I was taught you have to work for what you want. I had lots of trauma in school, but I studied, and I graduated. These young kids need to be taught respect and work skills.

In 1950, in HS, they studied government and logic, the higher mathematics, ancient and medieval history, french, latin, music, and organic chemistry. A broader and more demanding course of study than prevails at most undergrad universities. Those who couldn't hack it went to trade school, then went to work. When i was in 3rd grade you had to know all your math facts, and all the state capitals. You also had to master cursive penmanship. Now, after 70 years of "pedagogical progress" we have THIS as an education system. Can you IMAGINE what our education system will look like 70 years from now? If we're still around, in 2094??

I was shocked to see how bad the handwriting of American children / teenagers really is. A 13 year old American kid is writing at the level of a 6 year old European kid.
I graduated from high school back in 2022 on June 11th, and we didn't even get our diplomas that night. Just some empty diploma case and all of us had to return to the school to get the "diploma" from some office and it's not even a diploma, it was just a piece of paper that reads "Lamar graduate".
These incidents are so common, in large part, because of our country's wet-noodle tolerance for bad behavior combined with the lack of stern across-the-board consequences for this thuggery. In 1950, in HS, they studied government and logic, the higher mathematics, ancient and medieval history, french, latin, music, and organic chemistry. A broader and more demanding course of study than prevails at most undergrad universities.
Those who couldn't hack it went to trade school, then went to work. When i was in 3rd grade you had to know all your math facts, and all the state capitals. You also had to master cursive penmanship.
Now, after 70 years of "pedagogical progress" we have THIS as an education system. Can you IMAGINE what our education system will look like 70 years from now? If we're still around, in 2094??

I was shocked to see how bad the handwriting of American children / teenagers really is. A 13 year old American kid is writing at the level of a 6 year old European kid.
I graduated from high school back in 2022 on June 11th, and we didn't even get our diplomas that night. Just some empty diploma case and all of us had to return to the school to get the "diploma" from some office and it's not even a diploma, it was just a piece of paper that reads "Lamar graduate".
After high school you only got 2 options: college and come out broke or military and come out broken AND broke

Schools keep getting bigger classes and expect one teacher to educate 30 kids at a time about an ass backwards curiculum. I learned the gosh darn civil war 5 times! I fell asleep in all my history classes and woke up to ace the test only to wonder how tf my peers could fail.
TLDR; We need more teachers and a higher standard of education.
