    34yo here! Your video talking about retinol in moisturizers possibly being too high & being the reason for peeling/flaking HELPED SO MUCH I had started adding neutrogena night cream with .3% or smth, figuring i should upgrade my routine w/better products? and my face was constantly peeling w/dead skin, flaky patches. fresh out of the shower I'd apply there'd be a stinging but I thought that's happened before, water was just too hot... then my chest developed tiny bumps, idly scuffed my nails across & now there's bloody little wounds! Within a week of tossing it everything was gone [facepalm] Returned to my old moisturizer

    • @euro_babe
      @euro_babe 2 місяці тому

      you can use retinol on damp skin or it will burn you. make sure your face is completely dry before applying it. if your skin is sensitive, apply a face cream first and then retinol 5min later

    Over night beauty hacks that have blown my mind with how effective they are: 1. Frownies work! I’m sold for life. My forehead wrinkles are significantly reduced after a few weeks. 2. Hydrocolloid nose patches. The big ones that cover your whole nose and part of your cheeks. They pull so much sebum and gunk out overnight, you wake up with almost invisible pores on your nose! 3. Silicone scar tape! Works best if you press hard on them otherwise they slide off in your sleep. I apply them on any PID marks from healed acne. I go to bed with my frownies, my nose patch, 1 or 2 scar patches on my PID, a few other hydrocolloid pimple patches. I look weird! But it all works.

    I’m 60, and the best way to describe my skin is reactive. Any time I try something new I have to go very slow. About 20 years ago, when all of a sudden most laundry detergents started to turn my whole body into a big, red mess; my dermatologist had me go back to the basics and use zinc everywhere I was red. It was my miracle! I’ve kept a tub of zinc in my bathroom ever since. And to my friends and family who have laughed when I recommended it to them, looks like I was ahead of the curve! Thanks for your helpful videos.

      I have a tip, might work for you too who knows. 😊
      So I am/was identical to you, but do tolerate The Ordinarys 30% BHA/AHA for only 20-30 seconds (edit: i think i only did like 10-15 seconds in the very beginning) 1-2 times per week, it did make a big difference for me. It wasn't perfect, but comparability to before it was a big difference.
      Only use it if your skin barrier is 110% intact tho (which i managed to finally get for the first time only using a pure glycerol product every night/morning, my specific one is a 20% emulsion).
      Those two, sunscreen, and medicine for eczema were the only things i used for years.
      My skin is fine enough for me to experiment a tiny bit with other acids now.
      edit 2: I forgot! the hyperpigmentation for your face: i have none now, i used Klairs Vitamin Drops to get rid of them!
      It has 5% vitamin C, very low. My skin was sensitive to it tho, probably since it has lavender oil and orange oil (😭) but it was worth it for the vitamin c. i took short breaks often to recover. if you try it, be patient, it took 1 year for me.

      Some butt pastes contain ingredients that absorb liquid from exuding wounds such as *talc, mica, kaolin* . They do a wonderful job used _ad hoc_ but they dry as hell used in our face. You are not doing anything wrong at all. Just check the ingredients and choose a brand that does not contain them. If you live in Europe, Mitosyl is heaven 🙌🏼✨. Hope it helps.

    • @xamomillaki
      @xamomillaki 2 місяці тому +21

      You're meant to use exfoliating acids a couple of nights a week, in between your retinoid nights. So, you could do retinoid for 2-3 nights, then glycolic one night, then retinoid again 2-3 nights etc. The retinoid speeds up the cell turn around time so they die faster than usually, and the glycolic acid removes that surface dead skin. Hope that helps

    • @blueice011
      @blueice011 2 місяці тому +9

      It's not rare that people go to town once hooked on retinoids - if seasoned users and with non-reactive skin, they layer both tretinoin and acids in the same routine, claiming that they got the most amazing results by doing that. Now kids are doing thing called 'tret on wet', which is self-explanatory I guess. I remember dr Idriss talked about using tretinoin up to 4 days a week and acids on other days, but she also mentioned few times that she would use both in the same routine. There are products around which have both on their ingredient list, of course, appropriate formulations that won't be damaging I suppose. I don't know. I'm for less is more approach. Especially if the skin doesn't have major issues. If drugstore retinol works, as long as it works and the skin is happy - no need to upgrade for me.

      Zinc oxide is less common for skincare in my country. I only found it together with salicylic acid or baby cream for rash but it contain with parfume which my skin sensitive for it.
      I think these suggestion worth of try, because now i'm sure with my guts that my face couldn't tolerate moisturizer often.
      Like, AM vit c toner with vit c serum PM vit c toner retinol, other day AM same PM hyaluronic toner with tret cream, and third day AM PM vit c toner hyaluronic serum, than back repeat the cycle. Bruuh my skin keeps getting acnes although not many just one or two but I know I'm doing wrong since retinol and tret always proven amazing to my skin for years already so no not them. Hyaluronic a acid/moisturizer is supposed to used for my skin barrier, that's many says essential when using retinol.
      I never to rarely to use HA or moisturizer, but then I put it in to my routine, and acne keeps coming.
      My skin overall okay tho, but having one or two acnes 😅
      So, it is a great information to me. Hope change to or add glycolic acid and zinc will make me find my best routine for my clear skin goals.

    I accidentally bought foundation makeup that had Vitamin C (L’Oréal brand for aging skin). I missed this info on the bottle because the font was so small. By the end of work, my face was peeling so much, it was embarrassing. Now I make sure to use makeup with no Vitamin C or any kind of hyeluronic acid. Leave the exfoliation to your nightly or weekly routine. And slather the moisturizer generously afterwards. This lesson taught me that I don’t need help exfoliating my skin during the day, I have a normal complexion. I have a friend with real dry skin and claims her routine requires the use of makeup with acid to help the exfoliation process quickly so it won’t show scales during the day. Find your beauty regimen according to the needs of your skin complexion .
