      The main thing to really pay attention too is always do a noise cancel and ground balance before detecting. And really keep an eye on your recovery speed and iron bias when detecting in and around trashy areas or in iron. Thank you for your view and comment!

      Outstanding it's a good upgrade, especially with regards to build quality and features. But I think the 800 still has an advantage in goldfields for nuggets. Otherwise 900 is a major upgrade. Congrats on your upgrade! Thank you for the view and comment!

      I have to say that most all modern detectors have outstanding default programs and it's totally understandable that some don't want or even need to customize those settings. You bring up a good point here. Thank you for the view and comment!

      Among the reasons I chose the Xterra Elite Expedition Pack. Literally turn it on, pick your mode, do an easy noise cancel and go. It also has easy Auto ground balance, and ground balance tracking if you prefer to use that as well. I also like the fact that it has a -1 Iron balance (-1,0,1,2). For an SMF detector that’s easy to use at a competitive price, I can only imagine detectors like this will be great sellers. Same goes for the Nokta Triple Score that is the equivlent to the EIlte Expedition pack offering.

    Wow!!! What an awesome video! Just came home from cabelas with the 900 and this was the first video I seen. Its the only video i need to see! Such detail on every setting and i even understood every thing you explained. Wish i had a teacher like you when i was in school. Iv been detecting for 35 years,started with a cheap whites then bought a fisher 1266x. Great machine for its time. My latest is the minelab explorer se and to me it is really confusing to use but i found alot of good coins at places i hammered,just on the factory settings. Im talking indian heads or silver dimes in the same hole with nails. Im sure the 900 will do the same or even better especially since i know now how to tweek it thanks to you. I sincerely thank you for an excellent video. Much respect!!!

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  10 місяців тому

      Thank you sincerely for the kind words. I also use the 1265x, 1266x and even the 1270x and did very well with all of them. I really liked the Dual discrimination feature. I also still have my Explorer SE and I guess when it comes right down to it they're my favorite towns ever on any metal detector I have been detecting just as long as you and have used every major metal detector made since then. 900 is fantastic and when set up right it's a great all-around machine, good for everything! Thank you for watching the video and I wish you all the luck out there!

    Thanks for the demo! The 900 is a fabulous detector! I considered buying the Nox900, and while I realize the Nox900 is a more capable detector due to its greater amount ofsetting choices and a gold mode, but Mineab made it an easy decision for me to purchase their newest Sinulataneous Multi-Frequency (SMF) detector: The Xterra Elite Expedition Pack. For under $600 that includes 2 Coils (the V12X & the V8X), and the ML85 WIreess Headphones, it’s a great value. The good news is these coils and headphones work between the Equinox models and Xterra Elite making a future upgrade to a Nox900 also an easy choice.

    Recently purchased a Minelab Equinox 700 and have discovered it is difficult to find a tutorial specifically done for the 700. I appreciate this tutorial as it did help me understand the various functions of each setting and why to set them there. Hopefully I can now start finding more valuable items than the nails, screws, pull tabs, pop cans and other junk we have been digging. Thanks.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  5 місяців тому

      Yes, most of us never did a video on the 600 or 700 because of the videos we already had out on the 800 and 900 period as you know they're not exactly the same but close enough and it didn't seem worth doing a separate video. If all you are finding is nails, bottle caps and junk. Try to find that site that is a long lost and forgotten park, swimming hole, old fairgrounds, etc. Find a site that no metal detector has ever detected before. You will find some real treasures. You do have to dig the trash to get the good targets. My old saying is its 99% skill and 99% luck! It's so true. Thank you for your view and comment!

      1 14k diamond wedding band, 3 silver rings, 1 tungsten ring, the rest were junk. Pair of sterling silver diamond earings and a ton of change.. one thing for sure..the pulltabs come in the same as rings..so you have to dig those!! 29-31 id#'s.. dig them or you may miss the rings

      Hi Thank you for this great video..
      Tommorow is a big day..my new 900 is being delivered..
      I wanted to ask you a few questions please..
      Can you give me a good manual setting for beach mode..what sensitivity is a good setting.. and beach tips settings are greatly appreciated!.. My last detector I owned was a Whites Dfx...
      I had it for 19 years and it basically started playing erroneous sounds all the time
      I hope I see a big difference in the 900...
      And are there any Quick preset hunting modes?
      Like if I use beach mode 1 will there be a preset sensitivity already set up for it without me having to manually set it up?...
      Thank you again for your video...
      I know I have alot to learn...

      Good to hear from a person who upgraded from the 800 and has had time to compare them! I am in the El Dorado Hills are near Folsom so Santa Cruz is way South of me. Saw some recent pics of Santa Cruz after the last storm, they took a direct hit and it destroyed parts of the pier and completely terraformed the entire beachfront at the boardwalk! Have you been there since?

    I own the 800 and getting the 900. Great presentation. When it comes to setup (either detector), there’s a lot of button memorization. In other words, some buttons have different functions in different setup modes. That’s a challenge for me. You have it memorized quite well. I don’t know how they can improve on that. It is what it is - including factory equipment such as temperature controllers, etc, that are compact. I’ll definitely go through you instructions more than once. Thanks.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому

      Yes I totally understand what you mean those sub menus are a little tricky and I wish the menu on the 900 was as easy to understand as the Manticore. Since the Equinox 900 is essentially an upgraded version of the 800 they just continued to use the user interface from the 800 so that users of the 800 would understand the same menu structure. I actually have all menus on all major metal detectors memorized 😝 I don't know how I remember all of this stuff but I do use all of my machines frequently! Thank you for the view and comment!

    I really like the red backlight! Looks great and the multiple brightness settings allow you to set it right where you want with the lowest battery consumption. Saves your night vision if you’re hunting towards dark at end of day. Underwater it’s very clear and better than white light. My only wish is that you could toggle between white and red lights for different lighting environments, but the red by itself is perfectly fine as it stands.

    I bought my 900 to use underwater in freshwater lakes and streams, since I was afraid of the 800 leaking. I also detect in a lot of different areas with many sizes of coils and I'm constantly adjusting my machines to get peak performance for each coil. You really need to do a video on the subject, since each coil type has different attributes. I love my 10X5 in trashy parks but it took me awhile to figure out the optimal settings for it. Last month I pulled an SLQ from right next to a nail in a heavily hunted park.

    GREAT video. I'm using this video to work through my Equinox 900 setup. question - I"m in field 2 search mode and only see 2 tones setup when trying to assign vibrating handle for different tone breaks (10:21). Where do I configure my 'Field 2' from 2 tone breaks to 5? Also, what is your experience using vibration in regards to battery life - does it significantly reduce battery life? thank you!

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому

      From Field 2 mode, click the setup icon (cog wheel) then go to the 5th icon on the bottom (it's a small speaker icon with a couple musical notes next to it). From there you can choose 1-2-5-at-dp. The vibrating handle does use more battery but it's an insignificant amount of battery usage to worry about I think in the overall length of operation time it would be less than 5% difference in total battery run time.Thank you for the view and the question!

    Just curious should you find silver or gold in a tin box, like maybe a lozenge box in the ground on an all metal setting does the detector read as a tin box or as silver? or both

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  6 місяців тому

      This sounds like a good video!! Thank you for this idea! It really depends on how thick the metal of the tin is around the silver or gold. Metal detectors work by exciting buried metallic objects and reading the eddy currents that are emitted by each item under the coil. To "hear" or detect the coins or hold inside the tin means that there is enough transmission power to excite the coins or gold inside the tin. At the very least there would be some VDI averaging going on. But again this is a fantastic idea for a video and I'm going to do it I will give credit to you for bringing the question to me. Thank you again for the view and for bringing this question to me!

    New detector here, I came across your awesome video then decided to get a Nox 900, You make it easier to understand. I have a quick question, a friend wants me to look for a lost Titanium ring in his yard. Without getting in too deep, would looking for Titanium lean itself more like looking for Gold or looking for coins? Again thanks for the video I see myself watching it many more times.

    • @BrassMedic
      @BrassMedic  Рік тому

      Fantastic choice to get the Equinox 900, you will do very well with it! Titanium is a poor conductor of electricity and therefore will be a low conductor, more like gold, perhaps even lower on the Equinox 900. So listen for lower tones that repeat. A good way to test what the tone will be is to take a piece of aluminum foil in the kitchen approx 6" square, wad it up pretty good and listen to it. That is approximately what your friends ring will sound like. Thank you for the view, comment and question!!
