Restoration, old stools

Welcome.
In today's video you saw the renovation of a low seat on four legs, which is a stool.
The word stool comes from French and refers to a stool without a back.
The first stools appeared in Egypt and were used as seats for rulers and members of the ruling family.
These stools were usually made of precious stones and precious wood.
In Greece and Rome, stools were used as a symbol of wealth and power, they were placed in elevated places so that the owners of the stool could be seen and their importance was emphasized in front of the common people.
During the Middle Ages, the use of stools shifted.
Cheaper wood or metal began to be used for their production and its use expanded.
Stools began to be used, for example, as a seat for guests or as a footstool.
This piece of furniture is very popular even today.
Stools offer a wide range of uses, from small seating to stylish accessories to hidden storage space.

Painstaking work. Worm holes to fill, turned pieces to repair manually, veneer to replace, moulding to duplicate, details to laser, springs to tie, upholstery corners to finish invisibly. I hope you were spraying that fabric glue outside because if it is like the fabric glue we get here, it is incredibly toxic.
Quite a range of skills needed for this project! Very lovely finished product.

Well done Radek, I didn't realise you restored two stools. I enjoyed this renovation, the stools looked really good when you had finished, you even did all of the sewing yourself. This reminded me of watching my father when I was young - he never talked about what he was doing but I still managed to pick up some of his skillfulness. Wonderful restoration. Hide glue is very traditional and forgiving. It will take stain unlike other glues. Veronica you look fantastic. I think you have lost some weight and it looks wonderful on you! Your husband is a very lucky man!!!
