      Sorry but slots is a poor choice. I know it’s not ‘real’ gambling but it’s a short step to sliding into the real thing and developing a bad habit that can ruin your life. Especially when a person has any addictive tendencies. Like hoarder.

    I absolutely LOVE how Dani says the clothes are smaller/bigger than her instead of just saying she is to big/small for the clothes.

    Dani, I've only just started the video so I'm sorry if this info isn't helpful. When I decluttered I sold a bunch of bags and some clothes online. In the end I lost patience with the process and took what was left (6 carloads) to a women's shelter. It helped me to let go and know that everything is going to help women who sometimes arrive with nothing but the clothes on their back. I liked doing that much more than just dumping things at Goodwill. Thought I'd throw this out there in case you end up with things that don't sell, or decide to just get rid of it all in one go. =)

      I give a minimum of 15 things away per week..pillowcases..pens..a chair..clothes..My goal is downsizing 3 three furnished bedroom homes... This has been a 2 year project Ultimately I want to fit in a studio

    • @gwenellison5386
      @gwenellison5386 9 місяців тому +14

      @@Joce123 Your goal is very similar to what mine was/is. I moved from a 3 bedroom house to a 2 bedroom apartment (i had kids with me) . Now my eldest is about to move out which will just leave me here. My goal 3 years ago when I started to declutter was to minimize my own things down to a point where I could pack the whole place up in a weekend if I were to move. I'm almost there but not quite. Once my son moves out it'll be easy to get rid of the last bits.

    • @sarahq8728
      @sarahq8728 9 місяців тому +13

      I think that’s the point of getting the house sorted asap, to have a place to sort the school supplies and flexing the decluttering muscles.
      (Finish what was started, feel secure in home space through big life changes)
      But also to help Danni through the process of selling to get her extra cash which she could use but also she won’t know if she’s willing to make the decision to let go anyway until she faces it and the tedious annoyance of selling online 😅
      I’ve been through the same thing and until you make the decision yourself you can’t learn the lesson to let go but once you’re there, it feels soo freeing to let go and give the items a chance to have a second life 😊

I tried to sell a chair on fb marketplace and couldn’t deal with the idiots who couldn’t read the measurements or the twenty messages I got asking me “what color” it is, when you could look at the picture. So kuddos for you for willing to go through this.

    Selling stuff online is hard work. I found that the photographing was the easy bit. It was all the packing up and posting that made me decide, after a few sales, that it wasn't worth my effort. That was awesome progress today, however. I hope Dani makes a lot of money.

      I watched Peeling Away the Clutter and she sent a lot to Thredup. In the end, she didn't get much money. Then again, the clothing looked like it was mostly fast fashion and cheap leggings. Definitely would recommend donating or recycling (if that is an option where you live) instead of having it clutter up the living room for weeks longer.

    When selling, bundling can really help. A lot of people are so busy the appeal of a bundle is so convenient. I recently sold 5 high quality sweaters for 100 dollars. The buyer was thrilled and loved everything and I was so relieved I got a good fee while only having to send out one box. Sometimes selling everything individually is the really mentally taxing part. I also donated a bunch of items I didn't want to sell to a women's shelter and I know they went to good use.

    This was EXTREMELY HELPFUL! I will NEVER sell things this way! I have a two weekend garage sale every spring and fall.(last of the four days,everything is half price.) My friends donate to me instead of Goodwill and I make $1000.00 EVERY TIME. I load up my mini van after the final Saturday afternoon and then donate it all to the Humane Society Thrift Store the next day. (They love that it’s all priced and organized.) COMPLETE CLOSURE!🙌🏻 (Side benefit,my garage gets cleaned and organized twice a year.) I also understand why others do THIS method and NOT have a garage sale. (I wouldn’t do it either if I didn’t have a two car garage,tables,signs,racks,shelves,etc.,all tightly tucked away so that our two cars are inside the rest of the time.)

    Dani I am watching this as I am decluttering my house, I have sell pile as well but I was able to find a local consignment store I plan to bring my stuff to so then I don't have to figure out prices, store it and deal with potentially not getting what I feel like I should have for it. Maybe this would be an option for you. I do realize there may not be one in your town but maybe there is something in another nearby town or a place you plan to visit for vacation or something

    I'm just now realising Dani's décor is eclectic and maximalist - neither of which I think she ought to change at all! I just mean that the more you pare away the extra the more Dani's space comes into focus. I honestly missed the entire wall of plants until well into this video - once I 'saw' them I started to look around and see other deliberate choices and aspects of Dani's home which I'd honestly missed completely. Also, Dani has impeccable fashion taste - I would have loved to have snapped up a few of her items.
    Heh! I had a giggle when you said we needed to get Dani's kitchen sorted so she could do more baking - I stand fully behind that - the more sweet goodies to be had with coffee the better.

I’d just take to the charity shop….. that way I don’t have the hassle of them, and they get either the money from selling them, or the money from sending to fabric recycling. I have a monthly budget for “donating to charity” so I would just count that month as donating clothes. However I’m in the lucky position of not “needing” the money, if I was in a different financial position maybe I would feel differently! Thank you for this video, I now know I don’t want to resell online. I’m a donating or give away on fb kinda gal, maybe even consignment. This is a next level of patience my brain can’t take. 😂❤😊

    Hi Dani, don‘t know your preferred style, but you definitely would look very good in these more elegant black and white patterns. In general: Elegant clothes make you shine - one can see that while you hold the clothes in front of you one by one. :)

    And are you sending clothes out or selling and processing yourself? I guess I’ll see but curious. I thought you just send to these places and they take pics.

    What I learned from this is that I am in a mood of I want it gone!!!! This may be in response to the large volume but I am beginning to think that my problem with keeping momentum going is that I sort into boxes.
    I have a large collection of glass and china that is packed away from moving. I know most will think this a terrible idea but I want to put those boxes in storage. Then there’s room to organize everything else. I can then get that glass back here when there’s room to really go through it and seriously reduce my collection. Thoughts on a better way?

    • @desertsky505

      Do whatever you think is going to work for you. We have to find our own way. You can put all the glass in China in a storage unit and pay for that for however long you want. You can rent a storage unit for one month and set up tables. You can have all of your boxing packing and taping supplies. Sort it out in the storage unit. Keep what you're going to keep and let go of the rest. Sometimes running a storage unit as a workspace makes your home life more manageable. I don't want to live with heaps and stacks and boxes of things all over the place in this process. And I don't want to be continually resorting things from bags to boxes and then from boxes to bags and then from the bags back to boxes. I think that's crazy

    only problem is the ending. what , was that 30 min. you are kidding. keep it coming it feels so good. I have 2 weeks to a swap meet. packed an ikea bag full. I find good things and get rid of my clutter. the best thing is that a lot of people who cant even afford the charity shops come here.

    It always helps me to send my clothes to a service that offers a fixed price for each item. I check whether they accept an item, pack all items into a box and attach the prepaid label. The service I use in Germany is Momox. Yes, you don´t get that much money. But you get some money and the clothes are out of the apartment.
