Scott, These videos are a godsend! I purchased my CTX two years ago. I put it together, took it out in my front yard, turned it on and there were so many noises, beeps, screeches that I turned it off. I put it back in the case and hung it in my garage. I bought Andy's book, got halfway through it, I made notes and two years later it was still hanging in my garage. I was so frustrated that I even considered selling it. Then I watched your video series. It was a breath of fresh air. I literally watched the set of videos, then got my CTX, watched each video again and set my machine up step by step as you did. I went out in my yard, ( we still have snow so now field expeditions yet) and it worked great. No unnecessary noises or settings. You simplified the setup and explained it better then the Minelab videos or Andy's book. I feel so much better and confident about the machine and can't wait to get out and swing it. Dude, I can't thank you enough.
thank you so much. I have been using this machine for 2 seasons and have experienced so much frustration due to my lack of understanding. Been detecting 45 plus years. I am going to buy you a beer when I figure this thing out from your help!!!
A great machine Ive had mine a few yrs ,was paid off first season owning it. A complex but straight forward unit. Only a lil heavy I made a heavy duty bungee set up now can swing hrs on hrs no problem. This machine is my go to here on coast. I live 2miles from beach and dont leave home without it. Ive pulled some stunners out with this bad boy, enjoy it.
Weather here in KC was in 60's for a couple days this week and I got the fever! Now high is 30. That time of year! Got the CTX 3030 out, did some refresh reading Andy Sabisch and watch Mental Metal. I have searched this field next to a school for a number of years (two with the CTX 3030). Day two I selected Recovery Deep option (don't know why I never had that option selected) and wow the CTX came alive! I have been over the same area a number of times but this time it was like I never searched there. Besides pennies, dimes, quarters, I was hitting on nickels with a strong target ID of 12/13-14! Love the CTX! Oh almost forgot to mention that my right arm was feeling it!
Great video, thanks for explaining the menus snd startup. The CTX is a next level detector for sure!!!! Can't wait to see how targets are displayed and the info it provides.
Wow great video!! I have a 800 and love it, but the extras on the 30/30 are intriguing might by complicated but just like the 800 you'll figure it out with a little practice and with Mental Medal videos. I better start saving this one going to the top of the list.
I wish the ctx 3030 had a “basically an ATPRO with tornado coil but finds deeper civil war relics in Western Maryland” setting. Do you need to do the xchange2 thing on the computer to get usable settings? I’ve taken it out for three days now and can only find nails and trash. How do you do that thing where you add and eliminate the little boxes? Something this expensive should come with demystification, and simplification. THAT should be included in the excessive price. My ATPRO with tornado coil kills this thing at 1/3 the price.
I would recommend the CTX 3030 book by Andy Sabisch and yes if you want to make your life easier install the exchange software. I'll do a more recent video on it soon.
@@MentalMetal Hey man! Thnx for the reply! Your video is excellent and I have the book. It’s well written enough but doesn’t get into the specific mechanics of operation very well. Also, I’m LAZY brained and just wanna dig relics. And I meant Tornado coil. Not “storm” coil. I have access to a huge confederate camp exclusively. I’ve dug it hard for years with an ATPRO with stock, sniper and tornado coils. Was hoping this thing would grab CS buckles outta the ground for you at that price. Also, unfortunately I have a MacBook. Not a windows based computer which is required for the software upload 🙁. I suppose it wouldn’t much matter because there’s no disc included. Is it something you have to order from mine lab?
The price is definitely a little insane for how long its been around. If you know anyone with a GPX 4500, 5000, or 6000 you will find a new pay layer down there :-) I've been using my 4500 at old hunted out sites and its been a lot of fun using it. Its a pulse machine and they aren't cheap either. As far as the CTX goes, it does really well sniffing out deep silver and beach use. You can definitely find relics with it for sure but will it get you the depth you are already getting? with the Tornado coils I think you probably are. As far as upgrading the software with a MacBook, I'm not sure. You can try loading a Windows emulator within the MacBook and try that.
Hello. Ik just wondering if you could help me right now I have a Garret at pro and I am looking to upgrade so do you reccomend any new detectors around the 700 pounds price tag I could use?
This is my number one detector and the only thing wrong with it is the weight . Three hours of swinging and my shoulder is done unless I use the strap . Looking forward to more 3030 vids.
@@MentalMetal Yes I have the nox800 and I find it coil heavy. If I am beach hunting its the 3030, inland I use the xp deus and I keep the nox as a backup.
I found the Roman Licking dog hoard with mine ,it's a great detector, biggest tip I can give is swing it real slow ,we've had some great finds and in real iron infested areas and it punches deep ,but you got to go low and slow with it ,with the discrimination I use the tadpol pattern, and it finds tiny finds as well
Hey bro i need help, can you help me please? I'm a beginner and I already understand a lot of settings regarding the CTX3030, but one thing bothers me is that when I increase the sensitivity to 20-22, my detector starts giving signals on stones, and on large stones, and when I set the sensitivity to +3 it stops, now I would I wish my sensitivity was 20-22 because of the depth because I'm only looking for gold that my great grandfather buried, now I don't know what to do, give me some advice by the way, I tried that yesterday (I mean increasing the sensitivity) and the ground was wet maybe because of that or because of the large number of minerals in the country, how can I solve it and how can I know if the area is heavily mineralized or not? please help me and tell me your opinion what should i do to not lose the depth because i need it a lot and by the way i use ferris coin mode is that the best? or should i change and turn off the ground balance maybe that will reduce false signals
I'm no expert with the CTX 3030 but I'm getting dangerous 😜. Appreciate your feedback on this machine for any future videos. Thanks for watching.

I'm really glad and I appreciate the comment. Thats what these videos are for. Thank you!

A beer would be nice :-) Hopefully I'm helping :-)

Thanks John I also liked using it on the beach the past summer. Its been a fun machine to learn.

The CTX still has purpose and I love that machine.

You bet! More coming you will know first ;)

Nice tutorial video. Thank you for putting it out!
My pleasure!
The Dream Machine
Long press on ground balance? Does it do anything? Or long press map button?
Thank you
You're welcome
Excellent info thank you
This is one great machine. Still a beast.
It really is.
Hi, thks for this demonstration. very completed..... ;)
No problem thank you.
I love my ctx3030 is a great machine. Carl
ahh someone I can learn from AWESOME!

Thanks Ed I agree it is a bit heavy but for some reason I can swing that machine longer than I can with the Nox and a 15" coil.

Its a fascinating machine, thanks for the tips my friend. I appreciate it.
With noise cancel I do this 2 or 3 times on every field and if i change fields as the ground emi is always changing
Thanks for the advice!
I think you should have a CTX 3030 giveaway! I could use that gps service instead of my app.
Now that would be a giveaway! Its pretty cool feature I'm not gonna lie. Happy New Year btw!
Can I ask you who produced your UA-cam Logo / from 0033 Thanks
I did, I produce everything.
First time I used the 3030 it had to be sent back. Ground balance was faulty . Really upsetting for a Minelab and not even a sorry
🤔🤔🤔🤔

Try it on beach mode
It works better when everything is wet. Much Better signals. I use the 17” coil it goes deep
Minelab CTX 3030 Metal Detector 17" Smart Coil, 11" DD Smart Coil for $2900 it better dig the target for me !!!!
It really should LOL
I’ve got an ATPRO with tornado coil and it makes this thing look like a toy.
