Welcome to today's video.
This time we saw the renovation of the green bean slicer.
The green bean slicer is made in Germany and is marked with the inscription Gesetzlich geschützt, which in Czech means - Protected by law.
We estimate the age of the cutter to be in the 19th century.
Now let's talk about beans.
Common bean is a climbing annual.
It was originally grown in Central America, then spread throughout the world and became a popular delicacy.
Beans contain Arginine and other amino acids, flavonoids, minerals with silicic acid and chromium salts.
And what effects does it have on our health?
The greatest value at the right time of collection is the high content of vegetable insulin and, together with blueberry, it is the basic ingredient of anti-diabetic teas.
The plant is diuretic, also helps with rheumatic pains.
Beans are slightly poisonous when raw, so heat treatment is always important.
And that's all for today.

It makes what is labeled as "French beans" here in North America. Thank you for the video.
Yes. I have a modern day version of this.
Thanks Bob, it's not used in my country.
You can buy Frenched beans pre-cut in Canada (and I assume the US), frozen and canned. French bean cutters are still sold today and are popular with people who grow their own beans or buy fresh from a farm. My mom had one!
@@Ea-Nasir_Copper_Co 👍👍😉😉
😊
Another excellent restoration. I have never seen a bean slicer before. I think one reason this slicer is so ornate is because the manufacturer was proud of his product and wanted it to stand out. He would be especially proud to see what a beautiful restoration you accomplished. Thanks from USA.
Thank you Pat for the kind words. Hugs from the Czech Republic :)
A great job Radek, is it really from the 19th Century? That makes it really old, more than 123 years! As Harry Harrison says below, it is wonderful the amount of artistry the manufacturer put into designing and making what is just a kitchen tool. I like the gold painted details you added and I appreciate Veronica taking the time to demonstrate that the slicer still works. Well done you two, Nick
Hello Nick, it was difficult for Veronica this time to find any detailed information from the history. She found a very similar slicer that was dated 1860. This slicer was not used in our country. So maybe that's why nothing specific could be found. Happy first day of spring to you all my friend :)
This video was fitting because tonight I had French style green beans with supper.
Thank you for another nice restoration of an antique kitchen appliance.
So it worked. Lol, Thank you
question comes to mind: why do we need to slice beans? we normally cut it.
I didn't know they were poisonous raw!
We had one in our household. Heer name was Great Aunt Mary. The process is 'frenching the beans" When you cut a bean lenthwise, and boil them, water is not captured inside. The bean can be cooked for a shorter time keeping the flavor fresh.
Hello Radek and Veronica beautiful restoration beautifully restored well done see you at the next project
I will look forward to it Vince, thanks :)
Hello from France. Beautiful restoration. Lead paint on an object to be used to cut food!! he was not afraid of anything in the past!!
It is true. Perhaps they did not know the impact of these dangerous substances, including asbestos.
Congratulations Radek and Veronica, another beautiful restoration.
a hug.
Thank you so much my friend :)
Am always excited to see when you post a new video since I know that it will be another museum quality restoration of a mechanical marvel from another age. And once again, another excellently researched background story.
Thank you very much Fred for the kind words :)
Radek & Veronika, excellent restoration. Truly appreciate your channel and how an item would be used. You both are fantastic and wish you a truly long and happy life together. Thank you for the posts. Veronika, I really miss your recipes.
Thank you both, Chuck. I'm sorry, but I can't talk her into continuing the Veronica channel :(
Great job on this bean slicer. It is interesting how artistic they made everyday items.
Yes, I agree, really beautiful things used to be made, today only plaster and quantity.
Ho! I am so happy to see you again. This is a long time I don’t see you! I Love what you do, this is another wonderful job! Veronica don’t change, she stay a wonderful and beautiful woman! Thanks to be there!💋❤️💋
Thank you Yves :)
Seeing the restoration is always magnificent in and of itself, but having the educational piece at the end is just perfect!
Thank you, we are happy :)
These videos keep getting better and better, both in the quality of the production, and the results of Radek's expertise in restoring machinery! And it wouldn't be as good if we didn't get to watch Veronika demonstrating the merchandise! Great job!
Wow, thank you Braxton both for the kind words :) 🤗
Tools were much more beautiful back then. 😊 Thank you for sharing this restoration with us! 😊
I agree, thank you Judith :)
Thanks for the video, the history and information on the health benefits of the bean.❤
Thank you Shevawn :)

Beautiful restoration again my friend. I love the finished colour of it. The gold on red is fantastic. Sending massive love from Ireland 🇮🇪
So I'm very happy, thank you Andy :)
Very nice work! I love to see these antique artifacts being brought back to life. I'm 68 y.o. and everytime I can restore one of these gadgets in possession of my friends... I do it just for the pleasure of seeing 'em renewed and reused. 'll it be because my desire of to be renovated & reused again? 🤪
Yes, we are the same. Only I chose my hobby 15 years ago in my job, which fulfills me. Thanks friend :)
Krásná práce, sehnali jste moc pěkný strojek. Gratuluji. A dovolte mi poznámku k Vaší paní, moc jí to sluší. 😉☺
Děkujeme oba, Zdeňku :)
I'd be eating beans just so that I could use that slicer. Lovely job.
Lol, thank you :)
A beautiful restoration. Looks better than when it was bought new. . Thanks for the explanation Veronica. I'd never seen one of these before. 👍♥️💕
It was also a premiere for us. This slicer is not used in our country.
I love your videos. I get to see great craftsmanship and indulge my love for History! Thank you both!
Thank you for your kind words Annette, always a pleasure :)
Nice little cutter for in home use , a minor change to a family diet. Very nice. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Paul :)
Excellent!
Thank you James :)

Oh Make My weekend!!! What a cool video! I was so hoping that you would add the gold to it, (it was such a pretty piece) and you did. (^.^) You really have the soul of an artist.
Love seeing Veronika demonstrating and explaining the gizmo, you all are the best.
Thank you so much for posting!

Thanks Dee for the comment, always a pleasure :)
love this ……..perfect restoration….. if you two ever come to orlando, Florida…USA….you are more than welcome to stay with my wife and I…….❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wow, that's very kind of you Mike, thank you both. Unfortunately, the USA is out of our reach.
You do such a beautiful ❤️ job at restoration. I absolutely love your work and you are such an inspiration on me. But I really enjoy your wife because she is probably the most beautiful ❤️ woman on this planet.
Thank you both so much Danny :)
I didn't think I would like the red color but with the gold accents, it's quite pretty. Definitely would brighten up a mundane kitchen task! Great job.
Thank you Becky :)
That's fantastic! You might get better results if you sharpen the blades, although, it's probably not going to be used much... A beautiful piece in your collection. Thanks for sharing...
👉👍😉 Thank you :)
It looks AMAZING !!! The red is a very nice color for this as well !! I know I have said this many times before but I love knowing the history of the items you restore it makes the experience even better very nice work as alway's !! 👍👍
Thank you so much Robert :)
Very nice restoration! So glad you caught the lead paint and removed it appropriately! We call those "string beans" in the US. You would usually run the raw beans through that machine and then cook them I think.
Thanks for the explanation Fred :)
I love the demonstrations at the end of your videos 👍
Thank you my friend :)
Respect ! And a heartfelt thank you to you both, for another well presented & very informative video. In England, we have what are called "Runner Beans", which are very similar but usually longer than the type Veronika so beautifully demonstrated with.
Thank you so much Willie :)
you have done it again! perfect restoration job for a most beautifull work of Art! the fresh Red color with Gold Trimming gives it an Antique -Industrial look , in my very humble opinion however Black Color with Green trimming would have given it a more Antique -Artistic touch! thanks!
Thanks my friend, maybe next time :)
Awesome job again. Pleasure to watch 👌
I'm glad, thank you :)
What a beautiful piece of art.
Thank you so much Donald :)

Great restoration! Nice music from the 19th century too. "Minuit, chrétiens!" 1844 by Adolphe Adam. “O Holy Night” for English speakers.
You both produce such great content!
Wow, you are knowledgeable, thank you :)
Masterpiece!!!
Thank you Michał :)
Encore une belle rénovation ! Magnifique !

Amazing Radek, I went on to You tube and saw this it had been posted '1 minute ago' but there were 15 likes, the vid is 12.5 minutes long 😂 this shows how good you are, people will like what you do without even watching it, ( I was number 20 by the way, after I'd watched it) lovely to see Veronica again and this time a 'botanical lesson rather than historical'.
Yes, apparently there are also people who trust me without having seen the video :) That will please :) Unfortunately, Veronica could not find anything closer to the history this time. Thanks for watching Kevin :)
Interesante herramienta de cocina. saludos
Gracias Martin :)
😉
Lovely job as ever. I think the slicer is intended for flat beans, in England we call them runner beans Fazolové lusky according to Google Translate.
Keep well!
Thank you for the clarification :)
Great restoration 🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹🇹
Thank you Vitas :)
Green beans are tasty,I want some for lunch
👉👍😉🤗
Scary to think that people were using that item with all that lead paint on it. Excellent restoration as always! ☺
Unfortunately, at that time they had no idea about the dangers of lead. Thank you Denise :)
