What I have found that helps in a case like this, is to pressurize the fuel going to the pump. I have an old small fire extinguisher I modified so I can put fuel in it, then pressurize it with compressed air, 30 to 40 psi. Connect it directly to the pump inlet and hit the trigger a bit to put diesel fuel at 40 psi into the pump inlet to force any check valve or inlet restriction thru (gummy fuel, etc) It does help.
hey fellas, just a side note. i used to run cnc lathes and machined all different parts of hydraulic cylinders. those chrome rods that extend and retract wont have any problems being out in the weather as long as there's enough chrome on them. cuz chrome (unless its machined) wont rust another great video guys keep up the good work and god bless ya'll from central texas
Yes but after some years of exposure to sun and oxygen in the air the chrome can oxidize and fail. Usually in a small spot, then grow and get worse from there. Best thing is to apply heavy grease to the exposed chrome for over winter or long tern storage.
Yep Hank : a dash 3 series with the Blue & yellow/ gold paint . Late 80's/ early 90's to very early 2000's used that paint scheme. Komatsu Went to the solid yellow paint in the Dash 5 series excavator. Mack
That joke with the dictionary and the reaction was just hilarious, it made my day!😂🙈 We need some humor in a world that has become the way it is now, thank you🙏🙂
You should keep a few different sizes of basic fuel filters if you need one you can put it on the machine to start it you can take it back off dump it out and save it for the next machine just to get it started
friend I would like to ask you why in your country they abandon heavy machinery and here in my country 🇨🇴 I would like to have my own Excavator because here they are not abandoned
many years ago worked at Montgomery Wards we installed after market A/C units on vehicles that didn't come with A/C the hose clamps for the A/C all had that little arm on the clamp it was used to make sure the clamp was over the barb in the correct position for the most holding power. seldom see them anymore
What about that huge air compressor you were working on previously? We only had two episodes and unfortunately, that didn't turn on. Is there any update on that?
What you should bring is eye protection, Hank when you're running a weedeater. I've landscaped for 35 years and my eye protection has taken some nasty hits, but not my eyeballs. Be safe, Hank !
What a project! What I'm wondering is why not use that new jumper pack to see if it would at least turn over? You have wires and clamps on it, saves a lot of frustration! Then ,you let the magic smoke out! The hose clamp with the "hook" on them is an old auto A/C service item, as is the aluminum hose splicer. The purpose of the hook is to allow you to tighten the clamp directly over the area of the hose barbs. I used a lot of this type fittings in the sixties.
18:00 you are absolutely correct though, don't send out some boys to do a job you need a man to handle. Thing is, the boys DO need to be out there gathering that wisdom from the men who are now ageing out.. It's going to be a tough bunch of years coming up, all the old engineers from the 70s and 80s are all retiring out and dying, and boy I'll tell you what, there aren't many YOUNG mechanics or operators out there like there was 30 years ago. It's like video games and being lazy sure did make us not want to work anymore. My wife's oldest son is now a pipefitter with a big company, he's getting his welding cert and he's building industrial boilers for a living. 19 years old. He's one of VERY few young men learning trade work today. It's good to see him doing it, but it's a shame to see how many kids (young men) can't read a tape measure, no less turn a wrench or even lay down a bead.. It's scary.
Amazing that this equipment is just left..they all have there stories as to why...but it saddens me that they are not gotten too sooner. Great job at getting the ole girl running 🚜🛻🛠️🔧😇👍
I'm 41, I sharted on myself today😂😂!! I agree with you Hank, use what you got to clear a path and roll with it!! Great job y'all and stay safe!! Thank you for another great video!!
Wiley I see a halo forming over your head. You do well with Hanks bad jokes.😇you and Hank work well together. Just like a master and a younger apprentice.
Hank and Wiley were working on a machine in grizzly country ... W: Hey Hank, what you're going to do if a bear shows up? H: I'm going to leg it W: But you can't run faster than a bear H: No, but I can run faster than you!
Thanks for another great video. It was interesting and enjoyable. Congratulations to both of you for getting it running. Good going Wiley and Hank. You got it going. Good deal. Who is buying lunch. Nice going guys. The Iowa Farm Boy.
Hank, you are happy that the oil wasn't over full because that means there is much less of a chance that the engine has been drinking raw dihydrogen monoxide. Oil floats on DHMO so it would make the oil over the full mark. Engines that develop a drinking problem and turn towards DHMO also called H2O don't fare too well when trying to get them to turn over. 🤔😁
Hank I don't know how you keep finding these hidden jewels in the woods I sure enjoy watching you and Wally work on those things you come along way Hank you used to only carry a crescent wrench look at you now getting yourself a service truck thanks for the videos always a good time say hi to Wally
I was lucky when I was younger and found a full set of Snap-On pics.. They are a SAVIOR when pulling hoses - be it radiator or fuel line, even doing vacuum line stuff when they get all crusted on, man those pics are a lifesaver.. It seems to be a lot safer than using a flat head screwdriver. I know you guys have come quite a long way with your work over the past year or 2 on here (or maybe longer I don't know) but man a good set of strong pics, they make a difference! (I'm at the part y'all were messing with the fuel line rubber hose before the bad injector primer)
Hank to make things easier and less stressful on the old engines, we used to use an old carburettor and tank with ATF petrol mix fixed on the air intake so it atomised the petrol oil into the intake air, it usually stops the need for brake cleaner and gives the old engines a chance,
@34:33 I wasn't gonna subscribe till I heard that comeback I'm 70 just retired from glazing for 50 years and 47 days my boss was 76 at the time (oh yeah June 8, 2023) and my boss is still there(owner) and he took ownership 6 years before I started his dad started the company and he started right after 2 years of business college and 4 years of 'nam. I worked for 3 other concerns plus 6 months of failed college nixon killed the draft 2 weeks before I had to take the oath. Nothing happens by accident I had a decision military or civilian I chose the latter and hindsight says it may not have been the right decision but It's the one I made, I wanted to work there till I dropped dead ,my body said NOPE. So here I am subscribing to your channel. My Boss owns an aluminum window & door manufacturing company in Charlevoix Michigan and Cold Water Michigan, of the four employers I had he's the best, I don't no what the older of the two of you is to the other but this old man is shaping up to be one cool dude, I like him. So I subbed.
Like u said,"when it is 2 inches above the full mark on the engine oil dip stick that it means something..That being said is ,u have water in the engine..

Hi guys! Komatsu changed their logo in 1991 so that excavator is a pre-1991 model.
PC220 Dash 3 made from 1986-1993
The following series was dash-5 1990-1997 and introduced white in the paint scheme around the cab.
@@gidnhendriksen2927 I had a 1985 pc200lc 3 and a 1989 pc200lc 5.

That picture of Wiley "Mr March" laying on the tarp under the rig was pretty funny 42:46

Those hose clamp are generally found in AC units. They are used to make sure that the clamp are located in the correct spot.
Thanks!
Thank you sir

Howboutcha !! Love the shirt hank! That says it all right there !!!
Over full on the dipstick generally suggests water in the oil pan.
I love you guys! God bless you both.

Wiley looked outstanding on top of that machine
Out standing in the field was our favorite
Way to go Hank and Wiley. I thought I saw Elvis early in the video when you turned the fan.
🕺🏻👍🔧
Wow you guys got it running, oh buy the way Hank did I see Elvis on top of motor .
Good job and God bless yall
I like the vids Hank and Wily do separate, but like abbot and Costello, the vids are best when you fellas are a team.
If a diesel engine isn't priming pour diesel in the intake it helps prime it and started easier
What about that huge air compressor you were working on previously? We only had two episodes and unfortunately, that didn't turn on. Is there any update on that?
I knew you and Wiley could get it going Wiley knows his stuff. I enjoy watching your videos thanks for the videos
What you should bring is eye protection, Hank when you're running a weedeater. I've landscaped for 35 years and my eye protection has taken some nasty hits, but not my eyeballs. Be safe, Hank !
Seeing Wally laying underneath the excavator he look like Burt Reynolds back in the day posing that same position that's funny at least to me it was

The engine in that thing sounds solid.👍
That was a good one 😅😂
I'm 41, I sharted on myself today😂😂!! I agree with you Hank, use what you got to clear a path and roll with it!! Great job y'all and stay safe!! Thank you for another great video!!
Wiley I see a halo forming over your head. You do well with Hanks bad jokes.😇you and Hank work well together. Just like a master and a younger apprentice.

LT is long track.
Whats next step after these videos? Is it just to see if they get started and Nothing after ?

LOL, the blood pressure joke.

Hay Hank you need a power power prob to find the right wires for the right wires.
