- This build feels like one big nightmare. Please subscribe to show your support! Just when I thought I was figuring things out, I find a HUGE problem with the rebuild done by the shop. I'm not sure what comes next but I'll hopefully have a direction to update you guys with on Monday.
Also, I'm having some bad issues with my brand new laptop I just spent A LOT of money on so my apologies if the video is glitchy at all. I'm really on a roll lately huh.

Can't believe this 💔. Subscribe to show your support!
Dude, I know what that part is. It’s a windage for the oil cooler. It sits in the block behind the oil cooler housing. I’ve just finished building my motor and I know the part very well as I had to purchase a new one from the dealership as mine was broken.
Part number is: O6F 103 623 E
Hell yeah. You're the man, thank you 😁👍🏻
I'd be claiming for new pistons along with new block.
They obviously broke the plastic shroud putting it all together and couldn't give a flying f*ck, a rushed build because the mechanic wanted to get home with a 4 pack and beat his wife.
I get this all the time with main dealers and small time garages, you can't trust anyone
Yeah man. Before I found this, I was already dissatisfied and had the impression that the job was rushed. This was a highly recommended shop too
Man this sux so hard but I hope you can get them to help you.
Thanks JT, I hope so too
I seem to remember when you got the "new" motor back from that shop, the noise it made at idle didn't sound right kinda knocky and chattery... Seemed to always sound kinda rough. That sucks man. You've been on the struggle bus with this thing a while.
Yeah exactly! Sometimes it sounded smooth and quiet, other times it sounded horribly noisy with clacking, knocking, and tapping. Thanks man, it's been a rough ride
The patience you have for vw is absolutely inspiring. Keep on wrenching you’ve taught me more than just how to change parts. I’m about to get into my bottom end for the first time on my mark 6 gti and because of you I have more confidence and know what to look out for. 💪 thanks man
Thanks man! I dive into most projects knowing nothing haha. It's crazy how much you can learn by just doing things yourself. There's still so much to learn but it's crazy to think that less than a year ago I didn't know anything about cylinder heads or bottom end components and now I have the confidence to do a full 2.5 swap and build myself. Do be careful though because the mk6 gti engine is different than the golf r engine!
Wow... Sending Positive vibes bro.. that sucks... I think I know where that plastic is from.. it goes in a slot on the block (oil cooler area)behind the breather that goes to the valve cover.. if I'm not mistaken.
Thanks brother, yes you are correct! Someone was kind enough to point that out earlier but I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. I learned something new today
Man this blows, the luck with this block coughswap2.5cough lol. Maybe you can see if the shop will reimburse you for a whole short block. Anyways I think this whole situation is a bit discouraging so maybe you can do some interior or exterior mods to it, so it can get you hyped and not so bummed out.
Lmao. That's a good idea. In all likelihood, the resolution that the shop and I come to will probably involve me not having an engine in the car for a little while so maybe I'll start putting my exterior parts on or do some interior stuff. Or bag it 🙈
I've been following this build with interest and I'm sorry to see this total mess happen to you. You have a great attitude in spite of all the bad things.
It is possible you can reuse part of the motor. The scoring could be fixed by getting the block bored out 0.5-1.0mm by a specialist. You would need bigger pistons to match obviously, but they're out there for the ea113. Might be an option worth looking over?
That shop needs to make things right with you. Was obvious to see even from the oil pump bolt head worn off from being removed and reused when it's a remove and replace part that they didn't follow the build to OE specification. I'd expect them to make this right quickly before they get embarrassed
Thank you d dubz. The block may be salvageable pending how deep the cylinder wall damage is. Boring this block larger and getting new pistons to match is certainly an option I'm exploring. I'm also exploring cutting out this abusive relationship with FSIs and putting a different engine in. The problem with the motor swap idea is that it's difficult to find a way for the shop to make it right in that scenario
@@FAZEDTom Do what you have to do, but I really appreciate the FSI content. Not many people out there putting out content of this quality on the EA113/FSI platform.
Much love and good luck with the future of this build regardless of what direction it goes, I look forward to watching the journey.
Thanks for the kind words, Chris! Regardless of whether or not I swap a different motor in here, my work with FSIs isn't over 😉😁
My MK7 dropped a thrust washer, crank walked into the block. Replaced the entire longblock. I hear it's due to the thrust washer being a half circle sort of design as opposed to full face, so it wears thin and eventually drops. Didn't even know that could happen on a MK6, sorry man.
Damn sorry it happened to you too man. Mine was a week after a fresh rebuild with new thrust washers and bearings haha. Yeah it happens on the FSIs but I believe it's even more common on the MK7s. Did you get a new block or replace the whole engine?
FAZED Replaced the whole engine man. Found a good deal on one through LKQ. Good that your shop is making things right though, that should never happen on a fresh thrust washer like that. Mine was worn thin over 70k worth of cold starts.
Soo sad bro, reminds me of a friend car that was built by a really well know company, long story short, thr left a piece of sand paper in the oil pan, i dont know how. But it clogged the oil pickup, and yeah you know what happened next😂
Duuuuude 😢 did the company build him another one?
Sorry to see this happened to you, I'm freaking out too, I'm following you some weeks ago, as in Mexico there isn't much content from TFSI engines.
I have a stage 2+ 2008 S3 8p, (same engine as yours I believe) car has 198xxx kms, earlier this month took my car to a local workshop, next day after they installed the VIS free wheel (btw showed them your video of the freewheel),the turbocharger was toasted not because the freewheel, turned out my oil pump had internal failure (remarkable wear marks) so on high RPM the oil pressure dropped (I did several pulls to see if the engine was revving faster).
So nowadays my engine is stripped for a complete overhaul as the main bearings had normal wear marks (there was no damage from oil starvation).
After all this I tought that it was the perfect time for a forge rebuilt, so just today, got engine measurements and tolerances, so I'm planning to get all parts from IE (bearings, rods, pistons, bolts, etc.)
Seeing this makes me think I can go back and just overhaul the engine on OEM parts...forging is way to expensive and there is no guarantee from any workshops, finally today I got the TSR performance billet oil pump (looks mint)...
Hey Vanzetti I'm sorry to hear about your engine! Very cool car though 👌🏻 we didn't get the 8P S3 here in the states. You're right, there's no guarantee you'll be problem free with a forged engine. So you've confirmed that your block is ok to be reused?
@@FAZEDTom block is 👍 it'll be machined too. I'll get the car back in 6 weeks aprox.., hopefully I'll not get bad luck as you pal. All my savings are in for this engine build, next step will be a bigger turbo but need to save money at least next 6 months
@@VanzNavarro best of luck to you brother! Let me know how it goes. Waiting is the worst part 😬 haha
Man that is so sad..
I been where you are with a broken nod on the timing belt wheel that damage my brand new head after 4000 miles with a build engine and a BT kit..
I hope you can get some help from the shop 😊😊
oh no!! That blows man. The only good thing about the pain is that it'll make the completed build feel even better. Also I'm going 5x bigger with the build now
That’s sucks dude. Try being nice with shop at first IMO. That’s def a build issue.
I do t remember reading much about the FSI engine suffering from crank walk like the 6 spd MK7
Thanks man. I'm a genuinely nice person so believe me I'll be calm with them. Hopefully they stand behind their work. Yeah I've seen some FSI thrust bearing failures, I didn't know it was a big mk7 issue though
Crank walk is mainly caused by stiff pressure plates or having to depress the clutch to start the car.
Crank walk is the exact reason why I have a clutch bypass harness installed. This shouldn't happen 200 miles after a rebuild anyway 😅
FAZED in that case it’s a clear sign of a engine build error imo.
New motor time
Yeah seems like it 💔
Damn. Sorry to see homie.
😢 Full send time
Was really planning on going big turbo next summer with my Mk6 R but I think Stg2 might really be the FSIs limit :/ Might start uploading vids as I do my first mods too, we need more Mk6R content out here.
Let me just say this, if you plan your build out really well and don't cut any corners, you'll probably be fine, but wild shit like this will always be in the cards. Most big turbo FSI guys I talk to have had some bad shit happen but very very few have had it as bad as I have. And I'd love to see more mk6r content 💙
That's definitely not the case, many FSI's out there pushing big numbers. The main shortfall the FSI has is its fueling system, once that has been upgraded I feel its a pretty solid platform. Our boy Fazed is just having a bad luck streak that's sure to turn around soon.
Exactly. I do think it's a solid platform if you properly execute the build and don't have horrific luck.
I am going to sponsor you with a new oil pump.
Damn Jed I sincerely appreciate that but I actually have a spare 😅 and you'll see soon that I won't be needing the spare anyway
oh my goodness. This is so not good at all. The shop better find a good way to solve this. We're talking huge $$$$$ of hard earned money. So sorry for this. Looks like you'll need a new engine, plus those pistons and rods will need to be replaced as well seeing that its probably scored now. 😢😢😢 Was this a regular FSI BPY Block you put in or another Golf R built block? So sorry...hang in there, i'm sure they will help you out on this.
Hey it was the BPY block I bought. The shop replaced the crank and bearings. Yeah I'm not sure if I should trust the pistons and rods, certainly a lot of debris banging around in there. Thanks man, I'm hanging in there
Man, this makes me feel sick to see. With only 200 miles, I think there is hope that your block and crank might be ok.
Maybe! I'm gonna have the shop take a look at it. I'm not gonna use it either way
oil filter holder
,it fits in the engine block ua-cam.com/video/ZX_-JGS6DF4/v-deo.html
Thank you brother, one other person commented that earlier. I wonder how the hell it broke
I know what that plastic piece is too. I'll send you a pic, but it is part of the oil pump assembly.
It goes in the block on the rear side of the oil cooler 😁
I found your channel couple weeks ago. Your car is broke more than it runs by about 100:1
Shit happens. She's about to be down for a little while but I'm turning this build way up
Holy shit dude. You've had the worst luck with this engine.
It's absolutely unreal, I can't believe I'm still making videos of shit going wrong
that is suck bullshit, im gutted for you and that would explain why your cam journals are scored... hopefully the shop will do the right thing and compensate for the poor workmanship and damaged caused to your engine
You think the cam journals got toasted because this messed with my oil pressure? I had the same thought but I couldn't really say for sure
@@FAZEDTom i personally think small metal shavings from the chewed up thrust washer has gone though the oil system which has scored the journals. because their is no actual bearing it requires oil to prevent the cam and journals from destroying each other and if the oil is contaminated you would assume its going to cause issues. i would recommend removing the oil filter and see how much metal you can see in the filter
also personally i would be asking them for a new fluidampr from where they cut it to keyway the crank when really they should have done it this way ua-cam.com/video/dFzrlZivabg/v-deo.html
That's a good point about metal shavings getting through the oil system. Damn. And sweet that's a great dowel pin video, very very cleanly done.
What in the hell?!?! Either you are in a game show or a case of "the mechanic left a tool inside your engine".
How does that even happen?
I know you got other plans and don't want to sink more money into this engine, but if you would like, I could talk to my shop and maybe they could help you out.
Keep us posted on what your shop says and if they own up to it. That is really disappointing, that they would deliver such a bad job.
Yeah man I seriously feel like I'm in some kind of prank show. Unrelated but the brand new laptop I just spent a small fortune on is having issues too. If your shop is able to help in any way I'd be willing to help them back in any way I can. That might be tricky considering I'm halfway across the country though 😕 I appreciate it Ralf
Your gonna have to build the motor yourself.
The shop will take care of it, it was some kind of freak accident it seems
Bunch of clowns I'd be pissssseed
They're a great shop, it must've been a freak accident. They're doing everything they can to fix it
@@FAZEDTom that's good as long as they realise their mistake and you're not out of pocket how much further are you trying to take this
How much further am I trying to take the build? 700+ whp 🙄
@@FAZEDTom how much more do you think you need to do to get it there
Bigger turbo and probably a bigger motor 😅 700whp on a 2.0L FSI is probably approaching a record. I was only planning on hitting 550whp on this built FSI setup.
F 😶
💙
Get a lawyer right now , get a new engine and compentsation.
The shop is thankfully eager to make it right and they're as shocked as I am
I would like to thumbs down this video due to distressing content.
🤣🤣 sorry. Speaking of the devil though...
