The silvery solenoid in the battery compartment where the positive terminal is connected is the power cut-off solenoid. It is activated by positive supply from ignition switch. You can bypass it by connecting the battery terminal directly to the other end where a similar heavy gauge wire is connected.
Jacob did a great job of finding all sorts of camera angles which took us right into the action. This project required lots of work and patience from all of you.
A simple test with the voltmeter to see if power is coming out the other side would tell the tale. This ain’t that difficult…… I’m guessing that jumper was to activate the cut-off solenoid….
Technically guys, you didn’t fail, it ran, just not for very long, it definitely ran. I’d count it as a win. Always a pleasure to watch you two trying to resurrect old iron. Thank you.
I don't know about you but watching these vidio's makes me want an excavator but I absolutely don't have any use for one or a place to park it. Great vidio. Thanks Hank and Willie
That - 6 series komatsu excavator engine was sounding very nice but sadly to see been abandoned in forest. U all guys do one thing, take a Perkins engine and put in this excavator. It would better work
Thanks for another great video Hank and Wiley. It was interesting that is for sure. Sorry this one would not run for you. When you get into wiring and electrical things could be a lot of things wrong. Think this one will just have to be. You and Wiley did your best. Just press on to the next one. Wiley-fix your arm with a bandage to prevent infection. Thanks to both of you for your efforts. You did your best. Thanks for everything. The Iowa Farm Boy. Steve.
A couple of years ago my cousin bought a 1997 Komatsu PC300 LC-6 that was sitting in the woods since 1999. My cousin purchased the excavator from the widow of the original owner and she told my cousin that her husband purchased the excavator brand new shortly after buying the property it was abandoned on. He purchased the excavator to clear the property and build their log home. The excavator sat all winter and when summer hit her husband fired up the excavator to start digging a pond and within minutes the machine lost oil pressure and the oil was everywhere. Her husband figured out the block froze and cracked amd coolant filled the crank case when he fired it up and that was the last time the machine was used and it was never repaired due to her husband having a stroke and he never recovered enough to do anything. The house was too much to maintain for the widow and she couldn't live alone anymore so she was selling the house and the excavator had to go. My cousin purchased the excavator from her for $5000 and had a week to get it off the property. We pulled the engine at the property using a tree with a pulley and the winch on his truck. The engine in that excavator was a rebranded 8.3 Cummins so I found a core engine for sale and used what I could from the original engine. We installed the engine and fired up the excavator without any problems. The excavator didn't even have 300 hours on it and everything was like new except for the wear and tear from sitting in the woods for over 20 years. The machine cleaned up very nicely
New merch idea: A shirt with a smiling can of Ether that says "Say it AND spray it!" 😂😂😂 And he's got a little spritz coming out of the nozzle. Whatcha think? 😅😅😅 Ya'll gave it all you had! And that's good enough. Thanks for sharing, guys! 👍👍
The newer they are the more of that electrical crap you have to deal with. I'm working on a IH tractor that only needs 12 volts to the starter. Everything else is mechanical. Much simpler.
I noticed in the 1st video that the fuse cover was off inside the cab. Plus you said there was an issue with the engine not cutting out. Did you check the fuses to see if the owner had previously removed the fuse/relay for the fuel pump to cut out the engine? Just a thought. Love your content
Buenas tardes desde Argentina 🇦🇷....por que no llevan una sopladora portátil a batería y sacan la basura antes de tratar de arrancar el motor?....en 15' estarían trabajando mas cómodos... saludos
Thats the problem with dealers, they most times are not willing to help backyard mechanics. Once in a while there is a dealer who helps, but too few. 😊
Hank, did you check the continuity of the cable to the starter from the battery? Did you try jumper cable from the battery to the starter? That sure acts like there is a master shut off switch somewhere. Ask the guy with the pc200 where it is. If you go back take a leaf blower and a grinder to get a good ground.
Hank aren't electrical problems frustrating spoils a good will it start video ,but there's plenty of other,s waiting in the bushes for you and Wiley Cheers Kym Adelaide
I'd try getting the owner to get another fusible Link distribution power control block for that 24-volt direct feed fuel solenoid shutoff switch on kumotsu backhoe.,or whatever the name brand of it actually is guy's. I would put some actual eyelets on those bare wires that go to the battery terminal post to individually also for safety and better connection purposes to. Cause that controller fused distribution block has A burned out fuse link inside of it. That's causing those issues due it having loose terminals and other loose connections on it to Hank. That fusible link is made into that block as one whole unit unfortunately to.
If that solenoid is bad the machine will not work it works the hole machine please don’t put those wires together that 24 voltage will fry the main computer then it will really cost to fix I did that and 7000 dollars later I had it going good luck
I don't like to speak ill of anyone, but neither of these boys is the sharpest tool in the shed ! They passed right over the first thing they should have done. They should have cleaned all the battery connections first. 24 volt dc or 1 volt dc if you ain't got good connections anything electric is not gonna work. If they could not find the power lead to the fuel solenoid they should have still been able to jump it. But I was not on the job with um so what do I know. Work Safe, Be Well Enjoy Life
lol. You must be new here. Welcome. We ain't mechanics by no stretch of the imagination. But we do enjoy life! Check out some more of our misadventures
Another failure, another electrics problem, both of you out of your depths, you need to find another friend who is an auto electrician, change your name to The three Amegos.

Yeah Hank just tightened all the wires on it. If it were a shake it would have bit him.

I THINK YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT ON THIS ONE, GORDON, I GOT-CHER-6 BROTHER... FER-SHER... PEACE, FROM CREEL CHIHUAHUA, MEXICO...
Technically guys, you didn’t fail, it ran, just not for very long, it definitely ran. I’d count it as a win. Always a pleasure to watch you two trying to resurrect old iron. Thank you.
Thanks!
Great effort guys. Probably some unhooked wire amongst the mess. You should go back to it with more info in hand and get it on the second try .
Great Job Men !!! You guy's Rock, Great video Thanks for bringing us along!!!! You and Wiley are the best together 😊
I don't know about you but watching these vidio's makes me want an excavator but I absolutely don't have any use for one or a place to park it. Great vidio. Thanks Hank and Willie
We heard it run, that is a win. I think you need to carry a first aid kit with you. Wiley seems prone to getting cuts.
Looks like Wily still needs a bandage for that chainsaw bite. First aid kits are a must in any vehicle.

Awesome video, Hank and Wiley appreciate you guys 👍
Thank you sir! Its much appreciated
Can you see anything from underneath? Gotta be access to change the starter other than from the top !
Y'all have it a great effort, keep your chin up and we are looking forward for the next video!!
You guys will get it running. You're the best at it

😂
You guys should learn to use 12v or 24v test lamp more often to check battery supply lines. Anyway good effort and video.
The newer they are the more of that electrical crap you have to deal with.
I'm working on a IH tractor that only needs 12 volts to the starter. Everything else is mechanical. Much simpler.
You guys got it to start so least you can be glad of that. good video

Nice job and God bless y'all
Great second half thanks Hank and Wylie
I'd try googling it what's the fusible link amperage it takes to control that backhoe.
You guys need to take some electrical lessions and get a couple of volt meters great work guys
Cool vidéo need part 3 plz
Thats the problem with dealers, they most times are not willing to help backyard mechanics. Once in a while there is a dealer who helps, but too few. 😊
Hay guys good luck buddy s

Sometime the master off is located behind one of the side doors
Hank…next time try a non painted ground source
Hank and wily that was an amazing video 😊
Nice work. Maybe peruse some online schematics on these machines before tackling.
Hank aren't electrical problems frustrating spoils a good will it start video ,but there's plenty of other,s waiting in the bushes for you and Wiley

Adelaide
Why do you need a jumper, is it cold?
31:48........Wiley making blood again.......I think you need to give him hazard pay lol. Come on part 3
Hank no that things makin Wilys !!
I made a mistake to listen to your singing Hank BEFORE breakfast
Blood offerings to the Komatsu Gods

U guys tried but got beat no disgrace in that 👍
Ive got a machine like this, this would be a good machine for you hank.
😁👍
no failure here boys, i heard it go brum brum...
how much hazard pay does whiley cost each trip...
love this vid
Is there a reason you guys do not use a volt meter?? You can find out anything with a meter. I'm dumb and l fix many things with one.
Hank.if in doubt.ask google.😮
Darn it I wanted to hear it crank
Love it
I know you guys will get it running But when you run into this with wiring cant you just download wiring schematic for the machine
You have a chair switch on the left don't you put that tall bent arm down to enable power ? Can't start standing on track safety... Guess.
I would have that thing fired up in noooo time, but I work on heavy equipment. Good try though.
Uncle! 😢
Halo

Hank you ain't right , you at the gun store right next to it.. I am still laughing at that one.
I can't believe yaw are giving up
It's 5 hours from us. We ran out of time
Wiley needs a medic
Is this excavator for sale?
Absolutory everything is for sale for the right price .
@@davidmcd8400 then what is the price?
I’ll buy it off of you? Do they want to sell it?
😂😂

Your Jokes Kill Me 😂😜
Why is it guys every time we work on machine we we get wounded
I like you guys work but not your singing and jokes 😂
Nah, you haven't been beat on this one. You just have not been successful yet. Keep plugging away. You're only beaten when you give up.
Watched 3 videos you have not got any thing going
That's bc we're not mechanics 😂
