Not gonna tell us HOW it happened?
Reporters these days seem like they don't even know what they are doing. In my HIGH SCHOOL journalism class I was taught EVERY story needs to answer :
WHO, WHAT, WHERE, WHEN, WHY and HOW.
Stories that answer ALL those seem to be quite rare now.
Has anyone else noticed this?
Don't these people go to school for 4 YEARS to do this?
OSU released a statement. Not accidental. Not foul play. So that leaves one other option.
I would say not only they don't know what they are doing, but have no idea of any part of the situation. Like they are given a few pieces of ripped paper with a couple of facts on the little pieces, and create a VAGUE story to go with it. Maybe like one of those reality show contests where they are given a VERY short period of time, like 40 seconds before they are to go on the air with that particular story. It seems like this is going on regarding any news item. "Drive-by shooting at the corner of Main and Ninth. No description of suspects, no reports of who was shot and extent of injuries, or description of getaway car. Police investigating."

Unfortunately this was a suicide. Witnesses said they saw a person climbing over the brick wall. The person jumped. According to the woman’s husband, she wasn’t taking her medication as prescribed and attempted suicide in the past. She told her son and husband that she wanted to go to the top of the bleachers and they lost sight of her. Just so, so sad. This information was released yesterday.

Maybe, just maybe- if a woman falls 100+ feet onto hard pavement, you shouldn't show her corpse to who you think might be her family in order to ID her.
With a fall from the height they're stating, it's unlikely she could be identified by dental records as bodies tend to break up on impact over 8-10 stories. 😢

I read that the mom had a history of mental illness and had attempted suicide at least twice (one time earlier this year). Why she would chose her daughter's graduation to do this, idk...

Prayers for the graduate and family of this woman. She had attempted to take her life in the past and this time she was able to do it with all eyes on the graduates, and her family had lost sight of her. This country is struggling with mental health issues. So sad this became so PUBLIC

Horribly tragic as this was not sure how they could stop the Graduation ceremony, sounds like it was already started. Thousands were gathered and traveled to attend . I'm sure if it was suddenly canceled more issues would have arose. Difficult decision but did what needed to be done...proceed with the ceremony

If I were the family member of another graduate I would certainly want the event to continue. But it is very tragic.
Im surprised this doesn't happen more often with how steep most stadium seating is and how drunk many fans get.
Seeing numerous articles about this and thinking the same, there have been many comments from people who apparently go there or went there and are familiar with the stadium and none have heard about any deaths during football season when the stadium is packed and the fans are sauced.

I read a statement that said she committed suicide and it was her daughters graduation.
Praying for her family, must’ve been horrible when they found out. That’s why I don’t care if people laugh when I’m in event spaces that are awkwardly high if I do not feel comfortable I will crouch down while going down the stairs or going up.

My high school stands had a low wall at the top of the stadium. After a child fell they raised the wall. How is it that these college stadiums haven't done the same. Did she climb over it like how do you just fall.

There are so many conflicting stories on here. Suicide? The husband said he lost sight of her, so how do they really know she jumped and didn't fall? Just because she tried to kill herself before doesn't mean she did on her daughters graduation. People have innocently fallen before from stadiums.

My friends grandpa ended himself. He sent his wife to a beauty salon. Packed up all his things to go to charity or the family member, left his best suit to be buried, had a courier service deliver a package with note and house key to the police shortly after his intended departure. Had scheduled the crime scene maid service for the following day. He lined the bathroom in plastic then positioned himself so most of the blood would go down the drain making the minimal mess. He had given letters for each person close to him and had put everything in order. Then he used his old service weapon to end himself. Most polite ever in a city.he thought of everything.
The man was determined to skip the last suffering ahead. I respect that man
