob, and you'd have to be a grade A nihilist to put a knob on the home cluster but keep the insert instead of the pgup
Also, loved the screen
Hi hipyo
Sad that the knob has this functions, besides that, It's a great budget keeb.
try the akko dracula castle keybboard
Why the F row missing? like WHY?
I would put "Great job Nola" on the screen
hipyo please do another mystery box vid!
Can you please review Mk1300 mini and upgrade it please I beg you please 🙏🙏
Hipyo i just wanted to let you know i won drop mt3 cyber keycaps a giveaway of yours in January 2022 and still haven't put them on a board. I'll get an ID 80 v2 for them some day 😂
im purchasng rn
Someone is going to be running Doom on that tiny screen in no time
What kind of cursed layout is that? TKL minus the F-row plus extremely weird knob position
Video 7 of asking him to review a alt customs keyboard
why u keep showchase keebs on Nola's bed
Can you mod the screen
Hipyo, my good friend, please review the new 8bitdo retro keyboard! Like please, so he can see it! I need a review, Hipyo!
redragon k617 fizz review
ive been asking fo this for awhille XD. budgerigar switches best
Make a video a phantom elite +
I want that desk mat
link in desc
Fanks! ❤️
Let’s have a knob!
- But we’ll lose one important key!
Doesn’t matter, knobs are the cool new thing!
- Will it be a proper rotary encoder?
No! Just a glorified button!
- But Sir …
DO IT!
🤣
Nice to have the modes at an easy location... but ugh. On the side or back is fine. A volume knob... naaaaaaaaaaa
good video
I came to this video for the howdy hey.
Hey hipyo, By the way you forgot to say about the alternatives to the board or I’m an idiot
I briefly mentioned it - there aren't any with a screen at this price point but the womier s-k71 is $5 more and better for just typing
Hate when those knobs are on the wrong setting
Cool
